hang on, what is the deal with this code? looks like an eBay promo code with wider application than just to a chromecast?

Whats so good about the chromecast anyway? If you already have a smart tv is it pointless?
If you have a smart tv, you don't really need a chromecast unless there are some streaming services that you want but isn't supported by the tv.
Otherwise, you may get some use from it for parties when you have several friends queuing youtube vids together… i think…

Probably not, I've replaced one of my CC 1 with a PS4 recently.
Tempted, but my CC 1 is still working… anyone know whether it is worth upgrading? From some articles, it seems they pretty much have the same hardware, just better wireless support.
better wireless support and things cast quicker. if your CC1 is working well not really worth the upgrade. my CC1 can lag so i'm def getting a CC2
I haven't really had any issues with the hardware, I think the software of either my phone apps or the CC 1 needs fixing though… sometimes it doesn't cast or youtube doesn't cast something new and loops…
Is the lag really from your router to Chromecast or the router to internet connection? A Netflix HD stream for example is 5-7Mbps - not exactly at the upper limit of 802.11n (40-50 Mbps typically in real life).
i can stream via the WiiU/Xbone/Laptops etc. all fine in HD. it's only Chromecast that lags so yes it's chromecast
Fair enough. Mine (and I believe most others') doesn't lag at all (except on iView and that's an issue with their service). It's strange that the WiFi speed of the Chromecast is a limiting factor for you and not others. The range is terrible so maybe that's an issue?
5ghz wifi would be another factor. Can stream 1080p via Plex on Chromecast 2 but get constant dropouts on v1.
Good point. I've always been able to find a 2.4GHz channel without too much congestion but that might not be a possibility for everyone, especially those in apartments.
Lower price than usual but I still think chromecast 1 is sufficient. I picked one up yesterday for $34 at jb hifi pricematched from harvey norman/officeworks.

Not sure what you guys are doing wrong but yesterday it was all fine and worked perfectly. I was only charged $47.20 from PP.
When I purchased an Xbox controller from Target eBay it did the same thing, its totally fine. It treats the 20% discount as credit from the store you purchased it from.
So your Paypal receipt will show 47.20 taken from your bank account, and the remainder as credit from GoodGuys.
Looks like it works again. I just bought it for click and collect for $47.

The code works on the eBay checkout page, BUT the discount is removed when you proceed to pay with PayPal (and you can only pay with Paypal)
I paid with Paypal and the discount was successful.
