For $100 more you can fly direct from Qantas. With Air NZ you'll have a layover in Auckland which could be between 1 and 6 hours. Last time I flew them I popped into the city for a little bit and then came back however the airport bus is slow and unreliable for those with faint hearts.
EDIT: Also, booking directly through the Air NZ website is $944.
That deal is now expired neil. Qantas is around $260 more (cheapest is $1162 return).
