Yeah if your not interested in full hd its not a bad deal. I am looking at the smaller 42" panasonic for $999 with full HD, watch alot of bluray and play PS3 so i want 1080p otherwise this is a very good deal for a large screen tv, that a lot of people would still enjoy. +v from me :)

Umm, Blu Ray, yes. But PS3… 720p much?

      • my bluray player is my ps3

          You've missed the point.

That is an awesome price - to think six months ago they were still $1500 or so…

  • How many watts do these Plasmas typicaly use? Is it much more than an LCD?

At the top of the sites web page it says the company is "australian owned" ???
They are owned by the same co that owns radio rentals… "thorn emi"… a british co!!
Not that important but anyway still a great deal for a 50" brand name plasma, not long ago could not get one for under $3000.

    • Could it be an offshoot of 'Thorn emi…a british co'? And operate separately from the British arm?
Good question, very likely they are and also owned by Australians as they're listed on the ASX (TGA).

  • I bought a $1700 fridge/freezer from them approx 6 to 8 months ago. Fast delivery, no bumps, scratches or dents, perfect transaction all round. I would recommend BBB to anyone.

  • NEC are good, I've got one of their LCDs. Great value. Although Korean products are really cheap now due to the low Korean currency.

for such a huge screen you would see an improvment going for a full HD 1080p instead of 768.

For $200 more that why the HN pansaonic S10 is a better deal.

But if you really cant tell the diffrence with a Full HD source then good deal.

    • for this size of screen, who can't tell the difference?

  • its like a digital photo, if you want to print a large photo the more megapixels your going to need.

In this case with such a huge screen best to go with the most amount of pixels you can fit in the huge display and that means FULL HD the MAX resolution possible.

Now if you going for a smaller screen then yeah your not going to see a huge diffrence in resolution.

I think it comes down to the owner of the TV in the end, some people cannot see the differance. For those that can (or think they can) then buy what makes you happy and dont be told by others you dont need it.

good price for 50" yes its not hd but really if your only watching tv and some sd dvds wouldnt really worry.

Have owned this model since last Christmas, and does the job very nicely. Paid $1500 for it back then after haggling between a local shop and Harvey Norman. Big fan of the LG interface.
