  • $12.80 only for 1st month or every month?

    • It is starter pack and for first month only then $40

  • For every sim card you bought.

Note that if you are willing to spend $40 a month and would like to stay with voda try to ring them and ask for a "12GB Data + unlimited local call @ $40 monthly (most likely a 12 months contract). My cousin just got the deal + he got the first 2 months to have unlimted data.

    • 12 gb? Wasn't it 10gb?

      • My cousin got 12GB. Are you talking about the optus one?

        • There is no SIM Only plan with 12GB data, can you confirm if its 10GB and not 12GB. Did he get the plan and got offered this ?

          @regenade:

I confirm what @cwtrick said. When Optus started the $40 per month, 10Gb 12 month sim only plan, I called Voda - spoke to retentions team who offered me 12GB data, 12 month sim only, unlimited local and international (to some countries only) and first two months unlimited data. I know a lot of people who got this deal

        • @regenade: You have to call them up and ask for the offer. This offer is not shown in their webpage or physical store, and it a sim only plan

        • @billa911: Thank you

        • @billa911: I have called VF and unfortunately they have asked for contact # (VF no) which have this plan so that they can check and let me apply for a new no on my existing VF account as well ! If you are happy to share your no with this $40 plan, will PM you :D

        • @regenade:

Just PM'd you. All the best

I got $40 a month for 10GB first 3 month half price for 12 months. So that ends up being $35 per month for 12 months.

I'd rather save an extra $5 a month for 2 GB less. honestly 10gb is more than I can use anyway.

      • Can you tell me how to got the 1st 3 months at 50% Off ?

        • well I asked them what deal they can give me they said 1 month half price, then I asked if there is any way they can give me a better deal than that they just offered 3 months half price

  • I currently have a work phone (Telstra) but I am going to be changing jobs soon and will lose my phone. Can I buy this sim now and port my number to it as I dont want to change my number. Also do I need to activate this now or can I activate this later in the year in a couple of months time when I change jobs?

    • hi mate
you need to port it at the time of activation

      • Sorry I am a noob at this, how do I port? do I just call telstra? also when do I have to activate it by? would it expire if not activated before a certain date?

Lastly would it fit in an iphone 5?

        • iphone 5, you need to order the nano (select sim conversion when you add to cart)

when your activating the voda sim, you need to select "port your existing number" and mention your number there.

voda sims do not expire, so you can activate &/or port anytime.

  • What is the manufacture date?

Vodafone sim expiry is usually 30 months, otherwise you need to call them up and it is up to their discretion.

    • as far as i know theres no expiry,
      mfg is Nov-15

    • I believe that Vodafone SIM don't have an activation expiry date.

I don't know where you got the idea that they expire in 30 months.

      • I don't have a source anymore, but it was straight from Vodafone themselves… I thought it was common knowledge by now.

        • Well I have it in writing that my 3GB broadband sims won't expire. I may need to fight that one day, so I kept the log of the conversations. I have 18 months worth of Telstra sims to use up first.

        • @syousef:
Do you port your number everytime you change to a new sim. interested to find out how you do it and where do you get all these sims? I assume not from Telstra.

        • @lancedefrance:

I just keep an eye out for the specials and buy as many as they'll let me. You do have to watch expiration dates though.

  • Thanks OP, my dad is visiting from overseas and looking for a sim for him.

    • awesome, glad to help! :)

  • How long is the sim valid for if it doesnt get topped up? would it expire in 12 months?

  • SIM validity will expire after 12 months.
