Got my hopes up, was going to donate my soiled mattress but no dice

Maybe ill just put a bag over it and call uber

  • All the charities will do this for free….everyday.

  • This has always been the case, and most other charities also offer this service as nocure mentioned. However, my experience has been that they may refuse to take items they don't think they can sell (either over the phone if they are overstocked, or upon collection if items aren't in good condition etc).

  • Expensive antique furniture preferred! I guess the shop has got to make enough $$$ to pay CEO's salary ($1,000,000 +).

  • I don't want to be that negative guy on a charitable page, but I've just about given up on colleciton services and donating to places like Good Sammys. We've had good, workable furniture and household goods before only to be knocked back by fussy shops, collection drivers and the like. Others have experienced this too.

We might have a doubel bed mattress with a barely noticeable hole in one small part from time, or even a sofa that still works fine just cosmetically the bottom side of the arm rest was scratched up by the cat - and they refused to take it.

It made me wonder just how much urgency their attention was to helping those in need. I can understand you wouldn't dump your old, brown smelly rags on people, but comon - working furniture that is a little worn (not too beaten up) and they won't take it due to whatever rules and regulations?

We just gave up and it ended up on the curbside. Surely someone 'in need' with no other choice could have had a mattress to sleep on than nothing at all? It seems i'm not alone with drivers/stores not picking up anything but the best.
