And so the fire sale begins.

    • +4

I saw this item for this price in November, so it is not part of the fire sale.

    • +1

$19 hedge trimmer…. Second hand, formerly used to trim profits :)

  • +2

Can you pay by Gift Card ?

    • +8

Not if it's a Dick Smith gift card.

    • +1

For now yes, not too sure about distant future.

      • haha will be interesting - given woolies aren't going bankrupt - im assuming they will have to buy back your gift cards, unless they have some sneaky way of getting around it, but why would they - that would be a PR nightmare!

  • +3

Electric hedge trimmer doesn't sound dangerous at all….

    • +36

It has automatic cut off if the electrical lead is severed.

      • -4

        Are you sure?

It's not listed in the description.

        • +56

Certain, it's electronics 101, if you cut the lead the machine will automatically cut off…

      • +1

Has that been patented yet? I am submitting my patent application now, just in case.

    • Not really. But "$19 electric hedge trimmer" sounds scary as hell to me.

  • Anyone know whether I can use this hedger to cut TANIKA Lomandra longifolia plant?
Thanks in advance for the advice

    • +2

I don't see why not. Worst case scenario, return it. It is $19! Your normal shears would have cost you at least $10 already.

    • +2

      Buy it
If it doesnt take it back
      Report back with results.

    • +1

If the foliage isn't wider than the blade opening, it will cut it.

  • +1

Anyone know what happens when you want to make warranty claims after Masters has closed down?

    • +2

Woolworths will honour all gift certificates, product warranties, returns, and lay-bys and the completion of any contracted home improvement projects such as kitchens, bathrooms and floor coverings. Any gift cards can already be used at other Woolworths group stores.

      • +1

So what you walk into a Woolworths store and get a refund?

        • ..With a 150kg fridge

        • I guess so…

    • You can always deal with the manufacturer or local distributor.

    • You're assuming they will close down. They could find a buyer…

  • +1

No stock at Oakleigh South but lots available in Keysborough (Cnr Springvale & Cheltenham Roads, Keysborough - Phone: 03 8769 3300).
Just purchased using Wish Gift Card online for Click & Collect.

    • I can't even add the item to cart. how do you do that?

      • I literally just tried adding to cart and it works. I am using Explorer. Try using other browsers?

      • Varies by store. My locals won't allow Click and Collect, but when I set my store as Keysborough, it allowed it.

    • If you've used click and collect then I strongly recommend that you go into store and pick it yourself. Masters should be able to bring up your order in the system and be able to process it.

      • My local Masters flatly refused to do that. I had the product in hand and my paid order details on the phone. I ended up having to return two days later to pick up the product.

  • $17.10 with the promo code HARDWARE

    • +1

I thought that code was supposed to end on 17th?

      • +1

        Just worked for me

        • Yeah it worked here too

  • +9

DO NOT PURCHASE THROUGH CLICK AND COLLECT!

Twice now I've bought sale items with plenty of stock, only to discover that Masters staff didn't try and pick my order until 2-3 days later. By which time all the sale items had gone. The better the deal, the less chance you have of successfully using click and collect and this looks like a pretty good deal.

If you really want it, go into the store and secure it.

    • +5

Same experience, Masters are shocking, customer service are awful, they can't even find your order when you get there after receiving a SMS for pickup. No body know anything. This is why Masters is going down the toilet, people work there are clueless.

      • +1

I actually had an incredible experience at Masters. Was after a rug and the bloke MMS messaged me pics of their range after a phone call. Was shocked at how dedicated he was

        • +1

Are you sure it wasnt a customer who felt sorry for fellow customers so answered the phone and took your photos?!

        • +1

@Brendoo: we went in and saw him!! Best experience, too bad they're obviously not all that good

    • +2

Lmao, people that work there are terrible, I find it hilarious that they pack your order 2-3 days later - whenever I go there, everyone is just walking around like a zombie…it's not like they're busy…

      • +2

Tried to buy through their eBay store during the 15% off. eBay checkout failed with some weird error. I phoned the store, and they were completely hopeless. I did not even manage to buy the item.

      • I'll second the zombie comment, South Oakleigh Masters is full of them.

They know nothing, and seem to avoid customer contact.

    • +1

      Got my SMS to collect

      • Same here

  • Sold out at Tingalpa. I missed out.

  • I don't like this site! Whenever I want to buy something I lurk here waiting for a bargain. It never happens.

So I go out and buy as best as I can.

Within 48 hours someone posts a bargain here for the thing I just paid el primo for.

There, I feel much better now <grin>

    • Return what you bought and buy this?

      • No, I was sorta kidding. I actually bought a more "robust" hedge trimmer.

But the week DSE started dumping stock I was looking for a Lumia 640XL. Despite hassling, the best I could do shopping around was 349 including a "selfie stick", which has proved useless

TWO days later, there's the 640Xl at DSE for 249!

So I bought a second for Her Indoors, which sorta made the two combined a bargain.

        Nevertheless, nice phone.

  • +1

For 19$ i just want to buy even if I cannot use it LOL

    • +1

That's what I was thinking when I posted this. I have an existing hedge trimmer already and thinking of getting this as a spare. HAHAHAAHAHA!!

  • +4

Maybe Woolworths can use this to trim their losses

  • Probably only useful for Halloween.

  • Out of stock

  • +1

I bought one in late Nov/early Dec (as a Christmas present for my wife). I have used it a number times now on variety of hedges (although mostly Murraya/Mock Orange and been very happy with the results. I still had to buy an extension cord which reduced the bargainness of the purchase over a cordless version. Generally, I've only used it for about 30 minutes at a time.

I took advantage of 10% off as well as CashRewards and had no issues with Masters having this and another item ready for collection at North Lakes.

  • +1

out of stock in VIC except for Mornington!

    • Nope, I just placed an order successfully to pick up from Pakenham store. It shows the item is in stock. I've tried almost all stores in south east suburbs in Melbourne and all other stores were out of stock/low stock. Worth trying in you don't live too far away (much closer than Mornington though…)
Also bought a Worx pressure washer set which is on clearance as well… And the HARDWARE voucher worked. Now I'm waiting for my order to be picked and ready. Fingers crossed.

  • It was on clearance month ago & Perth stores went out of stock quickly

  • Logged into my account, go to product page and it says in a yellow banner across the top

'This clearance price is only available in the CHULLORA store. Whilst stock lasts. Please check your local store for local pricing.'

and doesn't let me set my store to check local stock

    • I did the same thing and is says Hoxton Park in the yellow banner.

    • Up the top, there is a change store link where you can enter in a postcode

      • oh man this deal is really confusing. thanks for your help though. ok so I've set my store and it now says
"This clearance price is only available in the CANBERRA AIRPORT store. Whilst stock lasts. Please check your local store for local pricing." ok cool, that's the store I want to buy it from. …so how do I buy it? I still can't add it to my cart or check the stock level.

        Please check my screenshot http://i.imgur.com/A16te6q.jpg

Can you do a order over the phone or do I need to call the store, confirm they have stock and then race across town and hope they have them still when I arrive?

        • +2

Okay had a look at yours and unfortunately that means they may or may not have stock hence click and collect unavailable. I guess give them a call and ask if they have it in stock and to place a hold on it.

  • None in gosford

  • Yes definitely been around since November in stores in QLD

  • None in CBR.

    • did you call the store?

      • Ya

  • It has cord.

  • +1

Cheap! I paid $40 for it a few months ago
Works great and definitely worth $19!

Cord has never been an issue, much prefer it to batteries, which lack going the distance and die after a while.

Have been trimming my bush(es) since I got it and hasn't had issues yet…

  • Bought one today for $19 at the Albion Park,NSW store. There are around 10 left.

  • Thanks OP. Ordered one for $17.10 and ready for pickup from Canberra store.

    • When? Coz I got told no stock.

  • Thanks OP, Scored one and the HARDWARE code worked :)

  • Mark

    • ..expired. Out of Stock/Low Stock anywhere NSW:(

      • Did you call or check online? highly recommend you to call stores to check

      • Sure, down to one maybe two stores in each State with couple of unit, likely. Cannot hold stock when contacted in the past

Decentralised stock checker in contrast to dicksmiths does not point to nearest stores for low stock; client has to manually vet results. To boot, distances given were grossly out eg. 12km is 24 by road & google maps.

  • -2

Can I use this to trim my wife's bush?

  • Got one of these last time it was posted but never even opened it, now I have a $90 Ryobi rechargeable :-/

    Have to stop impulse buying!

  • +3

Hi All, if you are looking for this product try the following stores as they are showing as having stock available.

    MACKAY QLD 4740
    ROCKHAMPTON QLD 4701

    BATHURST NSW 2795
    ALBION PARK NSW 2527
    SUNBURY VIC 3429

      • Don't blame the system, blame the people who don't use it correctly

  • Sold out in Canberra

Gotta be careful with these electric hedge trimmers.
I did a full set of star wars light saber moves on the golden diosma bushes out the front (sound effects & all)
The last move Cut straight through the extension cord power cable.
    Bushes are now overgrown.
