  • 6 days to go? Or 6 days left?

And why is it marked not active?

    • +1

Left, and it's not active because it needs 5 people to purchase it first.

      • Ohhh, a group buy?

        Well that's interesting…

Can you please do a deal for the Archer C9?

    • +1

      A sub $200 D9 and sold!

    • I am also wanting a C9

  • +1

Is there any custom firmware for these?

  • No deal. I think these are still $128 at office works

    • Back to 179

      • Did ebgames jack up their price too? If not you can get it even cheaper.

  • n00b question:

If I won't be using the wireless component of the router, I shouldn't really be worrying about is its ac1900, ac1200,n750 etc, correct? The main thing I need to check is if Ethernet ports are gigabit? I will be running a cable from the router to another part of the house, where I will place an ac1200 access point.

I wouldn't see much difference over a wired Ethernet connection between a high end ac1900 router and a cheaper n750 router, as long as Ethernet ports are gigabit?

  • So which are router series for nbn? What's the best value one out there currently pls?

    • Nbn going In tommorow

      • +2

I've been doing some research past few days.

        $200 shipped ebay = netgear ac1900 r7000

        $150 shipped ebay = tplink Archer c7 ac1750

        $120 shipped ebay = tplink Archer c5 ac1200

Some options I've been researching. The r7000 has the best reviews, but obviously a little dearer. I am still educating myself as also preparing myself for nbn

        • Cheers where is the r7000 $199?

        • -1

you can pick up a c9 for around $170 these day. Would get that over a netgear

        • @droodle:

Check out ebay. A lot of the tech stores are selling the r7000 for $200 shipped.

      • Which access type? FTTP/Fixed Wireless or FTTB/N?

        • theres a white box installed outside the house and it will be 100/40 ?

        • @droodle: Sounds like Fibre - edshays list is good. You don't need a VDSL compatible modem/router, just a router as you'll plug into the ethernet port on the NBN NTD that they install inside.

Also if you haven't already, I strongly recommend you get advice from your ISP on your control over where the NTD gets installed inside your house. There have been stories of them going in bad spots like in bedrooms where the flashing lights keep people up all night. Your ISP should be able to tell you what you can and can't request, and what to do if they put it somewhere you don't like.

        • @Domingo:

Thanks man - theres a recent (~2yrs) adsl port installed in a shoe cupboard in hallway. can they not utilise that - or install alongside ?

I only have a ADSL modem/router currently for ADSL

        • @droodle: Nope.

FTTB/FTTN (Basement or Building/Node) uses your existing copper wiring with VDSL into it, so you need a VDSL compatible modem.

FTTP (Premises) runs a Fibre into a new box installed inside your house.

FW (Fixed Wireless) runs to an antenna onto your roof, then is wired into a box inside your house.

Both FTTP and FW involve boxes in your house with new fibres/cables running in. They don't use ADSL ports. The box will have a LAN port on it, so you only need a router with a WAN port, not a modem/router.

        • @Domingo:

So I could use my existing w8960 which has a wan port along side the adsl port until I upgrade?

Am I the only one who has figured out that ebay group buys usually equate to long wait periods and inferior (seconds, refurbs and just plain crap) stock?

    • +3

Depends on the vendor. Wireless1 are reputable enough not to sell refurb stock and pass off as brand new as it would not only damage their reputation in a vastly competitive market but also have the accc breathing down their neck

    • +1

I emailed Wireless1 on eBay and they confirmed that the devices are new and unopened and come with the normal 3 year warranty.

  • You'd think after nearly 10 hours there would be 4 buyers by now.

    • Two to go before it is activated.

    • Not when this was $10-15 cheaper last week at officeworks.

  • Got that one 2 weeks ago with the Ebay Discount for 140.25 delivered.
Am very happy with it, faster than the old Netgear.

  • Can you still stream from a PC to your device (eg. PS4) if they router doesn't officially have DLNA certification? Or is that only if you're plugging a USB with media INTO the actual router>

    • You are correct.
