To get your pass, dial #820# with your compatible Telstra mobile and follow the prompts.

Then you'll get a SMS with links to select either an AFL or a NRL pass

Things you need to know
You must be on a consumer or small business Telstra post-paid mobile plan
One 2016 Footy Pass per customer (NRL or AFL). Redeem offer by 31 December 2016 using your compatible Telstra mobile on the Telstra mobile network. Pass expires 31 January 2017.
Existing Telstra AFL Live Pass or NRL Digital Pass holders are also eligible for one 2016 Footy Pass if they are on an eligible Telstra mobile plan.
If you’re an existing subscriber, and you are eligible for our 2016 Footy Pass, ongoing subscription payments for your NRL Digital Pass or AFL Live Pass will automatically stop when you activate the 2016 Footy Pass, unless you subscribed through an app store. If you purchased your AFL or NRL subscription through an app store, cancel with the iOS App store or Google Play Store

    Got a mate to dial the number on his phone and he forwarded the link to me.
    Used my existing bigpond email login details and it worked on my account eventhough the post paid mobile doesn’t belong to me (only have internet/landline with Telstra)

    So just to confirm (as I'm on prepaid) I just downloaded the AFL app manually & then used my Telstra ID to login, which works fine. But this won't let me watch matches until I get a code?

      How to you obtain the Promo Code?
      Actually made the mistake of trying to call Telstra for assistance - 90 minutes and six departments later they still had no idea!

      Dial #820# then press the call button. You should get an sms with the links. Follow the relevant link and you'll get the subscription.

    • Cheers Sarge, that's what I have been doing.
      There is an automated reply from Telstra that provides a link to the AFL sign up page - but that page is for people who are paying, you are required to select a paid plan and enter CC details.
      There is a Promo code box on the sign up page, but no promo code is provided with the Tesltra response….so just going around in ever decreasing circles!

      I had to log in with my Telstra account first, and then click the link and it went to a different page.

      Maybe if you have an Android Smart TV… or if you can cast screen from your Android Phone.
      Otherwise no.. You'll need some sort of Android TV Stick or possibly an Apple TV

    looking at the first NRL game tonight, watching via laptop..
    am I missing something or is it only watchable in a small window in the browser and the quality is pretty poor..
    Compared to the free (and with a smartdns easily obtainable) livestreams alternative this seems pretty average for the 'official' streaming option

      You are not mistaken, it is due to telstra's rights to not show on a large screen. I tried playing it on my tv last night through laptop, there is some type of protection in the stream which i havnt encountered before, as soon as its on an HDMI connected screen it stops playing. Tried various different things but ultimately gave up
