    ASUS F553MA-BING-SX985B (REFURBISHED)*FREE SHIPPING

    ASUS F553MA-BING-SX985B 15.6" NOTEBOOK - 15.6" (1366 X 768) - INTEL PENTIUM N3540 2.16GHZ - 4GB DDR3 RAM - 500GB HDD - WIRELESS N - WINDOWS 8.1 - BLACK

This laptop is realistically worth $250 in brand new condition at best.

Usually something with an Intel Pentium CPU would not be worth $250 in brand new condition, but rather would be about ~$380 online, and around ~$400+ instore. I think what you were after at $250 brand new condition would be an Intel Atom laptop from Pendo at best.

I'd personally get the HP Stream 11 for only an extra $19 more.

Looks like the Stream 11 has 2GB of non-upgradeable ram though :-(

    From notebookcheck:

    "Performance

Thanks to 4 CPU cores and a clock speed of up to 2.66 GHz, the Pentium N3540 is significantly faster than previous Intel Atoms. Overall, the performance is similar to the AMD Kabini APU A6-5200. For everyday tasks such as Internet or Office the N3540 is adequate, but not for very complex software or modern games."

A laptop for 'net, word processing, email, etc…for the price of a cheap phone?

    FYI

  • Will this take an SSD? Is the memory upgradable? Can't seem to find much information on this model unless I'm getting the name wrong.

    • yes it will take an ssd, most likely a 2.5 inch one and ram is upgradable

    15.6 inch 1366x768

  • I can see why. I bought the same thing only used occasionally, sent for repair for not charging. a week after that, same problem again! Now that they might be mb issues.

    • That is why where the "Refurbished" comes from.
