    This isn't a bargain, only $1 at 7-Eleven.

    • +3

7 -Eleven coffee tastes like sh*t mate

      • +14

        You've tasted sh*t… wow !!!

        • +9

          Yeah, it's $1 per cup at 7-11.

        • -1

          Rekt

          @usama91:

You're so cool bro, cool terminology right there.

        • @tren: we used that word 15 years ago. Don't know how it crept up again world wide.. Guess Sherpa gotta be sheeps

        • @usama91:
          Rektum?

        • +1

We have, its only $1 at 7/11!

      • +3

the 7-11 near the corner of Collins and Queen Street has (had?) an actual barista there to make it.. and only $1 which was pretty good

        • +1

Oh, he had official qualifications or was he just standing in front of the machine that dispenses coffee and doesn't need a barista's license to operate? :)

        • -2

          @gokhanh:

          Oh, he had official qualifications

And how do you know the barista at this store has 'qualifications' ?

        • +1

          @jv: I don't, I was asking if he had any :)

        • @gokhanh:

well last time i was there, he pressed the buttons for the coffee and frothed the milk. While it wasn't like a normal cafe where he measures out the beans and puts in the press thing, for $1 it's drinkable

        • @supasaiyan: Yea true, we can't really complain for $1 :)

        • +1

@gokhanh: Barista's need a qualification? I guess hipters need something other than an arts degree to aspire to.

        • @bym: But at least serving people coffee has a benefit, unlike some art installations…

      • +3

it's pretty good for $1. Its now my mon-thurs choice and i splurge on friday for a $4 one.

        You get used to it

        • -1

you could also get used to scooping up a cup of drain water or from a puddle, but i wouldn't recommend that.

        • +1

@01011010: get off your high horse. Its actually not that bad and better than the 70c nespresso stuff

        • @01011010: Yarra River water, heat and serve…

          Nice…

        • You get used to it

I think this is the main thing we can take away from this; "it's only $1 so you get used to it", not" it's great and only $1", but "it's cheap so we can ignore it's other shortcomings". OzB in a nutshell sometimes :)

That is more than double what their employees get paid an hour.

Might want to check out the Skip App for cheap coffee ($1,Free, etc). Loads of cafes listed in Melbourne. Just got my first free coffee this week.

    • +1

      check out the Skip App

      Only for Skips?

  • I've used Skip in the past but no coffee shops near Parliament Station

    • There are a few right next to the station:

      • Little Bean Blue 15 Little Collins St
      • Liaison Cafe, 22 Ridgway Place
      • The Commune, 2 Parliament Place
      • Five Plus Green Smoothie (Collins Place), Collins Place
  • I used to get Skip at Little Bean Blue. . Skip is not accurate. Bean Blue has stopped using Skip ages ago.

  • I will try the other coffee places and report back. Liaison is good and I'm in the market for coffee deals, not the normal $3.50-$3.80 per cuppa.

  • I get mine on the way to work from Shell coles express for 80cents! might not be premium beans does the job and the savings go into 98 for my car.

Get an ING direct card, 'check' your balance at the ATM and then get the same coffee for 30c.

      • @Plmko care to elaborate? ING giving $0.50 for coffee or just in general?

        • It's the old Ozbargain trick:

          • Check balance at Coles Express ATM (costs $1.50)
          • Select 30c coffee voucher print-out
          • Get Coffee
          • Pay with ING paywave
          • ING reimburses you $1.50 in fees and 2% cash back.

Used to be free, but I think OzB people abused the hell out of it and they caught on, although ~0.29c is still good.

  • In Sydney, I'd say the average price for a regular is $3.80 and $4.50 for a large.

What would it be like in Melbourne?

    • +3

A lot of places sell Regular for $3.50 and $4.00 for Large

    • Price of a regular coffee in Melbourne varies between $2.80 and $4. I would say in the city $3.80 is pretty common. The mean price is probably $3.50.

Do you drink coffee for the sake of it being cheap? Just get yourself a tin of international roast.

    • +3

Please read the description. Lower Price but Good coffee.

      • +1

Some people just can't read :)

        • Some people never make mistakes :)

      • Sorry, got confused when the first comment was about 7/11 coffee.

    • You mean International Gross

  • Any good bulletproof coffee on the GC or Brisbane?

  • thanks OP, might check out Entrecote on Monday. are those prices for a small (regular) coffee?

    • Yeah they are for a small/regular. I just tried it today, and won't be going back; if I'm going to buy a coffee I'd rather pay the extra ~$1.30 and get a decent one somewhere else… below par

  • if you want a cheap coffee, make it at home, or at work

7/11 coffee taste like dog poo.

If you are into iced coffee then Romano's is a pretty good choice. $4.50 for a REALLY large cup (as big as Boost's cup) with free cream and ice cream on top. I have tried around 5 cafes using Skip and Romano's got the best value for iced coffee so far.
