    Everytime Geronimo has a sale on, there's always gonna be someone who is gonna neg it coz they didn't get their free sample lol. Giving free samples away probably did more harm than good.

    Just buy it. If you like the beef jerky you get in Coles, you'll love this stuff.

      Fair enough for people to be unhappy if the company said they would get a sample but didn't deliver once they signed up. Separate matter to other posted deals though.

    I understand that it's probably a premium product but I found $30 ($24 + $6 postage) for a 240g variety pack to be really expensive, and that's already with the 25% off.

    Ordered some last time when there was the 30% off, got the variety pack. I'd like to share my opinion of some of the jerky to help some of you with your purchasing choice. Please note, I didn't get any free samples and I'm not a rep.

    Original: very ordinary, bit salty, without the spiciness this is kinda…bland and (no offense big Chief it's just my opinion) crap. If you want something to go with the beer, this is recommended, but I wouldn't have it by itself. 4/10

    Spicy Sharman: Kinda sour, gives you that tingle. 5/10

    Buckshot: again just my opinion but this is the absolute best in the range, spicy from the peppery taste (good for anyone who can't handle their spice) absolutely delicious and you wouldn't ever have tasted this before. Think steak with pepper sauce in Jerky form. If you can't handle your spice but still want that taste, this is the one to go. 9/10

    Sidewinder: I don't know what you did Big Chief but it's not working. Bland and dry in the bad way. 5/10

    Blazing Saddle: Nice and spicy, this one will have you reaching for the water every now and then. If you can't handle your spice, stay away. 7/10

    Flaming Arrow: HOLY CRAP. This one is a killer and DAMN GOOD. I drool just from smelling this. If you are a masochist, try this one! Very spicy is an understatement! Multiple times I've had to wash my mouth (please note that milk helps) and I've always reached back for more! If you can handle your spice…you'll still be surprised. The trick to eating this one is to have small bits at a time, shoved a whole piece into my mouth once..ouch. I loved it but it's kind of a love/hate relationship, sometimes it just gets too painful (Oh and please note, it's painful the way in….it's also painful the way out.) 8/10

      I bought a sample pack during the last sale and I agree with most of this, my favourite is Sidewinder or Spicy Shaman, but then I really don't like to be in pain when I eat, like some people seem to enjoy, I can't even finished the Flaming Arrow sample I have, I'm going to try it on my poker buddies :)

      EDIT: I'll order some more when they fix that picture of the poster girl, still all squashed, poor girl.

      EDIT: Please note I have thumbed up this one only because it is considered a 'bargain' compared to it's normal price however the jerky is relatively expensive (even with the discount), you can find cheaper ones available elsewhere (not sure about taste as of yet though).

        I agree on pricing-we do use only the best Australian beef and everything is hand made not processed with a all natural product-

        We have just finished a festival and every single person that tried it bought some. It was amazing how Jerky eaters tasted our jerky and went bananas saying yes it is "the best beef jerky they have ever tasted" People raved about it and told us how they buy from there local shop and how this is much better. Our product is made the old fasion way the way it is suppose to be made. It is dry, it is a little salty but once you start to chew it all the amazing flavours come out to play. It isnt a wet or moist product that contains MSG, flavour enhancers or preservatives.

        Like everything there will always be a cheaper inferiour product out there and always a superiour one (Geronimo jerky) :-)

        You can buy them from your local supermarket or ebay. If you have a killer eye for good jerky material with hands made for cooking and some patience I would recommend this. It's a fun experience…and you make lots of delicious jerky.

    I never got my sample. So I went ahead and bought a Variety Pack with all 6 flavours and a kilo of original.

    Big mistake.

    Make sure you get your free sample or buy some samples before you go ahead and make any large orders. It’s very dry and overly salty jerky. I’ve had much better for far cheaper.

    I notice many of the positive review are from those who have never tried jerky before.

    I’m sure there are some people out there who may love this jerky but none of my family members or friends liked it.

    It’s ok to munch on when you are hungry and you get use to it to an extent. Well you have to when you have to finish over a kilo of the stuff.

    Sure, some like it; some don't (I got the free sample, thought it was ok but haven't bought any more - I just like free stuff). Whether you like its taste or not is no reason to -ve it: nor is whether you didn't get a sample once some time in the past. Look at THIS deal - everything in the world is liked by some & not others. Just give this guy a go and let him post a bargain!!!

    I keep seeing these 'bargains' listed, though I'm yet to be convinced. I never received my sample despite inquiring several times and being reassured it was on its way. A big 'meh' from me.

    I took the plunge and purchased a variety Pack as I grew tiresome of waiting for my free sample.

    I agree with some of the neg comments above Dry, salty and overpriced. The Spicer ones are better since you can't taste much from a numb tongue.

    I highly recommend you buying a sample pack before digging into your pockets for 1kg as the taste won’t be for everyone. To be honest I was disappointed with the taste after reading so many people rave on about the taste.

    Regardless of whether you like this stuff or not, I don’t consider it a bargain with only 25% off an over inflated price. It’s like going to Harvey Norman and getting 30% off something which then brings it in line with other sellers.

    If this was 30% off with free post it could be considered a good deal but not quite a bargain. The term bargain gets used too loosely IMO.

    It’s nice that they are giving away a free kilo to a random buyer but it would be a shame if it gets lost in the post like all those samples they promise to get to you rain hail or shine.

    My personal view on jerky is that, the original must taste good. It is used as the base for all the other flavours. You can make most crap taste ok if you add enough spices and chillies to mask the real flavour.

      More frustrating then anything-

      I think the fact that the deal said 100 free samples which has been supplied 10 times over is impressive.

      It is just biting my back that some people just want want want…take take take…lol

      I have put on the deal that if we missed people we will honour it but we have yet to get any emails.

      Some people just like complaining judging on their previous posts and comments?

    I have tried all varieties that they over. Eventhough I'm into hot stuffs, I still love their jerky. Flaming arrow and sidewinder are really hot and they're my favorite.

    My suggestion is with the shipping cost charged, It'll be great if the order can arrive quicker.

    Haven't received my sample. I won't email and jump the queue - I believe a vendor should be genuine about their offer. I don't like the business practice of not doing the right thing and relying on the usual rule that only a minority will complain and hence a cost saving overall.

      There is no Queue Tim-We have sent over 2000 samples of the promised 100 so as far as cost savings goes it didnt save me much money but I thought I may as well send an extra 1900 samples because there was so much interest.

      I dont mind if you send an email or anyone for that matter to [email protected]

      This isnt me getting angry but out of all the people that have complained Kate has only received 1 email request for samples?

    I think voting a genuine deal neg just because you didn't get your free sample is pathetic. You should leave comments relating to that in the forum or email them to GJ and let the bargain speak for itself.

    I never got my sample either (after signing up for "Friends", asking multiple times here and sendng an email) but I ordered a sample pack anyway. I found my fave and I'm now about half way through a 500gm bag of Spicy Shaman.

    Am I a little pissed I never got my freebie? Sure, but I'm not holding a grudge and voting neg every time GJ post a bargain. I'm just happy to have discovered another great tasting Aussie-made jerky. So if you like the stuff, stop being a tight arse and just order some with the 25% off. If you don't like it, don't order it again. Simple!

      I believe this is not a good deal given the nature of the company and their business ethics, hence the negative. Just sharing my experience. Surely who offers deals makes a difference? (think Coles vs somesmallmerchant.com)

      I think part of the deal with internet marketing is that while it can be virally successful, you also have to put up with customers that you have upset in the past who can voice their opinion.

      But you are right, this is pathetic, anyone who's gonna research before ordering would have known about their prior history, and anyone who can't be bothered probably won't want to know. Having said that though, this is deals website, where we can voice what we think of the deal? Credibility of the merchant does not matter in your opinion but may in someone else's.

        What business ethics. They gave out 100 free samples people went crazy most knowing they were already over the 100 free samples but went ahead. Then all of a sudden cry they didn't get one pretty pathetic if you ask me. They end up giving out 2000 free samples which is great work by them cause you's don't deserve them and u's still whinge, it even says what to do to receive a free sample and you ignore it and still whinge.

        Pretty sad how u's are trying to rip this small business off

        As far a credibility and prior history it is all good-in the thousands of messages to ozbargainers I have been kind and fair. As mentioned a million times we have given well and truely over 100 samples away in fact over 2000.

        We STILL have not received any more request for a sample which to me indicates that most people are happy and others just like voicing their ummmmm opinion…..

        The door is still open for samples Tim, you just have to walk in.

    Have not received my free sample since so many requests, I’ve decided to get myself a variety pack AND another kg of different mixed flavors, mostly in the spicy range. Holly crap, big mistake! The darn thing is so dry and way too tough to enjoy. Do yourself a favor, if you haven’t tried it and reallyyy want to try one, just order the variety pack, don’t try to save on the combined shipping fee!! Better yet, go down to your local super market and get the New Zealand made Jack links. Make sure you get the “Steak Bar”, you won’t be sorry.

    -ve for the false advertisement "The Best Beef Jerky You Have Ever Tasted". This is a personal preference and it's definitely not for me.

    and to all the sad whingers get over it he has do e a great job giving out way more hen he originaly planned it was 100 free samples and he gave out 2000 if u missed out u were too slow unlucky. This is a small aussie buisness that u's are trying to rip off just because u signed up to a deal late. Ignore them don't give them anything they don't deserve it

    Made an order on the last special, ordered got lost somehow, sent the Big Chief an email within 5 hours he got back to me, told me what happened, sent the order out the next day and included a few extra samples.

    The flaming arrow is a must have for any chilli lovers, some of the best jerky I have ever tasted

    Never ordered the jerky before.

    I am tempted too but I don't like super spicy food.
    Reading that most find the original too salty doesn't help me order.
    Looking at the nutritional content of each product doesn't seem to do much as it appears to be very generic.

    Are the flavors exactly the same?
    If not, then why is the nutritional content the same for each flavor?

      Blazin,Flamin and Sidewinder are hot hotter and hottest.
      The Original all though some people say it is too salty most people love it-

      People also who have tasted proper Beef Jerky LOVE it.
      Some people have tasted inferiour soft jerky and expect ours to be like this but it is not the cause. WHY? We are all natural others are not and are loaded with flavourings and chemical preservatives. If the product hast got preservative and is moist it is the perfect breading ground for some pretty nasty stuff.
