  • Sorry I am confused, so what time exactly does this deal start for people in Sydney? Also we only allowed to purchase 1 item per customer?

    • Sorry - will edit the main description, but i think since the page above is SGT Singapore time - so it's + 3.
      1pm Sydney time hopefully.

        • +1

          Where you headed North Korea?

        • @xii: haha….I wont have time to get access to a computer and hate using my phone for ordering stuff online. If I really wanted to I could buy it, but kinda lazy to use my phone.

    • Just wanted to confirm, I bought a kraken 7.1 classic AND a razer naga classic and got 50% off BOTH. I wasn't intending for that to happen but it did. Shop responsibly folks.

  • Should start tomorrow lunch time.

I feel like their website is going to get hammered..

    • +5

At the same sale last year the website went down pretty quick and then when it came back most stuff was out of stock.

      • +3

The website got hammered, they stuffed up the codes and by the time people worked out how to get it to work most things were out of stock… they did do a make up sale, but again most stuff was out of stock by the time you got to checkout…

        • +1

GOT SMASHED!! by the time i got there 1305 almost everything was gone and I was having to refresh a page 6 times just to view it.
          Managed to get one though

  • Dangit. If only I had a need to purchase, this would be a ripper deal to use!

    • +6

"If only I had a need to purchase…"

Are you sure that you belong here? :)

      • +2

I bought new gear from Dickies while they had cheap stuff left, so this isn't necessary.

It's best to be savvy with purchasing decisions, else the bargains are for nought if you're wasting money on things you don't need :)

    • +1

Awesome. If only I had a use for the stuff I'm going to purchase, this is a ripper deal to use!

Corrected your spelling mistakes. Please pay more attention in future.

  • So looking at their site, I couldn't really tell what was good value and what wasn't. Anyone got their sights on anything that is good value?

    • +1

pretty much everythihng.. 50% is pretty huge

  • +2

Your Leica black dot avatar made me click this.

    • +1

less chances of being stolen :)

      • No Leica dot even nicer ;D

  • +7

Keep in mind if you don't spend $89 for the free shipping it is ~$27.

  • Are razer mech keyboards any good?

    • +9

I purchased the Razer blackwidow 2016 from Amazon for xmas. I liked the keyboard but unfortunately their quality control on the switches is somewhat lacking, one of the keys would register input with barely any actuation. I return it Amazon and now looking at getting real cherry MX switches, most likey a k70

      • +1

As someone who just got a k70 on the last ebay sale. It is good.

    • +7

eh, I have an older model that still uses cherry switches and I love it, but the newer models use their own proprietary razor switches, and keyboard enthusiasts aren't happy about it.

A lot of people also moan about the build quality or Razor, but personally all my Razor stuff outlasted my logitech stuff, so each their own.

If you're a casual gamer / typer you will probably really enjoy it. If you are an enthusiast, you probably wouldn't have asked

    • +2

I gave up on Razer keyboards. I bought a Blackwidow in 2012, left shift key didn't work, took it back got it replaced, left alt key didn't work, took it back got it replaced "c" key didn't work.

Saying that, I have a mouse pad from them that works excellently… haven't tried any other products.

      • I bought one around the same time as well. My R key wouldn't light up. So I returned it and got a replacement and it's been good ever since. For a very expensive keyboard, the level of Quality and checking is unacceptable.

      • I really like their mice, but left click always tend to die out real quick.
I had the Habu, Razor MS hybrid, the shape was perfect and interchangeable side clicks.

    • I have 3 different mech keyboards.
The Razor is not the best out of them, but it for the price I would have no hesitation recommending it. I have the blackwidow ultimate bought in 2015. For reference I have the following keyboards: Filco Majestouch Ninja Tenkeyless x2, and a Filco Majestouch Minila Air.
It is far better than any sub $150 non mech keyboard. I use it for gaming and work (developer).

    • +1

      Basically, no.

They were decent at some point, but if you want proper switches and decent standard spacing keys - stay away from Razor.

    • For these prices yes, but if you mean in general I don't think so.

Razer uses (if I'm not wrong) khalil rebranded switches which are basically Chinese knock offs of the cherry switches. The quality of these switched are a bit lack lustre but I think for these prices, it's a steal. You're pretty much not paying for the "1337 g4mer" markup

  • +5

"From now till January 25th, orders over AU$139 will receive a Back To School Bundle."
What's in the, back to school bundle?

    • +4

Probably a backpack and pencil case. Some shitty merch.

    • +5

You get a LEET pack which includes

      Razer Door Hanger
      Razer Stencil
      Razer Coaster
      Razer Lanyard
      Razer Laptop Sticker
      Razer Decal
      Razer Tattoo Stickers

      A seperate poster

      and a seperate stencil

You can check this by adding something to your cart worth more that $139

  • Includes their VR headset OSVR?

  • edit. never mind

  • What would be the best mechanical keyboard to get for under $200 (so under $100 with the 50% off)?

  • Seems their keyboards no longer use Cherry switches. Any opinions on the Razer brand switches?

    • I personally hate how they feel, and hear they have some QC issues.

      • Thanks. Will go for the Tesoro deal instead.

        • That'll use the same manufacturer of switches (Kailh), so will be similar, but if it's a lot cheap then go for it.

        • Where is the tesoro deal?

  • Has anyone had any experience with the RAZER HAMMERHEAD Earphones?

    • +1

      broke after 2 months

      • But was the sound quality good?

        • +1

bass was awesome, other than that it's just like a MI Piston

  • +9

Considering that my last 2 Razor gaming keyboards have broken down due to keys failing, I won't be bothering with this sale.

    • They typically have decent quality, at least in my opinion.

    • What mechanical keyboard would you reccomend? K70/K90 / steelseries?

      • +1

Any Ducky, Corsair Strafe if you must.

K70 is extremely overrated since the aluminium is purely cosmetic.

        • Nice to hear a different opinion. How about CM Storm QuickFire Rapid or Das Keyboard?

        • +1

@rodinthink: The Quickfire Rapid is kinda hard to find in Australia but it's a great keyboard without bells and whistles. The Rapid-i is great also but to older batches have LED issues where each light will die within weeks of each other, so I would just avoid it altogether.

Das Keyboard is overpriced and known for bait-and-switch tactics. They built their reputation on having high quality Costar-manufactured boards but they switched their manufacturer to some Chinese one where the quality you are paying for degraded. They also use Greetech switches (seemingly 5-10x cheaper than Cherry MX) are are scratchier than Cherry MX yet still charge a premium price tag on their models without numberpad. There was a survey on /r/mechanicalkeyboards and Das Keyboard was voted the most overrated keyboard and I agree with them.

Anything else, I can help you but I'm no expert/freak.

        • +1

+1 for Ducky. Absolutely love their keyboards.

Shine 5 at home. One at work.

        • @shot:
~ I just did some deep research in /r/mechanicalkeyboards and come out with final conclusion for:

          1. Cheery MX Brown (I know blue sound nice but it's too risky to resale. It make people self-conscious when they're writting as it's noisy)

          2. I found out that Ducky Shine is made of plastic with aluminium case (but great build quality though), so My choice come down to either Strafe or K70 RGB.

          a.K70 RGB

          Pros:
          -Better Build Quality
-Media Keys (mute, previous, next, volume scroll)

          Cons:
-Works best at 512 colors (i assume) because it Flickers when trying to use 16.8 million colors.
Is there any big difference bet ween 512 colors and 16.8 million colors?
          -Black back

          b.STRAFE RGB

          Pros:
          -USB pass-through
          -16.8 million color lighting
          -No trampstamp logo
          -White back (more radiant lighiting)
          -Cherry Silent Switch
          -Different character font?

          Cons:
          -Plastic Body. no metal construction
-Keys cap looks bigger and abit unnatural

"K70 is extremely overrated since the aluminium is purely cosmetic."

Ow really? That's something new, Cosmetic.

        • @Powershopz:
Would like to try but I prefer safe option :(

        • +1

@rodinthink: k70 has an sheet of aluminium to the top but that doesn't actually impact the keyboard build quality or anything since the rest is plastic and many plastic keyboards have metal plates in them anyway.

The k70 is limited to 512 colours while it's fixed on the newer Strafe RGB.

          CONCLUSION: Strafe RGB.

        • @shot:

          Nice :)

This keyboard is great and somehow eb offer it at a competitive price

  • Best mouse for large hands?

    • +17

      A rat?

    • +2

Been using a DeathAdder for years. Most comfortable mouse I've found.

    • +1

Any other brand. Their mice are notoriously small.

    • +2

I use a Logitech G700s at work and Chroma DeathAdder at home… the G700s is more comfortable for me

      • +1

I prefer the Deathadder for gaming as it's lighter and puts less strain on the hand during vigorous gaming use. k

        • I like the deathadder, it is great for gaming etc… When it dies though I will probably go back to logitech…

    • Roccat Kone XTD Optical

  • Still we have to wait another day before this officially starts : (

    • no we don't?

      • Asia-Pacific sale starts: 15th Jan 10am SGT
        01 DAY 01 HOUR 48 MIN 54 SEC

  • Darn!

I already bought the blackwidow ultimate keyboard during the ebay 15% sale! I would've saved just over $20 if I bought it from this sale (and I would've walked away with a 2016 version of the keyboard too!)

  • If your thinking of getting the Chroma headset. Add a spare pair of earcups to cart to bring the total to $95.45 so to avoid the $27 shipping cost.

    • +4
      • Each customer/shipping destination is allowed to place only one (1) order with a maximum of one (1) item.
      • Well damn that is a real shame.

    • you will have to pay for shipping, not worth it can buy else where for the headset cheaper.

  • +5

I hope the quality of razor gear has improved. Had to RA a $180 mouse 2 times before I gave up and put up with it.

    • +7

Doubt it. Their QC is quite poor.

      • I've had multiple friends need to RMA their Xbox controllers from Razor. On the plus side, they seemed to be fairly reasonable within the warranty period and they all got new controllers (some of which then also failed however)

        • "reasonable within warranty period", outside of warranty period is where the product reliability will really matter. :(

        • My razer onza had an issue where the left stick would think you were holding it in the up position so I did the rma process and instead of sending it back they just got me to cut the cable on it and send a photo. They sent out a replacement one and after 2 months the stick on that was acting like it is held too. As I used it primarily as a PC gaming controller I used the first one about 15 times before it malfunctioned and the second one less than 10 times.

My friend uses razer deathadder mouse and he's bought replacement ones 4 times over the last 5yrs because they just keep dying. He also had a keyboard from them that he had to replace because half of the keys wouldn't accept any input anymore.

I wouldn't recommend anyone buy this brand as you get better quality gear for cheaper from more reputable brands, razer has a very cool marketing image though which is what you are really buying.

  • Yeah their quality isn't something to be proud of especially their mice but at half price, I'm willing to give it a try.

  • I assume the $89 free shipping condition is after the 50% off?

  • +1

Hi, how do I make the accounts so I can have access to this deal? I didn't fully understand. Thanks

    • I just Googled Razer ID (but I already had one) and Razer Insider and it was pretty easy from there (I think I went to 'Forums' on the Raser Insider website to get it set up)

      • Thanks! I did manage to do it
