        • +1

@jv: try me ;) not going to hate on your lifestyle choices (you have made some very good points in other threads in the past) but at least be honest with what you are.

        • @tdw:

but at least be honest with what you are.

          someone with an opinion…

someone who doesn't post to criticise other people… unlike some others around here…

I've got about 15 pairs most comfortable and light shoes on the market jv you wouldn't know style if it hit you in the face

      • +1

Looks alone do not a good shoe make. Besides, Nike sb shoes look rather good compared to the joke product that supra puts out

Unless you're one of those "Nike is ruining skateboarding" snobs…

        • +5

@jv: lol when amnesia hits hard…

@jv: not until someone posts a group buy deal for it..

        • @jv: as long as you're still on ozbargain, I'm sure it'll work out ;)

        • +1

What if I told you that Nike ruined snowboarding?
(and that I have multple nike snowboarding items?)

        • @grunge: can you please elaborate?

a lot of people felt that way as well when Nike ventured into ice hockey by buying Bauer. i know it's sometimes cool to hate on a company which doesn't have roots in a certain industry but they did put a lot of r&d and improved the Bauer product line. i've had pre-nike Vapor skates but the Vapor 40's from 2007 is still my favourite, likewise the Vapor 40 composite stick.

their protective gear was also damn good. had a coach that would still wear the same nike gloves and got them re-palmed instead of buying new ones (probably would've been cheaper to get new ones :)

        • @tdw:
          Okay can do:

Snowboarding is a very niche market, with not much return on investment, unless you're in for the love of it or the long term. This results in alot many…. smaller "boutique" brands in the industry.
And by Nike entering, it was a game changer.
They do put alot R&D into their products, and built their snowboarding line from scratch. And the gist of it is, IT IS COMFY, which is the reason why people have multiple boots, I myself had up to 3 pairs of nike snowboarding boots, I loved it.

They also put up alot money to sponsor big names and reps etc etc, poaching from other sponsors, as well as huge $$$$ into marketing.
As you can tell, from having a big name, they took a large chunk of market share, sending quite a number of smaller company bust. (like I said, niche market.)

And then after the 5ish years they've been in the market, they just pulled the plug.
Why? Not enough return on investment.
Leaving their sponsors and reps high and dry, with a large gap in the market from the smaller companies they left for dead.

I personally have had experience with "support" that they had with their boot warranty here, and it was non-existent, because "you're in Australia," by far, Europe was also the same from 2nd hand accounts. Not in N. America? TOO BAD.

To this day I have a love-hate relationship with Nike, because I know the bottom line is you're just a number of dollar figures to them.
But damn those boots are comfy it's like you're wearing sneakers, not snowboard boots.
This is why you see a lot of ski bums being very hesitant on Adidas entering the market. (They've been in for about 2 years.)

Edit: That said, I don't think there'll be problems with Nike Skateboarding. It's not that much a niche market, and the shoes translate well into casual shoes. I mean, the only ppl wearing snowboard boots as casual shoes are US rappers.

      jv exclusively wears crocs

      • because Croc rocks.

Looks like this shoe is Made in Vietnam.

    • -4

      Do they use child labour?

    • +8

Um..yeah, a lot of things are made in Vietnam. So?

      • -2

a lot of things are made in Vietnam

        like chupa chups…

        • That's why they dropped the price to 80, labour costs are cheap

        • Should drop lower. It costs Nike on average $5.27 to make a pair of sneakers.

        • @DP1000:

What about marketing, retail store costs, etc?

  • -1

    @ bentan77 :

Most comfy shoes I have ever owned in my life.
Just wore one of my pairs all over USA for 3 weeks and they are buggered, shame about the colour or I wouldve jumped on this.
Just gotta have to fork out to order from Nike.com in my desired colour combination.

    • +2

How's the durability on the shoe? lasted 3 weeks?

      • Durability is OK, not great but not bad.
I had the pair I took with me for about a year before hand as well, not just the 3 weeks.
3 weeks of wearing them almost everyday for 8 hours+ and the glue is giving way in some places.

Regardless, I will stock up on this shoe if they decide to stop making them, they are seriously by far the most comfortable shoe I have ever owned (I have flat and wide feet).

  • Just in time for the upcoming annual Playa Hater's Ball

  • They look comfortable too bad the black colour isn't discounted

  • +1

Bought a pair a few years ago and backpacked for 4 months through Europe with them.

    An amazing pair of shoes!

  • +3

Only sizes left for midgets and big foots :(

    • Damn, beat me by 34 minutes.

I guess it would make a good gift for a midget or a bigfoot if you know any.

  • +4

    Promo code - PA17UA738 $20 off $100 spend

    • thanks for posting that /u/shapers - that saved me money man

  • are these a narrow or wide fit ?

    • -1

      They're for wide boys
      Define: wide boy
      noun/BRITISH/informal
"A man involved in petty criminal activities".

  • Now this is a colour you won't find in conservative Australia…
    http://m.eastbay.com/?uri=product&sku=07497407&model=227148&…

    • wow :D

and yet, still more conservative than those multi fluoro coloured running shoes on Active Wear enthusiasts

    • You can do some sick stuff like this with NIKEiD (lets you customise your own shoes) but they don't ship to Aus. I really want some all black Roshe Ones

      • use a mail forwarder service like reship.com?

        • I considered that but what with the awful Aussie dollar it gets super expensive super quick haha

        • @Pulseidon: sure does! i once wanted these really nice Puma driving shoes that weren't available in the Aus Puma shop, just in the EU one. tried to buy them and have them sent to an EU mail forwarding service in the Netherlands. wouldn't accept my credit card! had to suck it up and use their personal shopper service (where they presumably use their locally-issued credit card to purchase said shoes). so for a pair of shoes that would've cost ~$100 on their own, ended up costing me just over $200 all up. gulp.

        • @tdw: Don't think I can justify the extra $100+ just to get a black rather than a white sole haha

        • @Pulseidon: lol unless perhaps you want to wear these for work, and your work uniform policy requires your shoes to be all black. then claim it as a tax deduction..? ;)

        • @tdw: I've never claimed a tax reduction for uniforms before (not long entered the workforce) - will have to look into this. I work at a bar sometimes and they do want all black shoes haha

        • @Pulseidon: i don't quite get why they need all black shoes when you're standing behind the bar 99% of the time. i've only ever seen the top half of bar staff lol.

        • @tdw: I kinda rotate between the floor and bar so I guess it makes sense - I suppose black shoes show less wear/dirt and bars can be pretty dirty places at times haha

  • No stock for size 8-11

  • I own the black pair…absolutely love them! If u have even slightly wide feet make sure u get the L version, which these are

    • Sizes 6, 8 and 14…

  • What are those!

    • ugly shoes.

  • I'm heading to Europe in June-August. These shoes good for daily walking for long periods of time?

    • +3

as long as you walk where people won't see you…

      • I wouldn't get the red. Shocking! Thinking of getting a Nike SB shoe for the daily shoe. Not sure which one.

        • I wouldn't get the red. Shocking!

          the black isn't discounted though…

        • +2

Get this shoe, you will not be disappointed.
