Need to add that this is the price of the 2GB ram 16GB version. Also needs AUD price would be nice.

Doesn't support the 700mhz 4G band that Telstra paid $650M for …. or the 700mhz band that Optus also use ….. which was one of the drivers for moving Australia to digital TV ….. so some of the TV frequencies could be re-farmed for use by mobile phones for better coverage and work better inside buildings.

    • +2

Because 700MHz isn't used in China and it's a Chinese phone for the Chinese market.

  • what does everyone think of this phone?

i bought this phone about 3 weeks ago from android-enjoyed.com.

firstly - do not buy this phone unless you want to flash cooked roms… put simply, this will come with a chinese miui rom, which does support english, and can get the google play store etc onto it… but the experience isnt fluid for the power user. global miui rom isnt out yet for redmi note 3, and probably wont be anytime soon whilst this remains a china exclusive.

as for the device, works great, love it - i got the 32gb/3gb model running on telstra network.
4000mah battery, lasts a whole day on charge with fairly heavy usage. powerful and quick - the fingerprint reader works ok… has a quirk though. the miui rom is still running lollipop, and the fingerprint reader doesnt have native android support, therefore, the reader only works as a function to unlock your device - it doesnt work with other launchers, only miuis.

if you got other questions, feel free to ask.

  • Does it support quick charge?

    • Support quick charge 5V/2A.
The default power adapter is also 5V/2A :)

    A$260.82 - 2GB + 16GB
    A$343.62 - 3GB + 32GB

Honestly, you can find the 3GB / 32GB cheaper on Aliexpress.

  • its so cheap in china that they can build phone to each country specs they will make even more money ….

It's firmware ….apple make one phone for world market and change firmware. Like Samsung s5 international model. Most of these Chinese compannies don't have an australian presence or sell in Australia except gte and huawei.

With Samsung s5 down to $322 at Christmas and $399 at office works these Chinese phones are loosing their edge as cheap 1080p screen phones

      • Mate Huawei is killing it, its the 3rd Most best selling phone for 2015

      • +1

OW has S5 at $598, who knows when it will be back at $399.

  • Even with 32G+3G model the RRP of the phone is roughly AUD$250 in China and the android system installed is not compatible with Australia. It’s just a rip-off for this price

    • How can the Android ROM not be compatible?

      • they havent made a global rom available for this phone yet so you have to use the chinese rom with the english language selection meaning some apps are still in chinese and are not translated.

        • That means it's compatiable then, but with some elements still in Chinese obviously. There are unofficial ROMs out on the mi forum though.

So it does not come with google play?

  • I'm looking for a 5-5.5" phone to replace my Xperia Z but I have no idea where to start! Huawei, Asus or Xiaomi?! Is there an international version of this phone?

    • This is on pre-sale.
      Funeed is on sale :)
