Remote Control Mini Helicopter @ Reject Shop $10.00, 4 types/colours to choose from

410

Mini Helicopter for 10 bucks , you can also get a 60 battery pack for $4 which goes well as the remote takes 6x AA batteries.

I have been looking at this sort of thing for a while and havent seen them this cheap

Bought 2 i recommend getting the blue yellow and white one and not the army coloured one , i bought both obviously you can tell which i prefer.

They charge via the infra red remote. whilst this is not a quality toy its a bloody fun product i have crashed them everywhere this afternoon learning to fly and they both still work fine.

I even took it outside (dont take it outside) and it went straight up about 20 metres to the top of a tree and using a javelin/mop it came down and wasnt damaged and flew straight away(back inside)

Again these are inside only ;)

About 40 left at Macquarie centre nsw

Ps ironic i know my post about why not posting bargains anymore :), but hey i had to share

  • Nice I'm going to get one

    At $10 why not

    • Because it gives you diarrhea? I'm sure it doesn't…but that's one possible reason not to…

      • Good point , i can assure you it hasnt given me diarrhea, yet ! :)

        • I can confirm that this gave me diarrhea… Bargain? You be the judge.

          • @Timski: when i said inside, i did mean the house lol

  • Homg, I want one. Think I'll have to check out my local reject shop :-)

  • I paid $40 a while ago for a similar one, but it had a rechargable battery.

What size batteries do they take?

    • They take 6x AA in the remote controller then this has a cable that charges the helicopter, thanks will update post

  • Hey Mikinoz ,
My friend once bought a cheap one and it just kept going in circles. Can you please confirm that this one is fairly "controllable" ? Its a very good price though , Thanks.

    • I bought one a while back and it did the same thing. It's only a 2 channel helicopter i guess.

They aren't really built to last. Mine only lasted 1 month before it broke (too many crashes :P)

      • Have to agree dont think i will get more than a month out of 2 , but its so much fun , chasing things/people around :)

        • I've been through about 3 of these things in the past ….sometimes they last a week or two, other times a hard crash will kill them in the first hour of use. The one I got from COTD came broken out of the box!

$10 is a great price, particularly from a retail shop.

          • @ash2000: I bought one when it was $15 at the Reject Shop. First one was broken and wouldn't charge. Second would fly up and down, turn a bit, but it was really hard to set up (trim) and virtually impossible to fly in one chosen direction.

I strongly recommend buyers ignore the cheap price and visit a dedicated model shop, where much better 3 and 4 channel helicopters can be purchased for around $30 to $50. Better constructed, last longer, and you can actually fly them rather than have one spin in a random direction.

Hey joysnlove, both of these did at first aswell, then i read the manual and it has a left and right side trim button that you press to stop it spinning, these controllers have the button located under the left/right joystick.

If the copter spins clockwise you press/tap the button left side and opposite for anti clockwise, it will start going straight after that.

Its taken me hours and i am starting to master them , lots of fun though easily worth the ten bucks, i am getting more :)

      Hope that helps :)

    • he probably didnt noe that ur meant to calibrate them to spin counter clockwise to the rotor

  • is this nationwide?

  • U make it sound so fun I want one to stir my cat with. will have to wait till Monday to see if it's advaliable in wa cause no trading tomz:(

    • Haha, I wouldn't unless you want to your cat to develop a rc helicopter phobia. My cat wouldn't go within a meter of it. Absolutely freaks her out.

    • There's a reject shop in the city that's open on sundays =]

  • I was just thinking that This would be a ball with some pets!

    • So long as your pet isn't a budgie….I would suggest such pets would come off second best to the helicopters rotors!

      • My rainbow lorikeet has destroyed one already , it watched it flying for a while waited for it to land and then pounced wish i video'ed it lol

  • Can these things carry any payload? Bwahahahaha. No, no ignore that evil laugh of mine. I'm just curious.

  • Great bargain mate, your posts are very much appreciated Mik :)

  • I bought one today and it works well. Great buy at $14 with the 60 pack of batteries. Mine doesn't work at all outside i.e. the rotors do not spin and I'm yet to work out why. edit: the manual lists direct lighting as a source of interference.

My kitten loves chasing it around the house, but she's not really scared of anything :)

  • Your mop comment made me lol. Just bought 2 from Chadstone. Only 1 left there. Good (cheap) fun, been crashing it non stop.

Mikinoz, when charging the helicopter, does the red light light up? Mine doesn't and only the green light is lighted. Not sure if it's even charging at all.

    • Hi Ohsnap, Thank you i found that aswell and thought it a faulty controller, i replaced batteries and it was charging again, hope that helps :) make sure to have the copter turned off to charge

      • Oh, so the red light lighted after you replaced the batteries? I probably should use new batteries and try again then. My copter could only fly 1 min max before dying even after I've charged it for an hour. That was why I assumed I probably wasn't even charging it.

  • Just bought 3 for me and my mates at the Kawana store - Qld. About another 20 on the shelf!

Do these things work, powered by rechargable (eg, NiMH) cells?

    If not:

Call me "Triple-Bottom-Line Harry" but, if people are moved to buy sets of 60 (!) AA batteries for each $10 toy they buy, that's a lot of chemicals getting mixed into out Garbarge…

    My 2.2 cents…

Boo who. I assume you live in a tree and have no effect on the environment?

  • Bought one today at chadstone. I think something's wrong with mine. it goes forwards instead of up lol

  • Bought one today, taken quite a beating so far :) great deal!

Is the tail rotor meant to be able to spin? Mines dead still, not to mention that i can just pull it off.

lol and word of warning, dont try it outside until you're competent. Almost lost it! Wind blew it right up, had to get it off the roof.
