Thanks OP. Certainly not negging for my own preferences and taste. But all I can think looking at them is DAMN THEY'RE UGLY.

  • Your 10% off coupons will be missed Masters. Even though most of the prices were inflated.

    • +23

Their prices weren't so much inflated, they generally had better quality products
Their in this predicament as they misunderstood the market eg. Australians just want the cheapest possible price no matter what quality or how it was made.

Personally i prefer masters for the little things, better quality products, air conditioned building and most importantly they provide a bag to enable me to carry my products out and didn't make we scrong around like an idiot for a used box.

Ironically we're now all going to be paying inflated prices for cheap products.

i think they just tried to be everything to everyone and couldnt achieve it …. i thought their prices were fine and quite often cheaper but didnt have the range in any one department

      • +4

The boxes were to encourage recycling.

      • +1

Yeah exactly. In my experience, most of the items I purchased was from Bunnings after comparing to Masters which had more expensive prices. It is really dependant on what item you're looking for. Bunnings are probably still partying to the news now that they have lost their biggest competitor.

Is it too early to say '"so the fire sale begins"?

    • +6

      Yes

    • +3

It's lame, i'm sad they're closing because now we're at the wrath of Bunnings charging us whatever they want

      • -1

Bunnings had no competition for more than a decade, and they didn't charge us whatever they wanted.

        • Yeah but when they have no competition, they might feel "inclined" to put their prices up

@montorola: Well hopefully someone will buy Masters and turn it around. Just because Woolworths couldn't get it off the ground doesn't mean someone else will fail.

The spiders at my home would thank me on all their 8 knees for buying the Del Terra Steel Wicker Egg Double Seater Bench. Dang, that's ugly. Who would buy this? The Adams Family?

    • +6

      The Del Terra family.

    • I was looking at getting one of these (yes, I was the person who liked the Crocs deal too, obviously we disagree on taste matters) but the weight rating of the double (230kg) doesn't look possible as it has the same legs/structure as the single one (100kg rated). The single one was $49ish, so two of them would be better than the $99 double one with questionable strength.

$398 is the retail price for the Hugo lounge unit. You've got to be kidding me.

    • Well, it's teak. But you're right.
But what exactly does that thing do?

All these negative comments about masters when people should be saying bye to the extra competition in keeping prices low and extra choice

    • +3

Tell me about it… I have never seen 7.5% off giftcards and 10% off codes at Bunnings.

    • +1

I agree, competition is good… A friend of mine from Bunnings just nextdoor to Masters said that they usually try to match anything on sale at Masters.

      • Without offering the specials first……

Bought the 5 piece low dining setting for $189. Wife delighted. Had a look yesterday - no stock. Happen to look this afternoon and had stock (click and collect available). An hour later was marked as "low stock". Walked across and bought the last (non-display) unit. Thanks Olokun)
