QANTAS Direct to Los Angeles High Season (Return) Melb $865, Syd $880, Bris $882 @ IWTF

1310

Lots of great deals to Los Angeles lately, but this is probably the best. Direct flights with our national carrier and plenty of seats available for travel through to January 2017. Flights originating in Perth, Adelaide, Hobart & Canberra are not direct. No idea how long these fares will last. Strangely on this occasion paying by CC is the cheapest option. Safe travels :)

Melbourne to Los Angeles $865 return
Brisbane to Los Angeles $880 return
Sydney to Los Angeles $882 return
Perth to Los Angeles $984 return
Adelaide to Los Angeles $996 return
Hobart to Los Angeles $1089 return
Canberra to Los Angeles $1148 return

  • Good find TA

  • Seems like the cheapest one is using AA flight for one of the leg.
Still very cheap though for Qantas

    • I just came back from a trip using a similar deal last year, I flew the A380 to LAX and AA on the return. I personally found the AA flight better.

After some flights to HK not LA! ;)

  • Booked some tix from IWTF about a month ago for about 1080 return. I wonder if i can cancel and book these flights.

For discount economy (which is what we all book), there's normally a cancellation fee of anywhere from $100 to $500. It's usually not worth it, unfortunately :(

One exception: You can normally cancel a flight within 24 hours of booking it for free. This is mandated for US-based airlines, but non-US airlines sometimes do it too.

Can someone tell me what dates I should search for to find the $865 Melb to LA return ? Can't seem to see that price for January …

  • -1

I've tried about 30 test searches and can't find any Brisbane return flights for $880 from Qantas let alone any other carriers. OP can you post example dates to prove the price you got.

    • If your are trying through qantas website DONT! The prices were valid through bestjet.com. I tried Mel to LA through Qantas and they wanted and additional $200 + pp.

      • Found that the same as well, need to use bestjet and not Qantas.com

Leaving in November is not "high season" though.

Specific date exclusions from the promotion should be posted with travel deals.

      • I used the IWTF link provided by OP

No need for a neg! - see date eg of late July to mid Aug http://imgur.com/bRfKUfH

I neged this because the OK didn't give any example date plus I was going thought the link provided which were from IWTF and got non that were even close to $880.

After reading reviews on bestjet I would never book through them so I never search through their site.

Pro Tip: Have heard plenty of horror stories about BestJet. For peace of kind, get Flight Centre to price-beat by $1 and book through them.

    • +1

If it's booked through them and you're given a QF PNR, should be all good?

      • +2

yeah that shd be ok I guess. Problem is when a lot of times you book and don't get than e-ticket instantaneously only to be informed after upto a week that the ticket can't be booked. Plenty of chatter online around that

    • Wait the 24 hours before booking everything else … once you are given the eticket I cant imagine what issues you would have.

  • Blimey. I paid nearly $1800 a year or so ago.

Couldn't find anything, after some dates in May or June on Qantas from Melb…can anyone help?

  • I need late September to mid October… so expensive! Will have to wait for a better deal.

  • Looks like they are trying to entice people to the US with the weak AUD.

  • Thanks TA

managed to cancel an old booking for $1600 and rebook for about $1k and change my flight dates!

  • I booked qantas bit more expensive $1400. Will there be cancellation fee if i cancel my booking & rebook with the current offer. It will be good saving for family of 4

    • if you booked the flights on a sale its 400 pp. it worked out for me by a little bit though

  • How did you cancel & rebook? Did you book through agent or direct Qantas

    • i did it with qantas online so I cancelled online

Anyone else think this picture is a GTA V screenshot?

  • Tightarse, thanks a million. Have been looking closely at the deals for LA and decided to use this one and get Flight Centre to do their price guarantee.

  • Does anyone know if you can pay for these flights with Qantas frequent flyer points instead?

    • you can if you book directly with qantas I think other than taxes etc

  • How did you cancel & book. Qantas website is lot more expensive than agents

  • Trigger Pulled. Thanks Tight!

  • What's to do in LA for a young couple with a 2 yr old?

    • Check out the main beaches (Santa Monica, Laguna, new Port, long Beach). The rest is a huge concrete jungle.. Get ready for highway after highway. There's always Disneyland too.

    • Griffith Park, Malibu. Not sure how well your 2 yr old handles shopping but there's a lot of that. Lots of great casual food options that are fine to take a young child too. Just keep in mind they will need to be very good in the car since you're going to be spending a few hours a day sitting in traffic. Strongly disagree with the concrete jungle comment. It's a beautiful, low density city with lots of parks, open spaces and tree topped neighbourhoods.

  • I should have pulled the trigger, flights in July with Qantas are now double that and more from Melbourne to LA :(
