Ozito 36v 3.0ah Cordless Lawn Mower $249 @ Bunnings (Was $299, in 2015 $439)

440

Noticed on pricehipster that price has dropped by $50 on a few of the Ozito 36v cordless tools although I think the mower is the best value , considering the Ryobi equivalent is twice the price at $499 - http://www.bunnings.com.au/ryobi-36v-4-0ah-li-ion-cordless-l…

The others:
Ozito 36V 3.0Ah Li-Ion Cordless Chainsaw - $159 was $199 - link
Ozito 36V Li-ion Cordless Line Trimmer - $149 was $199 - link
Ozito 36V 3.0Ah Li-Ion Cordless Blower - $149 was $199 - link

  • whats the banned tag?

    • no idea, same tag on hundreds of things for some reason..

    • +2

Banned tag would indicate that the OP attempted, at some stage, to add a tag which is not allowed on OzBargain. Such tags could have been the store name for example (eg. 'Bunnings' in this case).

Not a deal… A STEAL! I paid $180 just under 10 months ago for one with all the same running gear (but different body) used.

There are plenty of others I'd rather get over this but the price just can't be beat! Upvote from myself. Plus parts are available at Bunning's (service/parts/special orders desk). Although you could repair it yourself even cheaper if you were handy.

  • Wow, what are electric lawn-mawers like? I didn't realise they exist (parents always had a petrol one)

    • I had a wired ozito mower which was fine. Sold it when I moved into my new house and previous owner left a petrol mower with a broken starter cord in the shed (3 minute fix). Any who, it cut grass well and was light enough that I could pick it up and use it as a hedge trimmer as well.

The 2 things I didn't like about it was that it had a cord and it was made of plastic and after 3 years the front left wheel broke off.

    • I have an EGO 56V (lol "EGO") and would not go back to a petrol mower. I previously had a corded Ozito, and the cord was annoying - but the cordless ticks all the boxes. It's light and quiet, so I listen to my iPod while I mow the lawn. And I don't stink of two stroke afterwards.

    • Just imagine all the things in xx years (maybe 5?) that we can convert to electrical once batteries are smaller and cheaper. Mowers just the start.

The issue, as identified below, is the charge time. Some electric mowers only last for 45min on a charge; offal below says 3-4hrs with this model which seems perfectly fine for almost everyone; but the website doesn't actually say anything other than 'up to 400m2' (if you run?)

    • We had a cheapie at a small 1 bedroom unattached unit for my mother, was pretty good. very light and cut the same

  • "you can cut up to 400m² of grass on a single charge"….how long does a single charge last? 2 hours/3 hours/4 hours?

  • 3 year warranty, check the exclusions…
Previous model was only 12 months on the batteries which die just before that

  • Be aware that these are often a promotional item, I bought one a couple of years ago at Bunnings & when I went to return it under warranty they didn't have the same model so I had to upgrade - they said they get a certain number of each model and when they're gone they're gone.
Having said that the upgraded model I got works well as did the original (just died because they are cheap) and they come with an excellent warranty which Bunnings will honour if you keep your receipt that long.

    Is Ozito's line trimmer good?

    • Yep, we got the cheapy one - does the job. The only annoying thing is the replace spool mechanism, you have to buy the ozito branded one - and if they are out of stock then you're up the creek. I have in the past retro fitted normal spool, but it was a pain.

    It looks so ugly lol

becos it matters how good it looks wen mowing the lawn

Got one of the mowers about two months ago ($299) Best thing iver ever done, no hassle, just plug it in and off you go.

Says it lasts about 4 hours, ive just recharged after 3-4 mows… no worries.

The only fault i could find is it could cut a little lower… but so little hassle, if i need to mow every couple of weeks, jobs easy :)

  • Ozito is OK but don't expect it can last very long, you got what you paid. I have the wired one the last one broken down just after warranty period, motor dead.

    • ACL?

      • Actually I think I mixed up, it should be the trimmer. Because it is only like a $60 one and they said they couldn't warranty it even just a month over.

The mower last me a few years.

A dual battery version like Ryobi would be better so you can interchange 18V batteries with hand tools

    • +1

      Agreed.

I think it's better to stick to one 'system' so you can use the batteries across a range of tools. Also means you can just buy the skins and build up the collection as you need.

      • I am surprised how slow Ozito/Bunnings have been to release a more comprehensive range like Ryobi One Plus

I have the following from Ryobi (I'm not a tradie):
        Drill/Driver
        Brushless Hammer Drill/Driver
        Rotary Hammer
        Torch
        Circular Saw 165mm
        Reciprocating Saw
        Orbital Sander
        Silicon Gun
        Staple Gun
        Hand Vacuum
        Multi Tool
        Lawn Mower
        Blower
        Whipper Snipper
        Chainsaw
        2x 1.5 amp batteries
        1x 2.5 amp battery
        2x 4amp battery
        1x 5 amp battery

I'll get the jigsaw & angle grinder when my electrical ones die

        • What do you think about the One+ mower that uses two batteries? Using two sounds a bit strange but might work fine. Can you mix batteries eg one 5amp and one 2amp?

        • +1

@shemethy: That's the mower I have. Yes you can mix battery amperages.

This looks like a good deal, nice post OP.

Don't know if it might help anyone, but for a bit of context on electric mowers, I bought this 56v Ego electric mower at Masters on special a while back. It has enough power to mow a small yard 4-5 times on one charge. Had no problems at all with it during the year I've had it. Nice not having to deal with petrol/oil and it's less noisy than the petrol ones. https://www.masters.com.au/product/101351897/ego-56v-electri…

  • Any thoughts how this compares to the Gray's Online run out - $149 for Ringgrip battery lawn mower:

      It's for hairdressers and vegans?

  • Is this better than Flymo?

    • Do they make real mowers now?

  • Hmmmm awesome price but I still love petrol! :)

  • The Bosch Rotak 43 Li is around $599 at Masters, so this is a steal…

    • I have been disappointed with the design details of the Bosch blower Vac I bought (ie covers you in dust). Sent them an email about it and heard nothing back. Not very impressed for a major brand name.

  • The last EGO deal from Masters seems is very good, around $500 after eBay discount.

  • Anyone know for certain whether the battery is also a 3 year warranty like the mower?

    • battery is one year pretty sure

This is only good for small and thin lawns. I just bought one. Not that good. says last 400m2 but i could barely get through 100. On the lowest height it struggled with the lawn and even just completely stopped.

ended up taking it back and exchanged for a petrol one. Could of just been a faulty unit. but i couldn't be bothered trying another one.

Maybe M assters can blow this one now that Woolies is giving Massters the dicksmith love…

  • Make sure you actually go and pick the line trimmer up, I hated it as all the weight is in the head where the motor is. This is the opposite of a normal 2 stroke where the weight is at the back. In fact, none of the electric trimmers felt good in the hand, which is a pity because I hate my 2 stroke one :(

  • very smooth ride.. good for value

Cheers! Purchased today and mowed my entire lawn :) I only have roughly 200mq worth to cut, and this thing does the job as intended to! :)

    • Always good to hear a real user's review!

Yep! So what happened my old rover mower stays outside in the weather.. I went to start it today and no dice! I'm not sure what is wrong with it, maybe the spark plug I dunno.. it's just over 2 Years old, I've handed it down to my father in law to look into it, but I wanted to mow today!

So I checked Ozbargain for mowers and found this! Moments later walked into a bunnings store (Oxley) they had no price mentioned on the shelf so I took it to the counter and yep $249 :)

Got it home assembled it (The battery is apparently half charged.. However it did my back and front but died on the last strip of lawn! But expected it) Considering it hadn't been charged yet

But overall very impressed with it and it's decent enough 36v and not a tiny 18v :)
