Kaiser Baas Revo Glider (Refurbished) - $299.99 Posted @ Kaiser Baas eBay

120

Pretty good price for one of these self balancing scooter things. Especially good price since this model has being made to meet Australian safety standards (won't burn your house down).
This seems to be Kaiser Baas official ebay page but i cannot confirm.
Thanks

Oh refurbed after it sent someone else's house up in flames.

I'd buy one if the price down below $100.

  • These will sell like hot cakes!

Does this come with any deal on Life Insurance?

  • I know how much Ozbargain hates these, but am I the only one that actually thinks they would be fun?

some kid in QLD got one for a birthday, took it out for a spin, fell off, cracked his head on the pavement, was in a wheelchair.

      I'll steer clear.

      • Thanks. You've turned me off it. Imagining a helmet doesn't stop the thought.

Take it you've never owned a bike or climbed a tree as a kid then?

        • all the time, but ur balance is not so precarious in those instances as here.. u can't compare a bike to this - this is way, way more dangerous cos your entire frame rests on a centre of gravity below your feet.. very precarious and nothing like a bike or being in a tree

          nice try tho

          (not really, it was crapola)

I always think of this when I see ads for these things.

I voted purely for you not calling it a hover board.

    • The "Smart Electric Self Balancing Two Wheel Personal Scooter" or SESBTWPS.

  • I heard on the (3AW) radio news these are/will be totally banned from sale in Victoria, maybe it was/will be all of Australia…

  • I love the fact this was posted just after the deal for a first aid certificate…

since this model has being made to meet Australian safety standards (won't burn your house down).

There is no Australian Standard for devices of thus kind.

The fact that the seller makes the claim almost proves that it is shonky.

EDIT: There is ABSOLUTELY NOTHING on that Ebay listing that says that the product complies with Australian standards. In fact, from the way it is worded, my impression is that it certainly doesn't.

So the OP's description needs to be edited.

    • The "Australian Standards" probably refers to the high-voltage power supply used for charging.
But thats not what has caused fires.
I would not go charging any Li-ion battery, including power-tools, near anything flammable.
Even charging li-ion torch batteries should be kept well away from curtains etc.

People just don't know how dangerous they can be. The same people would not fill their petrol lawnmower in the house. Its a matter of education.

Note that these have very small wheels with solid rubber tyres, so you'll need smooth-paved surface to play on. It ain't no Segway.

      • …. It ain't no Segway…

        But that's another topic ;)

      • The "Australian Standards" probably refers to the high-voltage power supply used for charging.

If it had a standards-compliant charger, they would have stated that and quoted the approval number.

They wouldn't have written "We take electrical and general safety very seriously and so, the design and the components inside the Revo Glider are of the highest quality."
"If you have any questions about the safety standards for the Revo Glider, please feel free to have a chat to our Tech Team "

  • Read this before placing your order unless you want to burn your house down.
