Is this for existing members also?

    • No, far to man press release posts here lately.

      • I called up earlier and asked if i could change to the new cap. Afaik they had no problem processing it.

So YES it is available to existing customers.

Thou I must admit the call rates are pretty crap. I've not changed to the newplan myself and probably do not intend to in the near future.

        • Changing plan equals new contract I assume? So not really offered to new customers.

Not a bargain, does not apply too existing customer only too new customers with like a 92x call rate charge per minute absolute rip off unless you only call Three Customers

    • i cant check the calling rate cant compare~

        Calls rates have gone up.
Comparing the old and new $29 Cap

        National calls: 80c/min + 35c flag(old) 90c/min + 35c flag(new)

        Calls to M'sia: $1.50/min + 40c flag(old) $2.20/min + 40c flag(new)
        Calls to China: $1.50/min + 40c flag(old) $2.20/min + 40c flag(new)
        Calls to Indo: $1.50/min + 40c flag(old) $2.20/min + 40c flag(new)
        Calls Thailand: $1.50/min + 40c flag(old) $2.20/min + 40c flag(new)
        Calls to Japan: $1.50/min + 40c flag(old) $2.20/min + 40c flag(new)

        Calls to S'pore: 80c/min + 40c flag(old) $2.20/min + 40c flag(new)
(Singapore seems to have the largest increment)

        Calls to India: $2.20/min + 40c flag(old) $2.40/min + 40c flag(new)
        Calls to S.Korea: $2.20/min + 40c flag(old) $2.40/min + 40c flag(new)

No changes in: Video calls, SMS local and international, MMS local and international.

Benefits of new caps: Unlimited 3-3 calls, can use full $150 on international calls (previously $100)

Overall: Do not change your plan, its works out more expensive unless you have lots of friends on 3.

  • I think they have no incentive to offer a better deal on their iphone plans because right now they are probably the cheapest provider for the iphone.

    • I think the Virgin deals are quite competitive, and they actually include free virgin to virgin on the iPhone deals. Considering a vast majority of my friends are with Virgin, I'm looking at the $59 iPhone plan which may be $100 less credit to others, but a bucket load of free credit to the ones I will actually contact.

PS. Can't make a comment on the call charges to non-Virgin, as I never actually reach my cap, thus don't bother how much I'm getting charged for calls that's don't cost me any more.

      EDIT: this deal - http://www.virginmobile.com.au/Shop/ProductSummary/2661/Appl…

  • the international call rates are almost 2-3x more expensive on the new caps too

    • I dont think nowadays people use land phone or mobiles to make international calls. If you are using calling cards or other voip providers it costs only 4 to 5 Cents per minute or even less to make international calls. For instance if you are on a $29 Cap you get $150 worth of credit so basically you are paying around 30 cents a minute not $ 1 a minute. So i dont think higher cost on international or local calls an issue here. If you have lots of friends on three you can now get to make unlimited calls.

      • not true.
Comparing the old and new $29 cap, both give you $150 worth of credit.
However, the prices for the new cap are higher, therefore making them more expensive.

I get your argument about actual price being less, its about 1/5
(ie. $29/$150). But it still is more expensive either way.

Singapore is the best case to use, it's 80cents (old) and $2.20 (new)
Therefore, its true value has actually increased from 16cents to 44cents.

(Btw, I do use mobiles to make international calls. Reason: calling international is the same price as a local call anyway. Both being 40c/30sec)

    • smartvoip ftw !

      1.9c/min to india :)

  • Vodafone unlimited vodafone to vodafone inc iphone on all caps.

  • If I was too change too this plan my current bill would go from $29 up to $35 based on my last months spend on the higher rates

This isn't a bargain and with anything Mobile contract Buyer Beware and shop around plain and simple
