  • Thanks OP for this deal but i am more interested in Xiaomi Redmi Note 2 Prime that has removable battery… Any deal for that.

      • Just was looking around and found the same redmi note 2 prime for AUD225 which is cheaper then $189 USD ~ $276 AUD offered at your website

Beware of GearBest. banned from OzBargain for excessive shipping time and items not showing up constantly

        • The non-prime versions are pretty cheap at the moment, they have 16GB of storage and 2Ghz cpu [instead of 32/2.2].

I just picked one up for $185 delivered from eglobal. It took 9 days from order to arrival.

        • @macrocephalic:

Almost certain the standard version has less available frequency bands though, which is why I bought the prime.

        • +1

@goose25: I'm fairly certain that the bands are exactly the same, and the only difference between the two is the frequency and storage bump for the prime.

        • @macrocephalic: No kidding, I genuinely didn't realise that. Oh well, Maybe I should check next time :D

EDIT: here is what got me confused (Copied from Geekbuying)

Please notice that this product doesn't accept orders from USA.

Please pay attention to the differences of FDD version and GSM version: This item is 16GB GSM VERSION, We have tested, the GSM version can support WCDMA and FDD LTE (please kindly not that only one sim slot support WCDMA & TD-SCDMA & FDD & TDD, the other one only support as the TDD-LTE & TD-SCDMA) !! But not write on the packing box.

If you need the FDD version, you can buy from here 16GB standard FDD version & 32GB prime FDD version, thanks !

  • These seem like decent bang-for-buck phones. Is it worth the jump up to the Note 3, or even Note 2? Currently using a Moto G (XT1068 model).

But I wouldn't mind upgrading to a new phone this year. These Redmi's are bloody everywhere whenever I start googling around.

/edit: well I've truly fallen down that rabbit hole again. Seems the Note 2 would do everything I want in a 2016 phone, for price that is about right for what a phone is worth in 2016 also. Hmmmmmmm

    • +1

The redmi Note 2 has a micro SD card slot, which the Note 3 does not have. Important point for some.

      • Yes, thanks for the reminder (I'm keeping a notepad of points next to me here!)

I'm kind of leaning towards the Note 3, in the 32gb and 3gb RAM variation. Lots of extra reading to do, see if I can better spend ~$300 (x2) or not.

Dual-sim is about the only feature I'm really keen on.

        • Just grabbed a Redmi Note 3 from BangGood last night. Had a $20 USD coupon so it worked out to $205 USD for the phone, plus Piston Earphones for hands free (no earphones in box), plus a cheap case until I know how durable the thing is! Translates to under $300AUD.

Or if you just get the phone it would be $190USD.

Just need to sign up for an account to get the coupons.

        • @anglais88: Nice, well done. Looks like I'm going to hang out until end of Feb for one of the Snapdragon powered Note 3 Pro's:

theres a redmi note 3 pro coming out soon with a nice fast snapdragon processor. the non-pro version has a mediocre Mediatek processor

        • +1

@nathan-drake: yep that's the one I'm thinking I'll hang out for. Seems like cracking value for $300ish

      • The Redmi 3 has an SD card slot up to 128gb…the note 3 does not.

    • Thanks for your message
Funeed is onsale prices and shipping within 48 hours.

    • "Presell Product Lead-time: 2016-03-10" for GeekBuying's Redmi-3

    • But if you changed it to AUD. Funeed is cheaper. I have no idea how but the exchange rate must be different in the websites.

      • The exchange rate is old before.
The new is USD $1=AUD $1.4611.
        Thanks for reminding.
        Payment only accept US dollars.

What about google play and global rom?

    • Xiaomi seem pretty good with that. I just received a Note 2 this week and downloaded and installed the global ROM from their site.

The only thing that's weird is that the region settings don't have Australia or UK, I had to choose Singapore to get the correct regional settings (number/date formats etc).

  • Has anyone had any experience with Funeed shipping and services?

I am bit nervous to buy from this site?? Shall I?

  • Any deal on the 3GB/32GB version?

  • what a massive battery this phone has!!! It will last at least 3 days!

  • +1

I purchased a Xiaomi Redmi 3 not too long ago and I really like the phone but for the fact that Xiaomi now seem to have a policy of locking the bootloader. (See http://www.xda-developers.com/xiaomi-locks-bootloader-on-rec…) I am in the process of unlocking my phone, just waiting for my second unlock code to arrive.

If you wish to flash your ROM with an international ROM , say from http://xiaomi.eu/community/, and you wish retain full functionality of you device I understand that unlocking it is necessary .

Just a heads up to any prospective buyers.

  • Not very exciting price for 2GB RAM and 16GB ROM model. You can buy it at many other places.

  • by the looks for things, play store is not installed. can you confirm this?

    • The phone I have came from GeekBuying and did have the Play Store installed and working. The default store however is the Chinese mi App Store and I haven't found a way to change this, yet. I'm hoping to install the xiaomi.eu ROM which apparently fixes this.

      • thanks. problem is, xiaomi phones now come with a locked bootloader so installing a new rom wont be easy. dont know if it applied to this phone too though

        • I believe it applies to all Xiaomi phones going forward.
