Free Fitness First 3 Day Guest Pass

65

Enter your details and receive a three day guest pass to any normal Fitness First for access to weights, cardio machines and group exercise classes.

I received this by email advertised as 'Train with a buddy', however there doesn't seem to be anything preventing you from going in alone. Also, a quick heads up - these people are animals once they get a whiff of a potential member so be prepared for a hard sell.

        comebacks mainly

Yes +1 to the above comments… I joined a 2 week trial (part of a coke promo last year)….the harassing phone calls started the moment I activated the first day of my trial, and continued every 2nd day until the end of my trial. Horrible. Like the OP said, they are like pitbulls, once they latch on, they won't let go.

Do not give them your real phone number if you are intending to use this trial.

  • I agree with Mikinoz.

This will not seem much of a bargain after you are relentlessly harrased and pressured by the Fitness First sales staff into signing up for a contract which you will is extremely difficult and bothersome to get out of.

Not worth it in my experience.

I can't wait for the Unfair Contracts legislation to be passed which will mean that the types of contracts that Fitness First cons people into, can be challenged and declared void.

Just to save my own conscious have a quick read before you head in

    http://www.choice.com.au/Reviews-and-Tests/Food-and-Health/D…

I'd recommend saying that you want to try out the equipment or classes a couple of times before discussing memberships, and then just dodge the sales team on your last visit. At the end of the day your under no obligations to sign anything or even return if its too much heat.

    • That link was a very interesting read - thanks!

  • referred a friend
they got a phoen call a day asking to come to the gym to "talk"
    watch out!

  • Signed up for this last time and didnt even end up using it - just the wrong approach a gym is taking to get customers.

Made the mistake of picking up their first phone call and was bombarded by their sales pitch for over 10 mins and the woman wouldn't stop talking until I made an appointment to go into the gym to check it out (never ended up going).

They then relentlessly called multiple times every day for 2 weeks and I would just ignore the number (yes, they called so much that I recognised the number)

My friend went to check out one of their gyms at Bankstown, NSW and said it was very small compared to his regular university gym with a limited selection of equipment, unorganised and stank from lack of ventilation.

Their annual membership fee is also ridiculous, somewhere in the vicinity of $1000-1200 per year which comes down to around $40 a fortnight. However, I have heard that if you personally know a sales person, or have a friend who knows one, they can get the price down to around $20 a fortnight.

tl:dr - don't put your name down for this promotion. find another gym near you - university gyms are usually alot cheaper ($400 a year), have much more equipment, and are open to the public.

This: I go to a university gym and pay $360 per year.

  • This seems like a pretty straight forward offer that all gyms have… Not really a bargain, plus Fitness First is filled with tools.

Read up before joining Fitness First… There are stacks and stacks of horror stories about them…

    • Like when they forced a dead woman's family to pay for her fornightly fees and cancellation fee.

    Fitness First.

And bargain should never go in the same paragraph.

  • DO NOT enter your details as others have mentioned, you will get harassed. Why are people not voting negatives? This is a details collection campaign which fitness first are renowned for.

  • i agree.

i work for st george bank and fitness first is famous for their tricks

Get this - they change the reference number for each montly (or fortnightly) direct debit so that the banks aren't able to cancel it (due to the inconsistent reference number)

Chrisco is also common for this.

I almost forgot Fitness first was a place to exercise!

  • I agree

    • 2nd… bad experience with fitness…… the way they just hound you.

  • You can practically walk in and get this offer from them any time of day.
Theres always fitness first people standing around handing out freebies, so this isnt out of the ordinary at all.

But yeah, I've been told lots of horror stories. They all seem to be based around the idea of
    - Give them a fake phone number
    - If you join, open a new credit card purely for Fitness First
    - If you try to leave, its easier to palm off the rest of the contract to a friend

  • Deal is certainly not a bargain- as said by many, you can walk in to almost any gym and get a few days free. Some gyms even offer a 7 day pass.

  • Keep in mind to NEVER sign for anything (even if it says trial membership), no matter WHAT they say. They can lie to any extent and even give it to you in writing, but it will not be recognised later, no matter what.

Remember once you signup there is $70 cancellation fee, and at least a months fee, even the trial membership.

The representative will make u go through at-least an hour of membership details, and give u "special discounts" by reducing $2 per fortnight!! But do get a couple of free days…. (Remember: u DONT need to sign anything for getting the three day pass)

  • can get this anytime… they are annoying
