Was looking for a cheap iPhone for a friends mistress and stumbled across this deal for him. Seems like in store only deal as click and collect or online order wasn't available for me. Maybe it may vary by area.

It showed stock in various stores around my area in Sydney so hopefully there's still a few floating around nationwide.

I'm not going to list the specs other than tell you that both silver and Grey are available and only 16gb model listed.

    for a friends mistress

seems like some unnecessary details, which require further elaboration

    • +1

Hahaha… True story. Just trying to help the community

      • Just give me a two old phone as return (of what truly happened)?!!! :p

    • Sugar daddy???? :)

  • +6

    Really?

$529 outright at Telstra, and even that isn't on special!

    • Well I guess the one I listed is network unlocked and unbranded. I'm guessing Telstra would charge to unlock the one you are referring to?

      • +1

$80 yes if you do it straight away ($25 after 6 months), which still results in it only being $10 more than what you've linked to.

        • +1

so its not very cheap cheap, but still $10 cheaper than telstra :)

        • +3

          @mcp2kpro:

$100 cheaper in January. This is an old phone. If you're prepared to pay more than it was 6 weeks ago, you need help…

        • @mcp2kpro:

And saves u the hassle of going through the unlocking process aswell as being stuck with Telstra widgets or apps

        • @Spackbace: what about people who needs it now and not 6 weeks ago?

        • +1

what about people who needs it now and not 6 weeks ago?

Those people shouldn't be hanging around ozbargain then. Just go out a buy the phone at the listed price.

        • +1

He can buy her an Aldi Sim .telstra network….and unlock after 6 months ….if he has to pay for the phone prabably has to pay for plan and telstra will give best coverage so she can be contacted in more places than with any other carrier. Do you only want 1 bar when love is calling ? Or no bars and have missed call from love.

        • -4

@titan0r: And who are you to say who should be hanging around here? People trying to share a deal with you, it might not appealing so you tell them to f*** off? What an ignorant prick you are.

        • +1

          @Boulders:

I bought my Telstra prepaid version from JB for $499 which doesn't contain widgets or apps (you're thinking of Android).

Also rung Telstra who happily unlocked it for free so I could put my Optus sim in it.

        • +2

          @garage sale:

Do you only want 1 bar when love is calling ?

By the sounds of it, the OP is intimately involved in the relationship.

So, I'm guessing that the mistress will have multiple bars available if required.

        • +2

          @mcp2kpro:
There is no need to be rude. I was not bagging the deal or the OP, rather just agreeing with what spaceback stated i.e. this phone was available at a cheaper price 6 weeks ago. AFAIK ozb and its members want the cheapest price for an item. If you want to buy something that was cheaper 6 weeks ago at a higher price now then by all means do so but please get off your high horse and stop name calling people who state the obvious.

        • -1

@titan0r: Last I checked, you were the one saying "those people shouldn't hang around ozbargain" So not sure who being rude there. But otherwise just state the obvious which is it's not the cheapest deal" and move along. Dont tell other people what to do.

        • -3

          @mcp2kpro:
You called me an ignorant prick and yet you ask who the rude one is??? If someone wants this phone right away and are not willing to wait for the price to go down to its cheapest levels again should not waste their time looking for deals here. They should just go buy the phone. How hard is that for you to grasp? I am not being rude, just stating the facts!

        • @titan0r: so did I

        • Pay with wish cards to save 5%. So that's $30 more savings.

        • @krouton24:
Is that still available and was there a waiting period to unlock?

        • @titan0r:

          Double post

        • @titan0r:

My friend never had a mistress that needed an iphone 6 weeks ago. Apparently alot can happen in 6 weeks.

        • @Boulders:

          Lol I agree :-)

        • @Boulders:

          It's now $529.

I called Telstra about 25 mins after buying the phone ot have it unlocked.

          YMMV

        • +1

          @titan0r:

There is no need to be rude. I was not bagging the deal or the OP, rather just agreeing with what spaceback stated

Who is this 'spaceback' that you are talking of? :)

        • Or if you can find 3 $5/$10 Telstra SIMs, you can activate, transfer credit to one sim and use $80 main credit to unlock the phone.

        • @bghunter:

          Oops I meant spackbace. :-)

  • +3

Even mistress will charge your friend to unlock in future :-)

  • Remember 3.5% cashrewards on Big w :)

    • 5% discount using wish cards is a better option. Also this deal is only in store.

      • oh true that, just skimmed the post and missed that, not sure how to delete my comment :(

$750 for a three generations-old phone? Boy, they sure know their market…

    • +2

Well no, since this is for the 5S which is TWO generations old, and is still a current model.

Never fear, your comment will automatically become correct in just over 6 months.

      • -1

6S, 6, 5S. It's 3 generations old. The current phone is 1 generation old, it can't be zero generations old! Current gen.

        • +1

The current phone is 1 generation old, it can't be zero generations old! Current gen

OMG - who could possibly argue with that kind of logic!

          FAIL.

  • +6

I'm more interested in this mistress story than the deal!

    Elaborate please

  • -5

OzMobiles buy and sell phones pretty cheap (although not as much of a discount on brand new phones). They have some 2nd hand iPhone5s ones at around $350. New I think they are about $500.

I know the guy that runs the business, so can guarantee they are legit, but make sure if you do use them you pay for insurance. There's customers who have had their delivery lost in the mail, and unlike when you buy from the big guys, if you don't have delivery insurance, they really screw you.

To be clear, there may be other retailers out there who are better or more cost effective. Only referencing these guys because I know them, and they are Aussie based.

    • +2

      mad spam

  • +3

I think OP's friend got himself a better deal than the post, mistress that would accept iphone 5s 16gb is a good deal. Normally mistress would accept nothing less than iphone 6s plus 128gb.

  • +1

Grab a Galaxy S5 for $400, much better deal

  • +2

Do people still buy overpriced 4" phones in 2016?

    • 4 ppl seemed to think it was a great deal… lol so yes?

    • I think you will tend to find that Iphones last longer than other phones. Also their performance is steady over a 24 month period.

Not everyone wants to look like a tosser holding a 6 or 7 inch phablet up to their ear whilst making a phone call.

Not everyone wants to use 2 hands to send a text message, type a phone number, or perform other simple tasks.

Not everyone has such poor eyesight that they need a screen that is too large to safely store in a clothes pocket.

Not everyone wants the grief of dealing with Android's quirks, the poor overall performance, inconsistent interface, apps that take over the device and have permissions that create significant privacy concerns.

Not everyone wants the annoyance of ever-increasing and almost uncontrollable background apps and services that eat up CPU and Battery resources to the point that the device becomes non-functional. Then having to clear everything off and reinstall the operating system just to get the thing running again.

Not everyone wants an expensive device where firmware updates are device-specific and can take years to arrive, if at all. Most android devices (like my Note 3) are quickly abandoned by the manufacturer, often within a few months of purchase. Yeah, Google branded devices are the exception, but not everyone wants those.

Not everyone wants to use devices controlled by Google, arguably the world's most insidious data mining company.

Not everyone wants a high-tech device that depreciates quickly, becoming undesirable (and almost unsaleable) after a couple of years. Retained value is important, as is total (and ongoing) cost of ownership.

Amazing as it might seem to the Android fanbois, many people will gladly pay extra to get something that "just works" straight out of the box, and continues to work for a reasonable time.

I use 2 older model phones every day, a Samsung Note 3 and an iPhone 5. The iphone is an infinitely better overall package, is better to use, has better battery life, better call quality, and is superior in a multitude of other details. Yes, it certainly has a smaller screen, which is exactly why I prefer it as a mobile phone.

      • +1

This is the exact reason I still have my 4s. Thank you

        • It was designed small so you can reach any part of the screen with your thumb so only need 1 hand to operate.

    • Depends how much you are into ios ecosysten. I used to have iphone now android lack of funds is why I have android and good luck to those that can afford an iPhone.

  • +1

i have had a few pre-paid iPhones unlocked from Telstra over the phone and have never been asked to pay anything and always had it done instantly with no questions asked. I was told once that Apple won't let them charge to unlock their phones.

  • +1

Mistress and cheap don't belong in the same sentence. Mistresses are inherently expensive.

  • Just a heads up: Apple are rumoured to be announcing an upgraded version of this model, the iPhone SE, on March 25.

  • +1

I have an unlocked iPhone 6plus, im looking for a mistress

    • I have a used model that I am keen to convert into someone else's Mistress.

Sell the iPhone and gimme $15, and you have a deal.
