HP L2445M 24" 1920x1200 LCD $299 at OfficeWOrks

200

OfficeWorks is advertising a HP L2445M 24" 1920x1200 LCD for $299 now (both in the newspaper and on their website). $21 cheaper than the cheapest 1920x1200 one on StaticICE. The only limitation I can see is that there's only DVI and VGA inputs - no HDMI.

  • Doesn't 16:10 suggest this is an old model?

  • +4

yeah but 16:10 is a lot better than 16:9…

    • -3

How is 16:10 better than 16:9? Sure the area viewable is larger….

      • +5

Isn't that the whole point? It's better because the viewable area is larger.

Some people prefer them because you get a little bit more height. That makes them somewhat nicer to use for 'vertical' content (like Word or PDF documents). It also means that the monitor can display 1600x1200 stuff properly; if you're using old software that doesn't understand widescreen resolutions then that might be useful.

The disadvantages are cost (compared to 1920x1080 monitors) and the fact that you get 60-pixel black bars when viewing 16:9 videos.

    that's not nice

  • 1920x1200 is certainly better for CAD work.

    • +1

ditto, really hate how everything is shifting to 16:9 format, there are actually people using computers for work.

  • Don't care if it's 16:9/10 . Is the picture any good on these ?

  • You can pick up a 24" 1920x1080 with HDMI from 9289.com.au for $245 or something. Its also free shipping.

  • I actually prefer the 16:10…. it's a computer, not a TV! I'm interested but I want to be able to walk into the store to get one, and this sale apears to be online only :(

    • $4.95 ain't bad for delivery. My experiences with Officeworks delivery have been exceptional - same day if you order in the morning.

      • Oh in the case - whoops! I didn't even check the delivery cost - $4.95 is pretty good indeed.

  • The specs don't say, but from the manual looks like it is tilt adjustable, but the stand does not appear to be height adjustable, or to support pivoting. Pity, those are useful functions for a monitor stand.

  • TN panel?

    • Yes, it appears to be TN (from the 140 degree viewing angles). The other technologies (PVA and IPS) tend to have much higher viewing angles.

  • I'd just like to point out, for anyone who may not be aware of it, that although this monitor doesn't have an HDMI port, it does have a DVI port and also supports HDCP, which means that if you really need HDMI, it's a relatively trivial matter to use a $20 HDMI-to-DVI adapter, with no loss of quality.

  • Damn seems like its not available anymore in NSW

  • theres 7 at officeworks at blacktown nsw

  • When I try to order it online it always tells me the item has been deleted.

  • go into the store and they are priced down.
