    Sweet (basil) deal!

  • are they short dated

    • -1

      possibly…

      • +5

Date on pack is August 2017

        • +1

What happens in August 2017? :O

        • @Flying Ace: I suspect this is only for the Yates guarantee of quality that they have on every pack.

        • +6

@niphal: It depends on the seed. With lettuce you should pay very close attention to the expiry date, as they are quite short lived. Others, like tomatoes or parsley, can last for ages.

        • @pontiph02: True story, thanks Pontiph02

        • @niphal:
Is it a use by date or a ' buy more date'. There is a good possibility that the seed viability will be weeker and one may get strike rate of one in five seeds growing at the later date.
I have know knowledge if Yates seeds a nill return crop(? ie next generation of seeds not the same as the parent seed) controlled hybrids.
But that's what nature has been doing for all of time but without the control.
It is so easy to loose a type of seed you may like. It taken me many years to find a seed for yellow cherry tomatoes that were growing wild where I lived as a child. The 'native' seed was not strong and with development the root crops were built over. Have something similar now thanks to high end restaurant demands. And yes people like you, diggers and seed banks are a help for the future.
Good price even if the plants bolt, the bees will love the yellow flowers.

Good deal but only the five seeds and only veg.

Any flower seed deals coming OP?

  • Good deal but you will have to wait till spring (except lettuce) to sow these in temperate climate.

Thanks Blerk - happy to contact you privately if that would help? :)

      they're $1 seeds, not a $800 iphone.
If you'd much prefer to buy elsewhere, then why the rant above?
Sounds like even if they had ABN, etc listed then you weren't going to buy anyway.

Did you read the About Us? Five Dock City Farm is their project too, not 'elsewhere'.

  • Op, your website looks really good.

    • What kind of person would neg that comment…

      • Jv? ;)

        • Thanks NewOzBargainerMelb - appreciate the compliment.

  • Planning to have a larger variety? Great prices!

  • Got some, my daughter is looking forward to starting her veggie garden :)

  • Anyone actually got their seeds yet?

    • +2

Hey Apey75, so far only one person has reported not receiving the seeds. If you've ordered and haven't received them - do let me know :)

      • Thanks for the quick response. I got a shipping notification on 14th Feb, but nothing has arrived yet, which probably suggests a delivery issue. I'll give it until mid this week and let you know how it goes.

        • +1

Don't wait, just reply to your notification and I'll check it out.

        • +2

@niphal: OK so I must thank you again for the prompt response and offer to help. But this delivery issue has been solved.

I just checked with my other half and she has kindly accepted delivery of my seeds without even telling me. She now owns not only my money and my a**e, but also my seeds!

And without a doubt I'll be the one prepping the soil, defending the little buggers from caterpillars and nurturing them to their eventual fruition! She'll just eat them.

This deserves an impulse OzB purchase, shipped to my workplace this time! :P

        • @apey75: lol she sounds like a smart woman ;) clearly you made the right decision. I'm gonna help you here a little then… Just reply to your order notification anyway, that way I'll know who you are. Let me work something out…

    • +2

Yep, I got mine at least a week ago
