  • Hey evatech

I bought this Cherry branded keyboard from you a long time ago, quite happy with it.
    http://i.imgur.com/DCT8ZFr.jpg

If you were to stock them again, I'd be happy to buy some more.
Kinda sad that actual Cherry branded keyboards aren't as mainstream as they should, their boards are built well.

    • +1

Unfortunately we can't sell what our suppliers don't have stock of any more. :(

I think at the time, we cleaned them out of those units and from memory we were told Australia would likely never see (official) stock again.

Great to know you love it that much though!

    • Do you know the model number of this keyboard

      • Its G80-3000

        • We actually had it down as being Cherry G80-3494 — not 100% on that, can check for you tomorrow if I remember.

        • @rloos:
you're right, the front of the box said G80-3000 in big letters but the sticker on the side says G80-3494

  • What is tesoro like in terms of quality? Price is pretty darn good.

    • Good quality, Durandal and Colada series use Cherry MX and the rest use Kailh switches.

$69 for an aluminium Cherry MX backlit keyboard is a steal ………… no point buying a keyboard but damn this is good

It's okay. I've got the Tesoro Lobera Supreme that I have been using for almost a year now. I bought it for $80 at mwave, it seemed like a great deal at the time for an RGB lit keyboard. The pictures shows that you can customise different colours for individual keys, but that is not the case, you can only set the whole keyboard to one colour. The colours also aren't even uniform especially brighter colours, which i find quite annoying. Also note that the macro and indicator lights are only white, and you can also see random pieces of red through the macro keys (random stuff under the keyboard). The software UI is absolutely horrible, there's a lot wrong with it.

Other than that, the switches have a similar feel to the cherry mechanical switches.

      • The software UI is absolutely horrible, there's a lot wrong with it.

Seems like it was made for Windows 2000 or something. Have a Durandal as well, very well built I have to say.

    • I got one of G1NL with MX blue the other day ($66 on ebay with the 15% and CR) and it's brilliant. The red backlight works as a good torch late at night. Very sturdy and the built in audio and USB ports are very handy.

    • I have a Tesoro Excalibur (I bought it in a local PC shop in Moorabbin, Victoria), doesn't lose to my friends Corsair K70 RGB Cherry and got it for about half the price he paid for.

People say Chinese products are sh*t, Chineses Brands are bad, but hey, look at the CEO of Razer and Logitech… and Monster and Sol Republic… and Chinese brands such as Oppo and One Plus.

      • Small majority of bad stuff ruins the image of the good ones.
The mind set that they are bad will be hard to shake off since there are still many companies who make reproductions out there.

      • I've had a really bad experience with corsair keyboards. I bought a k95 when it first came out (non-rgb with white backlight), it had a major flaw with the way the led lights were made, where they all slowly died over time. I don't know the details, but it had something to do with the way the lights made contact with the aluminium plate which causes it to burn out. I spoke to corsair and they wanted me to ship it overseas at my own expense (which costs about $50) to receive the same poorly designed keyboard which will probably have dead leds again in a few months, when that happens if i'm lucky then i would get another chance to send it back for another $50. No thanks corsair, for a $200 keyboard that is unacceptable.

I definitely won't be buying keyboards that expensive anymore, and stick with more reasonably priced keyboards like the tesoro range.

  • This is too good… boguht my Durandal g1nl ultimate for $120

  • Rep: the cheapest shipping for one keyboard to Brisbane is $29. Is that correct?

    • The on-page shipping estimate doesn't show Couriers Please satchel rates - I'm working on a fix for that now.

If you register and go to the checkout process, the satchel option should show up at a cheaper rate.

      Edit: Fixed. =]

      • I didn't seem to be able to get a satchel rate for 2 keyboards.
Although when I removed one it appeared - not sure if there was a weight limit or if something could be adjusted further?
        (Shipping to wa)

        • A keyboard and mouse barely fit in a satchel (we have to get a bit creative) so two keyboards cannot get the satchel option, unfortunately.

  • Any use for a non gamer?

    • +1

Personally any keyboard with a blue switch. Good for typing.

    • +1

Some people who spend a lot of time typing every day claim that a mechanical keyboard feels better on their fingers. Some programmers etc. like them too.
Multi-button mice may be useful for others looking to add quick actions to their workflow, depending on what software you use with it. e.g. use the buttons as 1-click copy/paste keys, for text expansion, etc.

It's really down to personal preference.

    • You know when you're a sloppy typer, and you hit the corner of a key, but it doesn't press down properly, or it takes a lot more pressure to activate, and it throws off your typing (assuming you're typing a fair bit)? That doesn't really happy with mechanical keyboards. The activations are smooth and will (should) always be that way (or for many many years).

I'm not going to say that mech keyboards are so good that you'll never go back, but I have a brown switched keyboard and I find it much nicer to type on.

      • If you're a sloppy typer, you're going to be registering a lot of accidental key strokes since most mechanical switches (red, brown, blue) require less pressure and have less travel before actuation.

        • Durandal Ultimate G1NL Blue good choice for non gamer ? Out of stock but…..

        • @vash12:
There's some good info here about the different Cherry MX switches:
          http://www.wasdkeyboards.com/mechanical-keyboard-guide

The MX Blue switch usually reminds people of the old "clicky" keyboards from the early PC days. The combination of the strong tactile feedback and simultaneous click gives a very satisfying feel while typing. However, the clicking can be loud, which can limit its use in shared computing spaces.

Looks like a great deal, awesome prices. Picked up a keyboard and mousepad. Cheers!

    No macro keys :(

  • The price for the Tesoro Lobera Supreme is still listed as $75 not as $69 as above

    • Sorry, typo from the G3NL, have amended the post above.

      • Thanks :)

Thanks! Ordered a new keyboard for home now :)

  • That Tesoro Lobera Supreme has some pretty great specs for the price.

I won a Tesoro headset at a LAN in 2014, and the microphone didn't work at all. I rang up to sort out warranty, and got told I'd get a call back. I followed up about 2 months later, and they said to try again tomorrow. I rang again and they said "We can't help you anymore, sorry, please stop ringing us. You should be grateful it works at all". I know I won it and I'm not losing any money on it, but I was really unhappy with that customer service. Just a heads up for what you might have to go through if you get anything faulty.

    • That's unusual, we've never had any problems like that with our dealings with the Tesoro distributor. Did you contact the competition holder or sponsor or Tesoro directly?

      • The best contact number for Tesoro Australia I could find. I think it might have been while they were getting established properly, but it was super unprofessional (sometimes took ages to answer and it was someone really out of breath, like they'd run to pick up the phone). That's great if they've improved since and that you've had good experiences dealing with them, but mine may have been the worst I've ever had with a company.

        • I can't seem to find any information or contact on "Tesoro Australia". If there are any warranty issues with products, we (Evatech, on your behalf) only have to deal with the supplier we purchased from, which is Australian; we buy from regularly, and have a long and positive history with.

        • Yeah, it was late 2014, so I can't recall exactly, but it was definitely a Sydney based number that got me onto Tesoro directly. Unfortunately I didn't have the same luxury, from winning it, to just get someone else to try and deal with the warranty side of things. If you and your customers have only had good experiences, I guess my experience is irrelevant; I just wish I got some professional follow up from Tesoro about a product that was faulty from the get go.

        • @Vinbie: Tesoro support is abysmal and I can't imagine them helping you since there are from Taiwan or something. I bought a Tesoro from MechKB and their support has been nothing short of excellent.

  • Gaming grade BLUE switches?

    Blue. Gaming??

Edit: Found out there is a cherry brown version, not linked in original post. The brown is $14 more. Oh well, pass.

  • Awesome deal.
Do you have the Tesoro Colada Saint G3NL Aluminum in black?

Certainly going to order, how long are these on sale for? I want to get one for work too.

    • Asked them already, been told they only have whats listed and sale is while stocks last only which at this rate may be a day or two with the more popular models almost sold out already.

    • Yeah, sorry, what we have listed is all we have. If we manage to get a second order in the works i'll pass your request along for the black model.

      • So do these have a metal frame?
Are there any others that are a solid build?

Are the LEDs on the G3NL Multi-Colour?

  • slightly off topic, but do you have (or suggest) a mouse for big hands? It would be nice to have a mouse that I can use without folding my fingers in half.

    • +1

Sorry wallet72, most mice are either smaller than average or within a very small variance from a standard. I don't believe we have or have ever had a particularly large sized mouse nor can I ever remember seeing one for sale elsewhere.

  • Great deal here thanks for this!

  • Anyone know when the Tesoro Lobera Spectrum will show up in Australia?

  • was going to shop around for ever for a good keyboard and mouse. bit the bullet and even got a mouse pad - first time to pay for one ever.

Thanks for helping me with my procrastination. Could you also speak to my wife when she sees the delivery?

  • I love my cherry brown logitech g710+, but I spilled tequila, whisky, and coke on it (all on separate occasions), with each spill rendering a couple keys dead, was still usable up till the last spill as dead keys were only tab/caps/shift/ctrl/alt/?/, but latest spill killed a couple critical keys so it's time for a new keyboard, I promise I won't spill anything on this one, ordered a tesoro durandal esport with the red/black cherry.

Hey guys I made an OZbargain account to leave this comment.

I thought I missed out on the first Brown switch mechanical keyboard posted, it ran out of stock for I was too slow!

They restocked the RGB Brown Switch Lobera Supreme but not before I had purchased a cherry keyboard 2.0 for $70

I sent them an email to ask if they can change my order as it has just been no more than an hour after I made it and paid - they responded so fast like within 20 mins to 30 mins and advised order has been changed extra $5.00 outstanding.

Very very good and prompt customer service, heres hoping that the goods arrive safely and on time, but so far A+ service from EVATECH!!!! :)

  • Hi, for this one:

    http://evatech.com.au/mechanical/4230-tesoro-durandal-ultima…

It says sold out but apparently I can still add it into cart. Any eta on this one?

    • Someone cancelled an order for one of those and changed to another model - so there is one left up for grabs.

I've been told that anything that accepts orders should mean you get it (or worst case we refund 100% of what you pay if we cannot stock it). Out of stock with no more stock arriving and you should not be able to order it.

PS. Whoever asked for a joke to be included, better be ready to laugh…

      PPS. then cry.

  • i decided to go with the silver keyboard.. Would be good if this one is available too: http://evatech.com.au/mice/4231-tesoro-gandiva-h1l-laser-gam… so i got a matching pair..=(

    • No more of them, sorry. We cleaned out our supplier and they don't list it on their website any more.

  • please pm me if somehow someone cancel their mouse and/or their mousepad order….THANKS!

  • If it weren't for the low dpi, i would've get that mouse already. Thanks anyway!

  • Do you have any keyboards with Clear switches that you can do cheap?

    Thanks! :)

    • Sorry, no clear switches available from Tesoro at this point in time, at least from their Australian distributor.

  • Can you let me know if any Durandal Ultimate G1NL Blue $65 are back in stock? Thanks!

    • Sorry! only the e-sports edition left for the G1NL, we took every single unit the distributor had in the country and they sold out almost as fast as we could book them in.

      • The cherry red keys in the e-sport G1NL are the best for gaming, while the blue and brown are usually better for typing, so due to the demand I can only conclude that there are more typists than gamers on ozbargain.

        • +1

That could be true if you take preference out of the equation, which you have done. My gamer friend has a cherry blue keyboard, we had a LAN over the weekend and could always tell when he was camping or walking about.
click click click click = walking about
          no clicks = camping

Also, the e-sport G1NL came into stock and was advertised after the initial post went live, so might have had something to do with it too.

        • Yeah its all about preference. I have a cherry brown keyboard which I love and I've ordered the e-sport g1nl from you. I feel the tactile click in the browns (and even more-so for blues) is unnecessary and takes away from linear actuation, which I like to have when gaming, but for typing a tactile click is nice to have, but not necessary, so overall cherry reds are winners for me.

        • @TRANCE: I've got brown switch in a Logitech G710+ at home, black at work. I find very little difference in the two when not paying attention (which often during gaming I am not paying attention to how the keys feel). I would probably prefer black switches in my Logitech at home. Maybe I just use my work keyboard more than home, getting too used to it.

The first world problem that is choice/options.

  • How would you compare the quality between the Colada Saint G3NL Blue and the Tesoro Lobera Supreme G5NFL Full Color

Also can you get the G5SNFL cheap?

    • colada is aluminium clad on the top, also has better Cherry Mx switches.
