Probably worth waiting for the Indian smartphone.

    • -1

      What is the indian smartphone?

      • +3

I think he is probably referring to Freedom 251

        • Thanks for the link, will wait for it to be my 1st smartphone !

@ElWircho: I don't think they're exporting to Australia, and even if they did the international delivery cost would mean buying this $19 phone would be cheaper or at least the same.

oh god that phone is terrible, they should make a re-boxing video, one where its packed up and sent back!

Export it from China. I just paid 3 cents and got a button delivered from china.

    • Believe this to be a vapour ware announcement. Journalists received handsets in India and they USED whiteout to cover another manufacturers logo. I LOL when I saw that.

    • Sorry, that's supposed to be a reply to the Indian phone comment

      • Oh dear… where to begin… branding… change in size & design or the 'inspired by Apple' icons? Doesn't bode well!

The whole thing is a Ponzi scam, apparently

“This is a huge scam, that is why I went through all the papers of the company. The government has informed Uttar Pradesh government to check the bonafide of the promoter. This is a Ponzi bogus company scam,” Somaiya told ANI.

The BJP MP has approached telecom ministry, telecom regulator TRAI, consumer ministry, Sebi, corporate ministry, finance ministry, RBI and state governments to check various concerns that he has on company offering mobile phone for Rs 251– which is proving the world’s cheapest smartphone.

  • Just want to say the original Samsung Galaxy Young has decent quality sound for use as an mp3 player. It's tough as. And android makes it easier than Win to organise music.

    5% less using egift = $26.

  • Is this unlockable from Optus easily?

Trying to find the cheapest handset I can use with my Telstra prepaid that has google play so I can spend some of the prepaid dollars on Google play purchases.

    • Probably doesn't have 850 band for Telstra
Found from UK store the phone has HSPA+21/5.76 900/2100.

    • You can score a cheapest android handset from this thread https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/235529

Or you could use your Telstra dollars for unlocking Telstra locked phones

Or sell the credit via eBay/Gumtree.

    • Woolies generally has specials for $14-$29 smartphones. Best bet would be to buy an old one on eBay/gumtree for $5

  • It's a nice deal but this is very outdated.
I've shopped around for this deal after finding it out 2 weeks ago only to find that they were all sold out at multiple Big W's in Melbourne.

But yeah, definitely call for stock and hopefully you'll get lucky :)

  • How would this go for a phone to take jogging? E.g. Nike app, Spotify, basic bluetooth and GPS. Thanks!

  • The Cheap Utility -we're- waiting for is:

    • VW's 2 cylinder Diesel car

    • due ~2017

    • TaTa-class
    • said to be cheaper than an EV to run
