    • Lol - they are still keeping their normal British Paints range, just no longer doing trade paint.

    • I wonder when…

  • Sorry for noob question, what is prep coat? Is it another word for undercoat?

    • +5

Correct. Seals bare timber and plasterboard or mutes dark colours before applying a new topcoat in a different colour.

  • +2

Sadly they only have White colour for sale…jk

    • +3

      Racist! ;-)

      • he's talking about paint man.

        chill…

        EDIT: <jk><Sarc><ping>

        • discriminate! not all paint man white! ;-)

      • hahaha nice one

      • +1

You can get it tinted if you want (coffee coloured people by the score)

    • They have a few 10 ltr low sheen interior tubs in deep and mid base at Oxenford store.
      Also 4 ltr metal sealer.

  • +1

Perfect I needed just this. Cheers OP nice find.

    • +2

you can also find just this at the high court…

  • It is like using the Accent brand. Not a great paint at all. Watery…

    • Being part of the Dulux group, it's just a slightly thinner 'recipe' of Dulux 101. Personally I don't like Dulux that much as it dries too fast. Trade paint is generally thinner, regardless of brand.

      • Why is trade thinner? Isn't that the opposite of better quality

        • +3

DIYers tend to overbrush paint so it spreads more. Tradies are quick n thick. Well their paint is thickly applied anyway..

        • @thebargainhunter:

Any evidence on this theory? :P

  • Such as shame Bunnings will no longer stock this paint. It is much cheaper than anything else Bunnings & Masters stock and similar quality to other brands. Perhaps it was too cheap.

Steer clear of their water based enamel. I bought 4L of British Paints H20 enamel because it was cheaper, but I found it gave off fumes for days and was tacky to touch for a good week afterwards. I then bought 4L of Dulux Aquanamel and that was incredible by comparison - way less fumes, and it dried properly in a matter of hours.

    • Aquanamel dries faster than you can roller one side of a door, even in the shade. I also reckon the gloss still looks average after 3 - 4 coats.

      • +2

any "water based" gloss is going to look less glossy than proper oil-based enamel.

    • When you say fumes, do you mean the smell?

  • I have used the interior walls, and the enamel doors and trim and its very good paint for the price. Did the whole house. The coverage is the same as dulux. That spring stuff is alot thinner. Hopefully they will still sell the interior wall paint becuase its great paint at $17.50 for 4lts.

Is any of this non undercoat exterior paint?

  • Just paid $35 for 500ml white oil based paint. Ughh.
Cheers op, I think I'll buy the 4L for $15 if they still have it!

  • Argh just painted a whole apartment with what's now on discount. Oh well, not meant to be for us

  • I'm there at 0700hrs tomorrow morning to grab 3x 4L tins.

  • Sorry to ask a dummy question. I am living in a 3 year old house and I want to paint outside of the house. Which paint should I choose?

    • I cant see an Exterior paint in the list…

    • they did have exterior paint on clearance at bunnings in perth, which wasn't on the list …

  • Sure you can.

  • Anyone know of an accurate way to work out how much paint needed for a given area?

  • The Melville store (Leach Hwy in Perth) had 3 tins of 4 Doors & Trim - Oil Based Enamel Gloss left this evening. Couldn't colour match the sample I had (too small) but matched as close as we could to a Dulux swatch. For $15 worth a gamble. Customer service fab and Krispy Kreme out front (still a novelty for Perth). Midweek hump? No way :) Thanks OP!

    • Midweek hump?

As much as some people would appreciate a daily hump, in reality it's probably more like a monthly hump.

  • Went to bunnings highpoint (melb) who had a larger range than listed here, but stocks are low. Low/high sheen, water/oil based, interior/exterior….all combos.

Not too sure where the saving prices in OP came from…
10l British Paint PSU - normal bunnings ticket $15
15l British Paint PSU - normal bunnings ticket - $29

  • Used the british pro with the monarch 12mm roller (green tube) and got away with 1 coat and it looks great. Now to finish the rest of the house.

  • No white bases left at Stafford (Qld) if that saves someone a trip

    • thanks was going to go tonight!

  • I'm not sure if anyone else has actually used this paint, but my strong recommendation is if you are a beginner, don't waste your time/money. If you are experienced and won't go over the same area more than once, you'll be fine.

  • Cheers Op - just picked up from Mornington Vic - 10L Oil Based Doors and Windows Gloss for $35, 4L Stain Block for $15

  • Nope. First one there at 7am as the doors opened……already completely bare.

    Missed out on this bargain.

  • Bayswater had 10l & 4l doors trim left, couple of prep coat ones. ~20 altogether.

  • I have my garage back door frame which is metal showing corrosion. Is there anything I can use from here. I think I need something anti-corrosive base and then a exterior paint on top of that. Need some advise from a paint expert please.

    • +1

Prep the surface with a very light sand and then use metal sealer followed by a couple of coats of exterior paint. Some people have reported finding the metal sealer on sale in this range - good luck.

      • Thanks for the tip

  • Does the offer include any precoat for exterior masonry walls which have been bagged?

  • Went to Tuggeranong store yesterday, pretty much no stock left. A staff told us that a guy bought 140 cans in the morning.

    • Broooooaaaadddeeeeennnnn!!!!

      • Must be a painter :(

  • Does anyone know of any good masking/painters tape that won't bleed? Need a recommendation for some painting we are doing at home, thanks!

    • +1

Get the blue stuff which will peel off easier. Don't leave it on for more than a couple of weeks though.

      • thanks :)

      • Second that - i left it on for a couple months (stuck some cardboard over a small hole in the wardrobe wall with it) and it does not peel off easily!

        • Why would you leave it on for so long though - out of curiousity/

  • does anyone find the old 12-15m2/litre guide accuate for how much paint one needs for estimating a house job? I assume this is only for one coat of paint? or is this guide typically for 1 sealer/undercoat and the 2 coats of paint?

    THanks (first timer)
