Is that it—- any upgrades to current Android or stuck at 4.2?
If it's on 4.2 this late in the game, it's never getting updated. Not even through a custom ROM, because of the stupid MTK chipset.

1GB RAM is the deal breaker. Why are most of 8" android pads only come with 1GB RAM?
Anyone can recommand a 8" tablet with 2GB RAM at a reasonable price? I checked some Chinese tablets but none of them come with 2gb RAM.Because this one is super old.
Here's two. One has an older chipset, but is $111 and dual boots Windows 10 and Android, while the other has a newer chipset, but only runs Windows 10 and costs $162. Both have 2GB of RAM.

wow almost considering this but maybe get nexus 7 instead. or something slightly bigger than 7" from nexus as i have mobile with 5.5" already

I'm pretty sure this is the first generation Yoga tablet hence the 1gb RAM and MTK chipset. We have a Yoga Tablet 2 10in (Android) and that is an Atom z3740+ 2GB (purchased late 2014)
That gearbest Win 10 tablet looks great value but would like to find similar spec/price for one running android 5+
