  • How good is this compare to Sandisk or Samsung?

    • +1

I'd say Lexar is the more popular brand amongst professional photogs with Sandisk second. Samsung has been a more consumer brand.

Quality wise I'd take it over the Sandisk extreme card of the same speed but that's a personal thing.

      • Sandisk is more popular.

UHS-I series SD cards are no longer the fastest. UHS-II cards are (assuming you get the fastest UHS-II series card), but only a small number of cameras support UHS-II native (others can still use them, but in UHS-I). Lexar is owned by Micron (one of the top 3 memory manufacturers). Micron's SSD brand is Crucial. The Sandisk equivalent (which is also rated 95MB/s read) is faster in write speed.

The write speed is generally important for photographers. SD card manufacturers can come up with a fast read but slow write card. For example, even for UHS-II cards, Lexar has 2 series. While UHS-II cards have faster read, only one of the two series has the write speed that's faster than the fastest UHS-I card.

  • Blurg. Bought 2 64gb cards last month for about the same price (each). this looks like a bargain!

  • Not good for 4k video.
