    Perth-Melbourne One-Way for $99

Once here, they won't want to return.

    • This is extremely accurate.

I have been to Melbourne several times and always want to return.

Until they want to go to the beach ;)

lolll Melb is so over rated, even the locals think its the "best city in the world"

We have Singapore which is closer and better city for us Perthians to visit.

even the locals think its the "best city in the world"

It's not the locals that voted for it…

"Melbourne has topped The Economist's liveability rankings for a fifth consecutive year."

        http://www.theage.com.au/victoria/melbourne-named-worlds-mos…

The Economist is a London based newspaper/magazine…

        5 years in a row… :)

We have Singapore which is closer and better city for us Perthians to visit.

Perth came 8th, Singapore came 49th…

We're talking from a tourism perspective..

If that study was based on the top percentile of income earners I can bet you Melb won't even be in top 10. There is a difference between livability and cities which are actually great to stay if you have lots of money.

        • @GameChanger:

which are actually great to stay if you have lots of money.

          lol, clutching at straws…

@jv: Do you honestly believe Melb is the best city? Singapore ranks so lowly because its dam expensive whereas in Melb a centrelink hipster can lead a good life.

          @GameChanger:

Do you honestly believe Melb is the best city?

I've worked and lived in Singapore… Yes it's a great city, but hands down, I enjoy living in Melbourne more

        • @jv: That's fair enough, but my point was the Melb imo is greatly over rated and such studies like that favor certain factors.

If money wasn't an issue that list would be very different.

        • @GameChanger:

Melb imo is greatly over rated

          5 years in a row !!!

Have you lived in Melbourne ?

@jv: No I haven't, what is the stand out thing compared to other Australian cities?

        • @GameChanger:

what is the stand out thing compared to other Australian cities?

          It's more liveable…

        • -1

@jv: Then that proves it isn't the best city; liveable doesn't translate to great experience if you have lots of money.

        • @GameChanger:

liveable doesn't translate to great experience if you have lots of money.

lots of people in Melbourne have lots of money and have a great time here… :)

You still have to pay $39 either way, so the net result is the same.

      • Yeah true; I guess if you 100% were going to buy these tickets you might be inclined to join this VIP club for 'future member offers' etc…

News just out on the 2015 airline performance. Jetstar on the MEL<->PER route, 11-12% of these flights get cancelled. That's shocking performance.

    • MEL->PER 11.7% Cancelled
    • PER->MEL 12.2% Cancelled

How in the hell did they possibly manage such a bad record?

You'd almost put this deal in the competitions page.

My last Jetstar flight from Adelaide to Perth was cancelled. I was upgraded to Qantas and the flight left a little earlier than my original flight.

      • lucky!

My father had a horrible experience with them out of Launceston to Sydney. The plane had been delayed so they would have had to pay a fine to arrive in Sydney beyond the curfew. Of course they cancelled it because it wasn't full enough to justify the cost for them. He had to pay heaps for accommodation in Launceston and a short notice early morning VA flight to catch his next flight out of Sydney. They offered nothing but a voucher for the trouble.

        deal heading should be:

The chance to fly Perth-Melbourne One-Way for $99 or Return for $198 on Jetstar!
        • Yep i have heard that before from Jetstar! Friends of mine had a similar experience due to the flight being delayed past Adelaide's curfew. Would not recommend but i did get very lucky! Definitely more of a competition haha

    • My brother has been Perth - Melb 4 times in 6 months on jetstar and everyone of them was cancelled

    • They typically you another ticket on the same day well ahead of the flight. Its a pain when your depature time changes wildly though… There's always the option of a refund but you've normally booked other things by that point.

    • Went to Melb a few years ago on Tiger. My flight back was the day before my gf's, but hers was cancelled so she ended up on mine. I guess we shouldn't reward these companies with continued patronage?

Check out this gov report for Jan 2016 for Jetstar's stats on this route https://bitre.gov.au/publications/ongoing/files/BITRE_OTP_Re…

Melb -> Perth 46.5% of flights cancelled.
Perth -> Melb 48.5% of flights cancelled.

Compared to Virgin which had 0% flights cancelled each way.

Wish I could find these stats for jetstar international. Had my flight to denpasar cancelled 14 hours before we were due to leave, best they could give me was a flight the next day. So I just went to Virgin instead. Much better.

    • Holy shit. Half the flights cancelled in January. Something is going on…

Did they compensate you for the virgin air fare? Or just refund your jetstar fare?
