I came to ask the same question.

          @CVonC:

I know right? I'm close to reporting stewballs for being dry.

      Sub-soniq?

  • +1

Surely this will eat into Soniq sales. I'd never buy a TV worse than a Soniq though…

    • +1

It will get Soniqers in a twist.

    • worse than a Soniq

      That's a joke, right?

  • +3

Thank you OP, because of your lead, I went to check what else is available and I bought a $99 ($109 with freight) Bexa 24" Full HD TV.

My mum's old TV doesn't even have a HDMI port. This will be great as an interim…

  • these where here about 12months ago.better resolution this time and cheaper
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/164504

    • that's the same tv.. so same resolution?

  • My 7 year old bexa 32 inch TV just died good timing

    • Hmm 7 years lifespan is not really that good.
      Thanks for the info

Good luck if the item is low in stock or you need to deal with the online team via email afterwards.
Worst shopping experience ever when buying white goods online with this mob recently.
Find their consumer phone number and ring them if you need. Online support is useless in so many ways.

  • I'm looking for a monitor, but I think I bexa stay away from this.

    • +1

You should stay away from TV's if you're looking for a monitor. They might seem the same, but the picture on a TV will probably be terrible comparatively.

      • Thanks, while I have been tempted to use a TV, I might just stick to a monitor then

      • Some reviews of uhd tvs say otherwise

  • Does it support MPEG4 decoding for the new HD stations like 9HD?

Manual available here if anyone wants it:
    ftp://ftp.quatius.com.au/Manuals/BXE5013AU.pdf

  • Thanks! Purchased one. The 10% off in my email helped decide. Plus ~$70 in free gift cards I had and I rarely buy things from JB HiFi :>

Ended up being $337 of my own money including delivery.

A couple months warranty left in our Soniq 42" Refurb!

    • Can you tell me how you managed to get it for $337 (what was the breakup) as I plan to purchase one for myself. thanks

      • Sounds like
        $399 (standard price)
        - $40 (10% from an email voucher. Wish I had one!)
        - $70 in gift cards which he already had
        + $36 shipping
=$335 Out of pocket. Probably some rounding and approximation in some of the numbers, making this slightly out.

So unless you have a 10% off voucher, or some JB Hifi Gift Cards lying around, I don't think there's any way to do this.

        • thanks Dalbo :) yeah wish I had the voucher too :( Can it be forwarded or used multiple times ? I guess not.

        • @rebel77: It appears it was the "we haven't heard from you in a while" EDM with a single use barcode/coupon and I didn't find a way to share it without my unique customer id being integrated.

I bought a soniq a few months ago based on reviews that said that the picture quality was decent, and everything else was not great. That was half true, the picture quality is rubbish.

I'm tempted to neg, but I won't. Don't except wonders from this TV

    • +1

yea , pretty much if you pay peanuts, you get monkeys

      • +10

it only costs peanuts to buy monkeys?? hook me up!

        • +1

Pretty sure you're not allowed to keep monkeys, unless you're Aladdin.

    • +3

not sure why first hand experience is being negged…

  • 'Not sure on the quality', I'm not a betting man but… shame it's not a plasma or something, it could atleast be used as a heater if it didn't look too good. They have their purpose though, think grandparents/kids…. good price.

  • +2

Need a new bathroom TV… this might just do it for the price and size.

    • +1

      Bathroom TV…surely that's not a real thing???

      • +2

I thoroughly enjoy watching David Attenborough on the shitter. His soothing voice helps the flow.

        • +2

          Flow ?

        • @Tasmaniac: The flow ;)

In all seriousness though. I do have a TV mounted above the spa.

  • Check that it can handle the newer codecs digital tv stations broadcast

    • People broadcast TV still?

  • These kind of cheapies usually don't have full screen pixels displayed, the frames mask maybe 100+ of them so sometimes you can't see full line of subtitles at the bottom. Cheap for a reason.

  • I think I bought because the pdf manual of this TV states that:

"It will bring you years of high quality viewing enjoyment. The television is easy to operate and provides exceptionally high quality image."

I got suckered in lol. Plus if it doesn't provide what it claims then I have a case to request return haha.

I wonder if I will be able to accept it's picture quality considering I have a 60" Samsung F8500 plasma in my movie room. I can't stand my parents 40" Akai, looks washed out and just crap, I can't look at it for more than 7 seconds, lets see how the Bexa fares.

  • The TVs we have at work are soniqs. I guess that explains why I'm on ozbargain.

  • I asked about a warranty and was told it comes with a 1 year warranty if anyone was wondering (no other info about the warranty, they left me a message on voicemail)

  • If all else fails, this is at least purchased from JB HIFI. My reasoning.

  • Does anyone know if this is wall mountable? I figure most TVs are these days, right? Just looking for something to put on the wall to show demos etc, and probably do video calls. Have ordered anyway since it's so cheap, but would be good to know if we need to get the wall mount, or a cupboard. Thanks

  • The box says optional 3 year warranty with online registration.

  • Got this TV from this deal, it has complete crap image quality much worse than a 27" samsung I bought long time ago, and impossibly worse than my 60" samsung plasma. I highly recommend paying double or more to get a samsung or sony… Life is too short to watch a tv this bad.

  • Link doesn't work. Not sure if I should be sad or glad I missed this one, going by the last comment.

    • Well if your in ACT you can have mine for 300.
