    16gb phone with no expandable storage lol.

    • +1

      Not everyone uses more than 16gb on their phones.

      • its only 12gb really

        • More like 11GB…

      • -2

        Sure, if you dont want to have music, record videos or take pictures

        • +7

          I do all those things and still use 16gb phone.

        • @Jimmy007: Not often apparently

        • +1

          @nick nick:

          I just upload all those vids and pics to the cloud when im on wifi. its automatic.

          spotify and google music for music.

        • +1

          No, you just have to be mindful about your storage space.

          I.e. not have your entire music library in your phone, not have your entire movies library in your phone etc.

        • -1

          @inose:

          Why do I need my entire music and movie libraryou on my phone. That's over 2tb

        • @astarman:

          You don't. That's my point

  • Harvey Norman have an Australian Nexus 5X 16GB for only $2.40 more (after $25 coupon).

    Let's also compare phones this time:

    OnePlus X vs Nexus 5:

    http://www.phonearena.com/phones/compare/OnePlus-X,Google%20…

    Price: $520.60 vs https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/224639 ~$300

    OS: 5.1 Lolipop on near stock Android with VERY good customisability with Marshmallow coming soon vs 6.0 Marshmallow

    Build quality: Glass and metal vs plastic

    Screen: 1080p AMOLED with black software to save battery life VS IPS LCD.

    Camera: OnePlus X has a slightly worse camera than the Nexus 5. In short, neither are good at all.

    Hardware: Snapdragon 801 vs 808 / 3 gigs of RAM vs 2 gigs / 32gb of storage + expandability vs 16gb in this case, if you want more on the Nexus, it's not going to cost $526

    Battery Life:

    http://www.phonearena.com/phones/benchmarks
    OnePlus X: 54h score / 15:57h talktime / 6:32h web browsing / 6:55 video playback
    LG Nexus 5X: 60 h score / 16:57h talktime / 8:32h web browsing / 6:25 video playback

    http://www.phonearena.com/phones/benchmarks
    OnePlus X: 5h 57 min
    Google Nexus 5X: 6 hours 25 minutes

    So for $220 less, almost half the price of the phone, you get a phone that's almost just as good in every category.

    • I'd seriously consider the OnePlus X, however unfortunately near stock isn't pure stock.

        • +2

          whoa, dude…… beware of the dark side. Anger, fear, aggression; the dark side of the Force are they…

          pretty sure there are other reasons why the nexus 5x retails for $659.

        • +1

          Additional customisation beyond that intended in the stock format? Sounds like memory-hogging clunky bloatware. I'd rather stay pure. Sure you can give me the option of adding tomato sauce to my Coke, but that's not going to improve the flavour. When I ask for a coke, I don't want to be slowed down by being asked "Tomato sauce with that?".

          @soaringphoenix:

          Something something TouchWiz something something Nexus masterrace amirite?

        • +1

          @kermuffle:

          What are the other reasons?

          I think the 5X (and 6P) are unjustifiably overpriced as well.

          Having said that, the 5X is a very good phone. However, the software is… stock Android, i.e. barebone skeleton. And they're still charging that much.

        • +1

          @inose: off the top of my head: australia tax, low aussie dollar, manufacturing costs, some commentators note that previous nexus phones were sold at low margins so they wanted more profit with this one. google is your friend

          i don't really hold any loyalty to any brand, just whatever is good value. i personally wouldn't buy a 5x at this price.

        • +1

          @kermuffle:

          Hey mate, I'm also for good value… which is why we're on OZBargain! And yes, agreed, wouldn't buy the 5x at this price too.

          Sure, the price of the Nexus has increased due to many factors (profit hungriness included), but what I can't fathom is… Well, the phone is made by LG. The LG G4 is CHEAPER than this 5X. Doesn't quite make sense to me; should be around the same price, if not, lower!

          ALso, the 6P. It's a Huawei! A Huawei, those things from China are meant to be cheap… and they are charging nearly at Samsung / Apple pricing.

          Again, agreed that I wouldn't buy the 5x at this price… definitely won't be touching the 6p anytime soon either. A shame, because I am a happy Nexus user; my next phone will probably not be a Nexus.

          Edit: Let's not forget that this is a 16GB phone, without SD card expansion, and bareboned stock Android… for over $500.

      No NFC, No band 28 (Telsta 4GX, Voda) and reports of asian stock of coming with preinstalled malware.

      • -7

        And is that difference worth $220 to you? NFC is so niche unless you want to go off and use Android pay (which hasn't even launched in Australia yet), and if you're buying a $300 phone, Telstra 4GX probably isn't on your radar.

        • Why the 4GX is related the cost of the phone? No that is not true.

          Though I agree with you that the 5x is way too expensive, the s808 and s801 are still one generation different which justifies a price difference like $200.

        • -3

          @claud0902:

          If you're using a $300 phone, you're probably not going to pay the premium to get on Telstra's 4GX network.

        • NFC is so niche unless you want to go off and use Android pay (which hasn't even launched in Australia yet)

          Two of the big four banks already support NFC payment on their own, so it's already possible without Android Pay.

        • @smileymiwo:

          Why the 4gx is premium? Is it not in the telstra $30 starter pack which is always selling at $10?

    No deal

    Aussie stock from Harvey Norman $523 with $25 welcome credit just picked up to day

    Heads up this appears to be the HK model (H798) as opposed to the International/AU model (H791) - so no band 28. This is also the model that Kogan is selling for $499 at the moment.
