better luck next time, no need to negative

    • +3

I think MOD's need to crack down on neg votes. So many are given these days for the wrong reason the neg is there for. Some stupid reasons to neg recently

      • Agreed! I bet ya you would of snapped 5 your self as well… and your calling us greedy.

  • Any 1 want to sell me 1:}

Not wanna sound like a whinging sook who missed out…

    I'll pay $3…lol

    • +2

Check ebay in 14 days time! :)

    • +2

seriously, I'll sell you one for $3 (+ postage)

      • +1

Unfortunately the cheapest parcel (250g) is $4.35. That makes it $7.35!

        • +2

These would be small enough to fit through the letter slot if you removed the case.

  • +2

    Please accept paypal next time!

  • +1

    Damn it. I missed out
Had to have this offer when i was busy :(

  • +1

If it was limited to 1 or 2 per person I would have had a chance to get one.

Now there will be countless unused torches sitting in peoples cupboards just because they could and/or were just greedy. :(

    • +1

Your 6 hours late, even if it was 1 or 2 each you would have likely missed out.

2 will go on car keyrings and the other 3 i'll most likely give to my friends.

      • +2

saw it a few hours ago, but just thought I'd post my disapointment now.

If the stock levels were enough to last until ~4 hours ago (if all that ordered are supplied), then it would stand to reason that a limit of two per person would have stretched the availability period for at least another 3 hours.

I'll kick back an watch the flooding of ebay with these. It will happen, I have no doubt of this. There are plenty of vultures scratching around on the board.

        • +2

True that there are, and its killed many offers that once existed.

  • if the limit was only 1 or 2 per sale, i would bet the farm many people will just create another account or two and order more than the original maximum of 5!
ps great gift idea that actually GETS used and not thrown in the dresser…

  • Also bummed out I missed this, wish they limited to 1-2 pp!

    • -6

I missed out because they wouldn't @*#$ing accept Paypal! Bunch of nooblets!

  • i missed out as well >.<

  • 2 people voted the deal neg?? must have been two that missed out….

  • -1

I didn't miss out but I agree about snapping up 5 being too much

  • +1

Well, if they just wanted to clear them out, Limiting the number to 1-2 just means more admin/envelopes.

  • anyone got your order shipped?
Mine's still on "on order" status.

    • mine too…..

    • Nothing here yet…

    • same here, going to be very peeved off if my order is cancelled.

  • -1

    my order got cancelled!!!

    • Why wtf, mines on order still.

    • +3

well, reading from your comments above, did u order 100? if yes, u should be expecting this, shouldn't u?

  • Read the second comment of this post. Its only been 5 business days so far. Dont ring the ACCC just yet lol

  • same as here, order status "on order"

  • +1

Got my maglite in the mail yesterday, only received 1 with a letter saying they ran out of stock and couldn't fill the order. VERY POORLY DONE!!! Not HAPPY!!! guess none of my friends is getting a "free" gift. But they did offer to refund the additional $3.03 shipping. =(

    • +3

SAME HERE. I ordered 5 BEFORE it was sold out. Only received ONE. NOT HAPPY AT ALL! OzBargain should have a feature to allow revision of the +ve.

    • +1

      Same here, not happy.

    • at least you got your "free gift" mine is still "on order".

  • +1

Has anyone that ordered them actually received more than one piece?
My order is still showing as "on order"

Hey a free gift is great but would be unlikely to bother with that site again if they stuff this up.

    • -2

I was the 2nd one to comment on this post. only got one, but i dont think its worth a neg. even if you only get one, its still a decent deal. The light feels very sturdy and hard to break, the light output is only average, a $15 led one i bought from dealextreme is much stronger, but still good to keep around.

To the store rep, after we claim the cash back online, do we still need to send a letter to your physical address?

      • +2

there r people who bought this taking into consideration that they r getting 5 for $6. n this is what is shown on the order confirmation/payment page, so i dont think giving us 1 n refunding us $3 is a way of doing business. if one is to give out something for free but u have to pay say $1000 postage n u could order up to say 20 of it with no additional costs, does this justify the person to send us 1 unit because the item has run out of stock without compensating us?

        • +2

agreed. they should give people the option of either canceling the order or going through with an alternative offer, instead of supplying 1 item only and assuming the customer is going to be happy with that.

the rep clearly stated it was a max of 5 per customer to begin with.
it seems a bit misleading now…

    • Mine still showing "on order"… :(

  • +3

Yep, I also only received one piece today (with letter), despite ordering 5 in the first few minutes of the deal being posted.

I entered into a contract of sale with this company for 5 units at a price of $6.09. At no time did I agree to purchase 1 unit at $3.05, which is effectively what this is costing after the refund. Whether one unit at this price is good value, or not, is totally irrelevant.

What a PR disaster for this company.

    • +2

Totally agree with you. I also got my order today with the 1 piece and letter. Extremely disapointed with the way this site conducts its business. Never again.

      • +3

Never again indeed….What a complete waste of time….if only I could remove my Positive and replace it with a NEG I would.

I look forward to seeing what other OB members think of this when their packages arrive in the coming days.

    • +5

I too received one piece today, despite ordering five as you did. Your contractual analysis is spot on, and here's another take on it: I agreed to pay $1.22 for one piece, being one fifth of $6.09. Instead I paid $3.05, a shocking 250% increase over what was agreed.

It seems that Always On Sale has attempted to salvage their gross overselling of the Maglites by spreading their available stock over all those who bought at least one. If they had simply filled orders as they came in and issued a full refund to me when there was no stock left, I would have probably been disappointed but just gone about my business. Instead (and here's the irony), by attempting to placate by sending me just one item, they have clearly demonstrated their poor stock management and successfully alienated me as a potential repeat customer.

      Bravo, AlwaysOnSale.com.au, bravo.

P.S. Spent the "complementary" Maglite $10 promo code and the March joining code on separate orders for a $10 4GB Verbatim SDHC card. Total RRP value inc shipping: $62.48; total post-discount value inc shipping: $32.48; total spend inc shipping: $12.48. Savings of 80% off RRP and 60% off already-discounted price (values of 500% / 260% of price paid) respectively. Guess I'm coming out on top… ;)

      • +2

Exactly how I feel matthawke… their promo has completely backfired as far as I'm concerned, I am now annoyed with AOS and will never deal with them again for an expensive purchase.

Also, they chucked the maglite into a non padded envelope to send which is irresponsible, because it could easily have arrived with a smashed case.

      • -1

whats the march joining code? dont need it but if its worth salvaging illa take it..LOL..
because if u just use the 10 bucks theres still like a 6 dollar postage on that card also…so yeah..

  • +6

They should be contacting people about orders and asking whether they wanted to proceed with the orders.

The cost per unit when buying max 5 units was $1.22. With them only refunding half the postage the cost per unit rises by a factor of 2.5 times.

If they are not going to contact buyers and offer them the choice they really should be refunding $4.85 to bring down the price to the advertised price.

    Very poor form indeed!

  • +5

time to go to Office of Fair Trading, if you order 5 for a price and they cant fulfill the order, then it is not at their discretion how much they charge for 1…. thoughts

    • -2

Well, in all honesty mate, I doubt anyone would get that worked up about something so trivial. Technically right perhaps but who could be be bothered for a couple of bucks? $3 for a mini maglite set is still superb value.
I'd say the Rep tried to offer a real gift to everyone and somehow cocked it up in the implementation. Just give the website the big avoid in the future.
But hey, I still live in the microscopic hope that I might receive my five… :p

      • +1

If 1000 people ordered 5, that would be 5000 in stock and they would get $6090 in sales, if they only offer 1 per order, they get $3050, they make 50% of the sale for 20% of prodcut sold, better profit margin, greater cost to consumer

  • +4

crock of sh!t to only get 1 when ordering 5 - with a 50% refund for losing 80% of what you ordered…

  • +6

i just got only one as well i will be going to OOFT and reporting this as bating us as no one would just buy 1

we all need to phone them and get at least a full refund

  • +5

what a load of crap, Paid for 5 only got 1 shipped no refund, and no paypal support so I couldn't even raise an issue with them! Will never buy from them again.

  • +6

I also received 1 instead of 5 and am very disappointed.
When I placed the order I never received any email confirmation and I found their website to be amateurish at best (no paypal? rubbish login method? etc.).
To get my refund I had to ring and speak to a (professional and polite sounding) customer service officer.
My $3.04 refund (I felt ridiculous even ringing for it) should be with me in 10 days maximum.
Considering they already know that you are due a refund why don't they just automatically action it? Why does the customer have to request a refund? Ridiculous.
Seeing as this was a PR stunt meant to run at a loss (just the postage and admin costs would be much greater than what I have paid, let alone the maglight) why didn't they simply limit the quantity per customer to 1?
As someone posted earlier, this is a PR disaster for alwaysonsale.com.au. I will never buy anything from them again.
My guess is that this is a branch of a retail company trying to establish itself online (the packaging, the letter and the customer service number were professional) and getting a few logistics wrong, which unfortunately are enough to seriously and negatively affect their plans.
Although the maglight is well worth $3, I wouldn't have bought it had I known I was only getting 1.

  • +3

we all need to phone them and get at least a full refund

  • +5

    Only received one.
And the refund process is tedious.

  • +5

If there was an automatic refund, the $3 maglite might still be a good deal. I'd be a bit miffed I wasn't contacted first to see if I wanted to go ahead with the deal at all.

But I hate having to chase up refunds. That part has turned this into a negative deal IMO.

  • +4

Called to tell them I'm unwilling to post a receipt to get the refund (per the instructions in the email) and was told they'll email the administrators to ask for a response and I should expect a reply within 2 working days. Great way to make sure I won't shop there in future.

The discount coupon is decent I guess, I just wish they wouldn't make it difficult to retrieve money that really should be refunded automatically.

Edit: Tried to use the coupon on a cheap item not mentioned in the exclusions, but apparently it is excluded … patience is wearing thin.

  • +6

Okay, so I filled in the form online and got my $3.00 refund today via Paypal (i did not send them the receipt)… which was kinda strange because I paid via Visa. I then bought an item worth $10.00 with the $10.00 coupon, but postage is $6 something. I am now questioning myself wether the item I bought was actually worth $6.00 to begin with. Fool me once shame on you, fool me twice shame on me.. Damn it.. SHAME ON ME!

    • Hi Ghossst, could you please advise where I can find the receipt. I didn't get any receipt from the seller.

      • The Receipt is the original email they sent you

  • +5

And I notice their $10 voucher cannot be used towards postage costs, which just annoys me further.

  • +3

I wish i could now vote negative on this deal, but it wont even let me retract my positive vote. Why doesnt the rep who posted this deal - bobsuruncle - come on here and give us an explanation. He was online today so he would of seen these comments!!

  • +5

i bought 5, but they only sent 1. this is a blatant scam and i hope everyone call/emails the relevant authorities because they cannot get away with this by offering us a $10 voucher.

  • +5

bobsuruncle, seeing as your website doesn't include an email address, I'll try my luck here. Please cancel my order 22005 and reverse the credit transaction.

It might seem petty fighting over a mere $3, but if you end up sending me one torch, I will gladly refer the matter to fair trading. Hell I'll even go to small claims court, lodging the paper work only costs $50, which you will end up paying if the magistrate rules in my favour.

We are only asking you to follow the law, its not that hard…

  • +1

Hmmm, my order status is still:

21824 MAGLITE SOLITAIRE TORCH 10/03/2010 "On Order" - anyone else?

    Perhaps nothing for me?
The Rep really needs to come on here and fix this up.
    Talk about a P.R. clusterfark….

    • Still haven't received mine either…

  • +4

I also only receive 1 while I order 5 of them within minutes of their post. I don't think anyone will ever get 5. This is blatant scam.
Regardless of cheap or not cheap, the price difference between 1 and 5 will alter someone decision to buy or not to buy on this deal.
Lucky I haven't vote, so I can vote negative for this deal.

I just claim refund for the postage of the rest of item, while still unhappy with this deal poster. I will never buy anything from their store either. Their discount code is also another scam, try to lure people to further buy and fallen into their trap.
Their price is not cheap for the start, and with shipping on top, it will come out that the coupon code is yet further scam.

The rep is also gone and never reply any post. I believe he is hiding now…

    • +3

I agree. bobsuruncle whats going on???

    • So did the order status change in your account when the item was sent out?

Trying to work out if I am likely to receive anything now…

  • +2

I feel very annoyed, I was one of the very first people to post on this comment and first to pay… To only get one light and half my money back.

I hope someone contacts ACCC, if I ever see another alwaysonsale 'bargain' on here I'll neg and remind them of this rip.

  • +2

Not impressed. I agreed to buying 5, not 1. Is this legal?

    • +2

definitely not, bate and scam. Entered into a contract for 5 torches for $6. It is legally binding, if they have no stock they should contact us not send us 1 and say sorry not enough stock. Still waiting for my torch or TORCHES. If I get one I will be very pissed off.

  • +4

These guys should be publicly named and shamed on OzBargain homepage, then permanently BANNED

    • +2

Agreed! I hope they fulfill it and send me 5, still waiting.

      • +2

If you do get 5, you will be the first!

  • +2

UNCLE BOB where are you? We want to hear from you.

    • +2

of course he is ignoring & hiding.

  • -1

how do we know that he's an actual rep? after posting the deal, he hasn't posted anything else on this post.

    • +2

He's posted 23 deals, all from Always on Sale, and he's marked as an Always on Sale rep.

  • +2

Anyone care to write a review for this company?

    http://www.productreview.com.au/showshop.php?shop_id=1380

    • Ironic "You will receive exactly what you ordered in a secure environment, conveniently delivered to your door."

      Really now lol

    • +2

Submitted mine and will submit elsewhere too. Interesting how bad Always On Sale's reviews are already from 2009 !!!

  • +3

Well….looks like everyone has cracked the sh1ts now.

Time to go into damage control, Bob.
The world of online selling is way different to retail. I doubt people care much about a few dollars but they definitely care a lot about control and communication. Whoever decided to offer people five and then give them one each without consulting , messed up.
Perhaps you can find still find a way to fulfill these orders? Alwaysonsale's reputation is going to be haunted by this if not.

  • +3

    bobsuruncle

Please refund us the full money - when I placed the order, the system told me the order was successfull

Have anyboy lodged any complaint to paypal? (if you paid via paypal)

  • +2

This is the 1st time ever for me that a company would assume honouring half of the order (in this case 1 out of 5) would be acceptable without even consulting with the customer before hand. Just UNBELIEVABLE. BOB, its better to speak out then just ignoring us, you're making yourself look even worst by hiding.

  • +2

Well one more company in the process to learn NOT to betray with OZBARGAIN
Its a shame - few people is complaining agaisnt this
MODS, can't we make this thread sticky and change the heading to something more meaningful? (e.g. this company makes no sense) - also please allow us to change our voting (I know its 72 Hours plus)

Its not for the money value (-$$3.04 - $.065 postage) - this is a SCAM

  • +5

Again! Another negative vote for miscommunications!

The order was originally 5 for $6.09.

If they don't have enough stock, fine. A choice should be provided for whether you want to proceed with the order or full refund!

Even a simple email would have been better than nothing.

alwaysonsale.com.au is now blacklisted in my books. I'll be sure to tell my friends and family about my experience from this little PR stunt, should they ever consider purchasing anything from them.

  • +6

BOBSURUNCLE should be banned, his last login was yesterday, he is definitely reading our comments and hoping we will go away. Everyone who has received one please go here and write a review.
    http://www.productreview.com.au/showshop.php?&shop_id=1380&s…
Don't forget to make it one STAR*.
Hopefully we can get their rating to 1 star or if possible half a star. Flood the reviews with negatives.

    • +3

I'm with R3Xnebular, the company should be banned from ozbargain.

This company has treated the oz-bargain community with utter contempt, but simply changing the terms of sale without any consultation.

Community members entered into a contract with this company, the three components of a legally binding contract were sound "an offer, consideration & acceptance", and the seller simply adjusted the terms of the contract to suit him/herself.

If that isn't grounds for a total ban, or at the very least a significant suspension, god help us! This sort of behaviour by a seller makes "sock-puppeting" look benign.

  • +2

Oh dear, was just wondering why I haven't received anything and came to check on the thread, only to find this mess. My status still says "on order".

Hm, obviously gave a positive too soon - but wouldn't have expected a store like theirs to "scam" us like this and with no response from the REP too. What a shame. It did cross my mind that they'd probably not honour some of the orders due to stock levels but wouldn't have guessed they'd not even give you a chance to cancel your order or update you on what's going on. Just when I thought no online store can be worse than DELL..

  • +5

I called them asking for a full refund since my order still "on order", the lady phone operator told me that I will get an email to confirm order cancellation, haven’t received anything yet. I told her why I am canceling and she said your order says 5 then you should get 5, but after the overwhelming confirmation from people on ozbargain I pretty sure no one will ever get 5. If the earliest people got them got only 1 then how can it be a stock shortage problem?! It is clearly a scam and those stupid bluffers thought they can get away with it……..

PLEASE EVERYBODY REPORT THEM TO THE AUTHORITIES AND PLEASE MOD, BAN THEM FROM OZBARGAIN.

  • +2

OMG, this saga is getting more and more annoying. My refund was "DENIED" because the product I put in was "not eligible for a cashback". This is DESPITE calling it a Maglite, and putting in my order number. I didn't call it the exact name, and so far AOS have sent me FIVE emails stating the cashback is denied. GET IT TOGETHER!!!

  • +7

Received one Maglite and the letter. Disatrous PR and a guaranteed way to alienate potential customers. Can't decide whether this is a bait and switch, a scam to get everyones email addresses, or a rort to give you a coupon so the gullible will go on their website and spend their "complementary gesture".

They should be processing automatic refunds. Wish I could neg this now.

  • +7

we should all give -ve to all posts made about alwaysonsale and post a link back to this deal so any ozbargainers unaware of this debacle and are thinking about purchasing from them will reconsider.

    • +4

      Fully support Ozzzie

Its Sad that, OZBARGAIN Mods still not responding to our request
      So I will ask again:

MODS, can we please change the +ve to -ve? Also can we make this a sticky thread (I know we are not forums etc)
This will make sure: Dodgy Sellers like "alwaysonsale" will think twice to setup another Scam

      • We have just come upon this thread - we dont troll every thread especially deals that have"closed" help us help you

And changing you vote now. Whats that going to achieve, the deals over. Negative voting before its over where people can be warned ahead of time

USE either the REPORT function, talk to a mod forum or at least like another member has done, the general forum. That way we can help or at least try to. Help us so we can help you. Thanks

  • They have another deal for a free first aid kit. Can we use the $10 discount on this for the freight??
    http://www.alwaysonsale.com.au/aos/products/72299-free-st-jo…

    • No Pickles13 you can't, it doesnt work on postage.

  • +2

i ordered and am still waiting for my FIVE and not ONE lights, but to those who say 'it's not much, don't worry about it' i say this; what if the item cost more money? in a way we are lucky it was a small item, like a trial run which they FAILED, and to the company reps @alwaysonsale who read this, for a few bucks you have LOST many $$$ in future sales!!

ps they may have the upper hand(but not moral ground) as the item itself was advertised as free, just postage was to be paid, but this practice is getting a bad rep, should be banned i think, should have been advertised as $1.20 per light with free ship, up to 5 lights per order
