Tempted to get that iPhone 16e coming from a 12 and couldn’t care for camera specs. Any reason not to from anyone?

    • +1

Do it, its a great phone.

      • What about the iPhone 17?

        • The best iphone you can buy bang for buck.

          • @ashumz: which one the iphone 16e or iphone 17?

i was thinking if the iphone 16e had 256GB but I need a bit more space so i'm going to try the iphone 17 512GB

            • +1

              @prankster: 17 easily.

              • @ashumz: if i can find it in apple store - seems to be very popular phone this year as you could only have the phone delivered.
looks like some stock has arrive in sydney recently but lets see how fast it sells out lol i'm waiting to get my apple friend to come into the store with me so he can hook me up with staff discount :)

  • I went from an 11 to 16 pro and the difference is everywhere but nowhere.

The only reason to not upgrade is if your current phone works for what you need it for.

E.g. The reasons I upgraded was the 11 was so slow when navigating around and it barely worked in the sun. Other than that its the exact same interface and phone with better cameras etc.

    • Yeah I’m thinking of going to the new iPhone 17 coming off iPhone 11 Pro. Only reason I’m upgrading because some apps are lagging and a bit of slowness from the phone. Actually if the apls didn’t stuff up as much then I’d probably still stick with this phone 😅

Just bought boost sim through topcash

Once you buy the Telstra $350 Prepaid SIM, is there a certain time period in which you have to activate it?

    • YMMV , ive managed to activate a sim from voda & Telstra before that has "expired"

so yes there is a date in the T&C's technically

  • 12 months?

    • Yes.

      • Good deal. Currently with Telstra 6 month super discount deal. Porting out for a month and after that - Hello again Telstra….

        • Even porting for a day is fine too

  • Is the telstra deal only for new customers or can someone who is already on one of these 12 months sims use this when my 12 months is up which is in 2 months time?

    • +1

technically, all these forms of plans from every single provider are for new/port in services..

YMMV when it comes to how easy you are able to get effectivelly a sim swap done.

      • ok thanks bud.. was worth a try lol

Im happy with the yearly plan l have anyways..way better compared to the monthly one i was on

        • +2

i mean…you could buy this deal….buy a $10 sim on another provider….port out then port back in….save yourself potential hours on chat/phone asking some rep to perform a sim swap they may or may not know how to do.

or you could go on chat and 'act' like an oblivious idiot
"my wife bought this for me and im trying to recharge my service but i cant can you please help" <- this 'usually' works better than, hey can you do this thing for me that i know full well is circumventing the actual use for it

    • +2

Port out onto a free/$2 prepaid SIM with another carrier, and then when you activate the new Telstra $350 prepaid, it will give you the option to port in.
Ports take up to 48 hours but you've be pretty unlucky for it to take more than 5-10 minutes.

      • Whats the best one to get for a port out and in?

        • +2

Doesn’t really matter because you’re only going to be with the carrier for like 2 minutes. But I guess personally I’d go with Vodafone. I would have said Voda or Optus but I’d prefer to avoid giving my details to Optus.

          • @oatmatcha: Seems like there is no more sims that can activate with no credit. All the ones i looked up required $10 - 15 min recharge

              • @oatmatcha: Yup, heaps of $2 sims, but every time you check into them……. it says "recharge required" and when i did further digging….. it appears they require atleast minimum $10 recharge to activate.

Although this was from a few yrs ago, i suspect it still is applicable:
                https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/680262

Just wondering if anybody on ozb happen to find a unicorn which can be activated without any recharge.
Optus, Amaysim used to be my go tos, but now Optus requires $10 and Amaysim is $15 to credit to activate.

From the looks of it, Vodafone requires $10.

                • @lplau: Ah right. I registered a $2 Kogan eSIM earlier this year and didn’t need recharge. Could be an option?

                • @lplau: I recently encountered this shite over the Labour Day long weekend.
Got the $2 Voda, found out about the min. $10 crap, went and got now-$2 Aldi which also needs min credit.
BUT….. there was an option to use FamilyPlan/(shared plan?)… chose that, got setup, didn't join FamilyPlan, churned - too easy.

                  • @flamesinfour: Oh Aldi one works? I thought Telstra MVNO (aldi) to Telstra prepaid doesnt work. Haha. Good to know it works.

  • any place where i can get 4L peanut oil?

    • Used to get at Costco. Keep looking, they might stock again. Pretty good deal at 8$/L when they had it!

  • +1

This would have fewer inclusions than Boost, wouldn't it? Like no international minutes?

    • It does, 6000 minutes zone 1 unless im not seeing the right plan

      • Thanks, I just found it as well. For me this may be better than the Boost deal, because I find it a hassle having to port in and out. After 12 months, I can go back to Boost again.

    Nice oil deal thx

Moro Olive Oil is from Spain, whereas Red Island is from Australia.

  • What's the current price on the Boost Sim at Costco?

    • +1

Fark just bought $300 sim for $250 with $30 gc

    • +1

Top cash back is $60 cashback on $264 Plan boost

      • Need to activate in 30 days to get cashback

  • Remember roaming is only available in the 38 countries for $10 (3 days), 15 (7 days) & $25 (14 days).

    https://www.telstra.com.au/mobile-phones/prepaid-mobiles/int…

Unsure of WiFi calling without roaming packs.

    • Wifi calling works from India with this prepaid option. Used it twice last year

    • Wifi calling works from anywhere, with these prepaid cards.

    • Unsure of WiFi calling without roaming packs.

Wifi doesn't use the Sim so it doesn't matter. If you're looking for the ultimate zero cost roaming, just take you phone and only use wifi services at hotel/restaurant/shopping centres etc. You can use Google Maps off-line so roaming free travel is quite doable.

  • Can we return the sim card to costco simply change of mind?

    • +1

      No. This item is excluded.

  • Anyone know if we can use Costco gift cards to pay for the Telstra sim?

    • +2

Of course you can, costco doesn't care what method you check out

  • Is Costco Shop card of $35 on top of $269.99 ?

    • Yes Emailed in 3 -4 days

      • 👍

  • Boost was sold out by the time I went in.
    That was the best deal.
Also International calls are more generous with Boost

Anyone had any luck price matching at Officeworks?

    • Interested to know this

    • Officeworks don’t price match Costco anymore!!

  • can we buy this online if someone has membership?
    or maybe
can i buy 25$ giftcard and go there and shop ( i have prime so do not like going to costo) but costo seems to love telestra for some reason that is why they are only offering it with costo all the time,

  • I’m on a Boost sim expiring 13th Dec - Can I buy this and use it in Dec? What’s the current expiry?

  • Dang. I'd get this if a Costco was near me, or otherwise, could be bought online…

Anyone wanna help a brother out?

  • Thank you Richard, bought a couple of the prepaid kits. Plenty in stock in Canberra.
