Postage to 4214, QLD is $15. Very reasonable considering the size of the item.

  • Does anyone know if these come with a starter cartrige, common to ink jets?

    Sorry for the double post.

    • Look at the desc:

Average Cartridge Yield 1,500 standard pages (Ships with 700 pages Starter Toner Cartridge)

      • Sorry - all else fails, read the description!

  • Good price. I just ordered one, selected pick up and the payment option "Bank Transfer / Direct Deposit / Cash On Pick Up". But got an email regarding the order with one line i don't quite understand "[We will process your order as soon as we have validated your direct deposit or post check payment.] " So does it mean i must pay before i go to pick up it and can not pay "Cash On Pick Up"?

    • I just got another email about this order. It is written by real person not the computer and said i can pay cash and pick up, also provided the trading hours. Their services seem pretty good for me:-)

    • Its probably because they expect to sell out, and want to ensure you do actually pick it up.

  • Hi
Anyone can tell me how (what) a USB router can make a printer become wireless printing and don't need a computer connect to the printer? Thanks

Great price. I have a mono Brother laser and am still on the first toner. I don't know why people bother with inkjets any more at this price.

    • Colour!! and continuous ink feed options come to mind.

I have a high quality inkjet printer, but just bought this cheap Samsung laser printer. Why? Inkjet ink will run if it gets wet. Laser print won't. Inkjet printers also have a very annoying habit of consuming some ink every time they're switched on and ready for printing. The ink is used to clean the head and ready the printer. If a user only occasionally prints, they'll use their ink much faster (per page printed) than someone who prints many pages in one session. Laser printers only heat themselves up without consuming toner in the process.

Inkjets of course have important advantages: high quality colour, and printing on glossy photographic paper.

    • I have a Brother HL-1250 Mono Laser that has been going for 10 years! Bought it to print my wedding invites and 10 years later both the marriage and the printer are intact :)

For anyone who got one of these I found the cartridge price here for a 3000 fill version (non genuine) for $57 with 6.50 shipping for orders under $100 (free above that)

    • so basically its more economical to buy 5 printers and keep the cartridges and sell the machines on ebay

      • The cartridges supplied with the printer are 'starter' cartridges, with approximately half the toner of full cartridges. It wouldn't pay to throw out the printer and buy another when the toner runs out.

Anyone buying a printer without a cartridge on eBay should already know that printers are loss leader items for printer cartridges.

  • Thanks Digitalstar. Quick reply. I have a network printer connect with my modem router at the moment. Thanks for your help. Good service.

    $59 + $15 = $74
MSY - $78 and I can pick it up today.

    • Thanks for this info. I wont rush and buy this deal if it's only $4 cheaper.

Toner costs more than the printer!

    • That is how it is with all printers, they sell it dirt cheap and get you back with their proprietary ink cartridges

I got the older model Samsung 1610, and it is easy - no chips or fuse to muck with. Just $10 of toner.
This new model seems to need hacking to refill.

      See thread: http://www.fixyourownprinter.com/forums/printer/59558

This printer uses a credit type chip. Making refilling almost impossible.

Also it is possible to get printers that don't cost a bomb each time you need new cartridges, you just need to do your research!

    • Razor & Blades model.

  • Spewing the cartridges are so expensive, I was really tempted to buy a couple of these!

For home use this printer will last a long time. I picked up a Fuji-Xerox DocuPrint 203a in 2007 and it's still going on it's first cartridge, 3 years later. I used it throughout Uni printing assignments and lecture slides and it's still got plenty of life left in the starter cartridge.

I use toner save at about 600dpi, you could easily get 1000 pages on the starter toner if it's anything like mine. Then you spend about $60 on a new toner and get 3000 pages. The drum is probably only good for 10000 pages anyway, so you'd be getting a fair bit of life out of the printer for just $120.

      +1 from me.

  • Good price especially for pickup - thanks!

Very good price for an entry-level printer. I'll consider buying this as an auxilliary printer for the
    inevitable eve-of-deadline gremlin.

    ALTERNATIVE:
I recently bought a mid-range mono with a considerable price match.

    I based my decision upon:
    + Good long-term costs (Toner 2c/page, Drum 1c/job)
+ Double-sided printing function, "Duplex" (4-pages per sheet at magazine scale)
+ Wireless (kept invisible, in cupboard; for gf.)
