No it wasn't James, his kids were on his computer again!

        • @cryptos:
          lol there's always someone

  • I thought the amino acids that make up peptides broke down in the digestive system and that is why people have them injected?

doesnt matter anyway, there's no evidence of any ergongeic benefits from glutamine.

      • Lol of course there is. Recovery after surgery, gut health and immune functions etc, all shown in studies.

The question is whether its worth paying the premium for glutamine peptides (only 36.7% glutamine, and more expensive) vs glutamine free form (100% glutamine).

        • I agree but I said ergogenic benefits.
Show me 1 paper where there has been a benefit when their daily protein intake is sufficient. Same applies to bcaas

        • @Sjfilly: good point. Would increased GH, IGF1, and potentially improved anabolic balance above baseline levels be an ergogenic benefit?

        • [@chyawala](/comment/3408630/

There is simply no evidence that glutamine has any benefit, other than as you mentioned, on gut health or on pre-existing conditions or through IV. Most people who buy glutamine won't be burn victims.
Even with test boosters, many obtain bloods pre and post, some are even higher than baseline however what does that translate to real world? Not much.

You're smart enough to google and research papers, there are hundreds on glutamine

        • @Sjfilly: I agree with you further, there is no evidence glutamine works as an ergogenic agent. However it may, as well as for functions it promotes cited above, and scientific evidence may not be available yet for whatever reason (funding?), but perhaps that's not to say it has been scientifically disproven.
Those enthused in sports performance more often go on speculative effects for given functions that may boost their performance. For example GH is popular, works, and glutamine may increase GH, etc. This can be well ahead of science, try agmatine or noopept/smarts for example.
