****UPDATE****
I posted this in the wee hours of Saturday morning AEST, and the post was kind of half done, apart from the usual stuff the stand outs are-

  1. This is a game of skill and chance plays no part in determining the winner. For entry to be valid entrants must complete all steps in the entry process, entries will be individually judged for ther answer provided to the question …..(this appears to refer to the prize and not the Free Laminex kitchen apron)

  2. Please allow 28 days for delivery. One Apron per household.

  3. Entrants should direct any request to access, update or correct information to the Promoter (Laminex Group Pty ltd ABN: 98 004 093 092, of 90-94 Tram Rd, Doncaster VIC 3108). Entry is conditional in providing this information. The promoter for an indefinite time, unless otherwise advised…. (not exactly a ball and chain, you have the right to tell them not to). Attention! Read this part of the terms and conditions and then decide if the $2 apron is worth it.

I'm not going to be spammed by laminex and the 3rd parties laminex decide to sell my details to! …for an indefinite period of time!

    • I didn't read that at first so I clicked next but thought I should read it just in case and what do you know it's rubbish like that again.

Only thing is, I went all the way to "tell us in 25 words…" stage but didn't go any further than that part. Is it already too late after you've entered your details and clicked "next" on the first page? or one has to complete the whole thing before your info is sent?

It would probably submit your application all at once after collating the various steps so I wouldn't be too worried.

    • Thanks. It's funny people worry about privacy but will trade it away for a $2 apron!

That's normal with these freebies. That's why I don't vote for them. Not sure if it makes it worth a negative vote, since many people don't care about selling their personal information for a $2 freebie.

I'm just saying if you were consistent with these kind of negative votes you could go back and neg even some of the most popular freebies posted here, although I wouldn't encourage that.

    • Did you just read the bottom part, the company reckons its worth $6 bucks. Plus the product doesn't seem all too bad if your like me looking to rennovate most things (including the kitchen) and products like these give you food for thought (pardon the pun).

I saw the company's valuation of the apron but I thought my own was closer to the mark. lol

        • Based on what, you need to be clear, have you already got one?

          • @nats: In my mind $6 would be RRP. A store would probably have it for $4.50, and the wholesale cost is probaby $0.50 each - which should equal about $2 on balance.

            • @inherentchoice: Please answer the question if you have one in your hot little hand, otherwise everyone will speculate what they think it is worth imo

              • @nats: It's worth what they're selling it for $0, after the personal cost of being spammed and having to tell the various recipients of your details to…go jump!

  • Wait till you fill it in, and then never be sent the Apron. Just some square 2x2cm laminex pieces. This is just a ploy to spam you to death.

This was posted a while ago on http://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/17574 but I guess was removed.
I did end up receiving the free apron after a couple of months with 1 spam email which had links to unsubscribe from their mailing list.

I received my apron and no spam so far…

well i applied and got the free apron, so it is legit. But dont know if they have any left.

It was a proper waiter style apron as well.

  • If you want to enter the competition to win the $20 000 kitchen makeover, keep in mind it's a 25 words or less (WOL) answer competition.

All that means is that you have a better chance of winning because less people will enter as WOL requires more effort than just submitting your contact details type competitions.

  • Never got my apron either. :( Then again I don't think I got spam either, so..

I received my free apron although it did take a while. No spam so far

A lot of competitions/freebies, where you give personal details, includes a condition that they be allowed to send you promotional emails from time to time. Any reputable company would also include an unsubscribe link with their promotional emails - I know this was referenced above for this particular promotion.

I don't have anything to say about the freebie itself, but I don't understand why people neg this deal when you can unsubscribe from their material. That sounds more than fair enough to me. For those who are worried about privacy, they should be consistent in not entering any such competitions (and neg-ing all such deals on ozbargain) - pretty much all such promotions require some form of personal detail.

    • ditto at trigger happy neg's

I subscribed last promotion, received my apron reasonably quickly and only got a couple more emails from laminex promoting new products/ideas. The apron I got was black cotton with LAMINEX in large white writing across the front - good for garden, laundry, garage etc (I prefer something prettier for the kitchen). Certainly worth more than $6 to me.

    • same with me. and have now unsubscribed with no problem :)
