  • Should we activate the sim within a certain period of time?

If not, a good idea to grab couple as a replacement SIM.

Vodafone SIM cards don't have an expiry date.

      • +1

They do. I had some really old Vodafone SIM without activation key information, just the mobile number. I cannot activate it and Vodafone customer support insists those SIMs have either expired or been activated before. They refused to let me activate the SIMs.

However, these are free so expiry date probably isn't an issue.

        • +1

Yeah, it's 30 months expiry. People still don't believe me when I tell them…

Vodafone customer support will usually try to say it has already been activated to ensure you cannot activate/make up an excuse that your pack had an expiry date on it…

Past 30 months it is up to their discretion to whether they want to activate it. Although, I guess you could also use this hack with one that was already activated, and just bs through it.

  • I keep getting

    ERROR
    Error with ajax

    • +17

      Well use Windex instead then.

      • if only I wasn't working in IT and haven't heard this joke before

  • +2

I never understand why people would buy these in the first place. It's like buying a coles gift card with no value on it for $2. Anyone want to enlighten me?

    • Agreed.

Free SIM, free delivery: Everyday with Amaysim.

    • So you can pick your prepaid plan and recharge?

    • You sometimes become a "new" customer by porting out & porting back in with these blank sims. And you score bonus.

    • Same here. Eager to be enlightening how this free sim is a good deal - apart from getting it for free? There seems to be no discussions about recharging and selection of prepaid plans on offer. Presumably most people buy these deals just for receiving calls and for porting in/out of other telcos? I note Voda's minimum recharge amount is $20, which may be unavoidabale if you got ported in and awaiting to port out again?

  • Can't add SIM to cart, comes up with an error with Ajax.

    • Try Pine O Cleen then…

    • +1

Hope there's no error with Jif then.

  • TPG charge $20 just to have a replacement sim sent out, but at the same time TPG now own Vodafone?

    • +1

Don't own. Just resell their services

    • +1

TPG Use vodafone network. It doesn't own vodafone

    • +3

I use Telstra services, so I own Telstra

      • +5

        Wife uses my services.
        She owns me.

        • No No, it's the other way round here,

She gives you extra services, So you own her

None of the above is possible :)

  • +4

Ordered easily on Android phone, confirmation email received. Handy for porting number between Telcos.

    • and that's why i've ordered 1. porting and out is great with Telstra and Vodafone. They are very quick compared to Floptus.

  • Can you port your number to these sims and back out to Amaysim?

    • Of course, but Amaysim may charge you a fee for this.

      9.1.10:
We will not normally charge a fee for porting a number from another supplier. How- ever, if you port an MSN to us on more than one occasion, we may charge you a service fee.

        Then port a skype

      • I can't get it.
I wasn't charged to port out my number from voda to amaysim some months ago.

  • Damn! Missed out. I am looking to trial other telcos as I have had it with Optus.

Unusable on my train line (iPhone 6 / Nexus 6P)

Did anyone get an email asking for your photo ID? Is this common for retailers online to ask for photo ID before sending out the SIM?

My understanding is that I would activate the SIM online with Vodafone directly and thus the retailer shouldn't need my photo ID?

    • +2

Just got one.. Lol not happening

    • Got the same email….

      • Is/did anyone send their details in?

    • +1

      Got the same
quite weird….won't trust to give them my photo ID!!!

    • +1

For activation purposes send through a copy of your photo ID and your order number

Why? If I bought in a store I wouldn't need to supply it & certainly not give them a copy to possibly keep. There is no way I'm supplying my Photo ID for at most a $2 saving.

      '+' vote revoked.

      Emailed them my thoughts

Photo ID for free sim, nope

  • The are asking a scanned photo ID to get this deal - not gonna happen.

  • Not sending my ID for a $2 SIM (in the past it's been $1 on eBay for 2 $2 Vodafone SIMs, so I think the true price of 1 Vodafone SIM is actually $0.50). So: running the risk of identity fraud + faffing about + it's just not necessary, to save $0.50? No, just no.

  • AHAHAHA what a joke.
