From what I've experienced some stores don't even require the coupon (just request the combo by name), some need to see it on the phone and some require the actual mailout.

I like the fact that the cheap as chips meal is under the "value for you" section instead of the "value for four or more".

Use the KFC app. They have the coupon deals on it and $1 chips plus you can customise burger if you want.
Today I got zinger burger with extra lettuce supercharge sauce and pepper Mayo(no extra charge for salads and sauces), 3 regular chips, potato and gravy, coleslaw and can of Pepsi for 9.95.
I ordered burger combo deluxe which has burger, chips, potato and gravy and can if drink 6.95. Modify the burger, Swap the chips for coleslaw. Add 3 regular $1 chips with extra salt and there you go for 9.95.Only thing is not all kfcs are available to use KFC app so check before.

You can get the "Extreme burger combo" for $6.95 through the KFC app, its called "Burger Combo Deluxe".
Last time I used these coupons on my phone, the guy told me "next time bring the coupons". So you should be fine using it on your phone unless the guy is an especially big prick.
