  • warranty registration as mentioned in previous post:

distributed by Tempo Australia, who are quite large and handle many brands.

    • thanks :)

Don't forget your extended warranty people. Issued by Dick Smith :)

      • Do you have his address? So I can get hold of him in case I need to claim. ;)

        • +1

I think he lives in a helicopter flying over somewhere in the outback.

        • @zo1dberg: he hasnt own the company for a long time

          @holyland:
Whoosh. That's the sound of Dickie's helicopter flying over your head.

    • You don't need to register for the manufacturer warranty normally.
They just like it for marketing purposes, and recalls.
      Is this different?

      • only because DS won't be around.
This just ensures there is a record of your purchase with the distributor.

Is this the same clunky UI as found on the Kogan TV's?

No stock in Adelaide or around.

    • But there are stock around NSW, I do not think this should be the cause of neg

No stock in Adelaide or around.

Do you get digital reception there yet?

      • +3

        No that's Tasmania.

        • Is that because its a part of New Zealand?

        • @wako:
No it's because they haven't got electricity there yet.

Does anyone know about the quality? Don't care about all the functionality as long as the pictures is good.

I bought the 55" fhd. Default settings for both picture and sound are crap. However, a few simple tuning makes it much better. I would pick it over other no name Chinese brands.

Another deal on 55'' Akai UHD for $719.20: http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/akai-55-uhd-smart-led-lcd-tv…
I am not sure if we can try to get another 20% off on top of this in-store (receiver sale).

    • It's already 20% off

    • I'm pretty tempted by this one. Does anyone have any feedback about the TV? Is it any good?

    • Why wouldn't you pay the extra 80? That 8 bucks per inch

      • I'm 12 inches so someone do the maths

      • +1

The 55" is UHD, the 65" is only FHD

    • I got a 55"for $636 in store. They said that the price is different to the online pricing so need to go in. I went to look for a 58" model but had no stock.

This needs tweaking to get ok colour, and the sound from the tv under the movie settings is acceptable, but not great.

4k looks amazing, needed to plug my MacBook to get true 4k through it though.

I think its worth what I paid for it. Normal tv is ok, the same sound delay issue that other brands that are the same are apparent but the Akai has a lot of features that can be adjusted that some of the other brands don;t have.

Akai website doesn't work…. I took a risk and am happy with what I paid, even if I will need a PC to get good 4k from it.

      • Just got one for DSE highpoint $639.20

      • Could you expand a little on exactly what the sound delay issue is? Is the audio actually out of sync with the picture for FTA and/or external inputs?

        • I have only tried it on FTA and the lips are out compared to the sound. There is settings in the TV that allows you to change the delay I just havent had a chance to sit down and play with it. My daughter watches cartoons on it mostly and on that its not so noticeable.

There is a delay compensation on the inbuilt speakers and also the SPDIF output. My friend with another 4k tv, (sony or samsung very not cheap) said he had the same thing until he used his HT to provide sound for the TV, using HDMI output.

When i get a chance to play with it ill have a better idea.

  • What about the- "Dick Smith 41.5" UHD DLED LCD TV" it is $479 on the website. Do we get an extra 20% off in store? http://www.dicksmith.com.au/tvs/ds-41-5-uhd-dled-lcd-tv-dsau…

    • I think the prices online match what they are in store

      • It wasnt the case in my exp with ds.This was b4 they went under receivership , im not sure how things r now though.

What happened was i saw a usb hub online for around ~$5. Went to d store n saw the same product in stock. But at a higher price of $40~ . I showed the staff member who served me n he said that i have to order online in order to get that price.

        • That's weird, anytime it hasn't matched in store I just show it to them and they match it

        • @shapers:

Staff are told to not alter prices at all in store. Is what it is

  • +1

So is this tv any good?

  • Says out of stock

    • Cheers! Will update post

      • +1

Still stock at several locations in VIC

    • Hey just got a message back from mods, apparently still lots of stock in Melbourne if you look at the site on a pc, on mobile it's showing out of stock

      • +1

There is a known glitch that the mobile site shows no stock when there is.

  • Nothing in SA that I can see
Cost extra $49.9x for shipping to SA
