  • these any good?

    • I bought a leather one abut 2 yrs ago and it's still going strong with everyday use.

      Bought a high-back mesh vesion. It's rigid and not very comfortable and the cushioned seat is thin.

      • I bought the regular back mesh version, leaned back on it once about four months in then found myself standing on my head. Top half sheared off completely.

      It's Premium quality, or is that the brand name of the chair?

    • +1

      It's a bad chair. No lower back support so you slouch. I replaced mine last week and I didn't know how bad this chat was till I got a good chair. It's fine for $50 but expect a $50 chair

      • It says adjustable lumbar support? Lumbar - lower back..

  • I've got this chair from 2 years ago I think. Its okay. Not as good quality as the Buro's etc. Ok for home use. Didnt buy it for receptionists at work though.

  • Got this nearly a year ago, still goes alright for $50

    I doubt these are premium.

    That's the weight limit?

      Unlike your premium comments

      • So you own one of these do you?

        • What's the weight limit?

          @Gimli:

          You tell us if you know…

          It's an important bit of info if you're purchasing a chair. It tells you a lot about the quality

          @jv:

          Have you heard of Google?

          @Gimli:

          That's a great idea, let's just tell everyone to start Googling any questions they have and then we can disable the comments system and the website forum as there won't be any reason to discuss anything.

        • @tren:
          It's jv specific. He always asks without even trying to find an answer.

  • i was actually kidding with the above comment(pointing out it is a buro metro clone)

    On many office chairs, the arms are attached to the seat and to the back, which gives the back much greater strength.

    On other chairs, the back is attached to the metal frame under the seat. Those are just as strong.

    But on budget chairs, often the seat is bolted to the frame, and then the back is bolted to the seat. This is a very weak method of attaching the back, the cheap plywood in the seat will fail in a year or two. A 60cm-high back attached by bolts that are typically only 10cm apart, means that huge forces are acting on the bolts and the wood of the seat. It's like a lever with a 90-degree bend in it.

    I don't know how this particular chair mounts the back, but I recommend everyone checks the mounting before purchasing.

  • I have had this chair for 2 years, the Base padding is way too thin for anyone over 85kg that is sitting for more than an hour, I can feel the wooden Base the foam is stuck to after an hour.

      On your chair, how is the back attached? Is it one of the ways I described above? And when you say "this chair", did you buy yours from Aldi?

    • I'd be interested too. I see you're online now. Can you please check.

        The chair I have is this Aldi chair, I bought it last year. The back is attached underneath, the same way Ross described. The lumber support can move up and down but there is nothing to keep it in place to stop it from falling back down. After a year the seat foam becomes so soft it is almost useless if you are using it everyday in a office.

        • Thanks. I'll still be lining up at opening time on Saturday, in the hope this year's chair has a better attachment method. It might have changed, but I don't hold great hopes.

          The soft foam I can live with. If I have to add a $10 cushion to the chair, $60 total cost is still a good price - if the back mounting has changed.

          I just threw out a cheap broken office chair, that's what prompted my initial post. I'm quite tall and over 100kg, and I've had a couple of chairs fail over the years.

  • Bought this for $25 from Aldi last year, it's good for the price

    • How is the back attached? Is it one of the ways Russ described above?

      • +1

        Seat base is bolted to the metal frame, but I think is already bolted when buying it… Seat back is attached to both metal frame and seat base, 2 bolts on each total of 4 allen bolts, comparing to what Russ explained this more like the cheaper type however still got 2 bolts on metal frame.
        Arms attached to the seat base not metal frame

        • +1

          Thanks for replying. Sounds slightly better than having all four bolts on the wood, but not by much.

          I just threw out a chair where the seat wood had half-snapped about where the two front bolts go, so the back half of the seat was flexible and the back wouldn't stay upright if you sat on the chair.

  • I bought a cheapo chair on eBay none branded . didn't know. So wondering if this would be better?

  • Is Are the legs metal?

    • I have a chair with legs that look the same, and they are metal, so probably they are for this chair too. But the caster wheels are cheap plastic on mine, probably also the same on this chair.

    • The metallic base is steel indeed, the support bar is metal and its cover is plastic. The mechanism under the seat and the back mount are metal. Castor mounts and screws are metal. The rest is plastic, including entire armrests, and fabric.

  • Any updates on how good the chair is?

  • Max Load 120kg

    Just bought and (nearly) assembled one. It's steel and plastic, the chair in the box is 14kg in total. Takes some effort to assemble.

    The seat and back look alright, the base seems cheap AF. Armrests are not adjustable, so I didn't bother to attach them. I also haven't attach castors yet. Well, it swivels, height adjustment works fine and it has two modes: rocking/tilting or locked straight position - you cannot set and lock desired angle. The adjustable lumbar support is alright.

    Mine wobbles a bit, like if the seat is not properly attached to the support (the column) and I really hope to fix that somehow.

    Well, it's $49. Buy, if it's for yourself, and be gentle to it.

    • My Aldi chair wobbles a little bit but only as much as my Bathurst Racer.

  • The lumbar support is adjustable in both height and depth. My partner is very happy with it.

  • No stock in edgecliff at 3pm or bondi Junction at 4pm.
