$128 plus $24-$36 delivery makes $134.40 cheaper then.

      • Plus I think Camera Sky is a grey importer so Canon Australia won't service the warranty.

  • Thanks mate, got a good guys 10 mins walk from me picking up tomorrow afternoon.

  • Good deal, Teds are selling it for $200 at the moment.

    Thanks OP. Bought 1.
P.S. Plus $1.80 cash back via Cashrewards.

  • Strange that the lens on its own is selling for $189

    • I ordered the $189 one yesterday. can I cancel or return it and order this $168 one? I haven't pick up it.

      • I have no clue, but as its not opened i dont see why not.

        • thanks, had email the pickup shop to cancelled the order.

  • Sorry for being a newb, but EF (without the S) is for full frame mount?

  • Is it just me who buys stuff for more price and the next week eBay has a sale… :(

  • Is this lens good for vlogging? If not can someone recommend something?

    • +1

The 24mm f2.8 stm would be better, that is if you don't have a full frame camera.

      http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Canon-EF-S-24mm-F2-8-STM-/1217454…

    • For Vlogging try a wider angle lens somewhere between 16mm to 28mm range to fit in more of your surroundings and ensure it has built in image stabilisation other wise your footage will look shakey when your filming hand held.

      • Thanks, I ordered the 24mm posted above, I hope it's good. I just want to make standard chat-to-camera type video's but also occasionally vblog, Caisey Nestadt style. Hope this lens is okay for that. Was $180ish after discount.

        • Must use tripod, it does not have IS.

  • Does any one know whats the difference between this and Canon EF5018ST EF 50 f/1.8 STM Lens (for $189 at http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/141706512403?referrer=swiftproduc…) ?

    • Nothing, same lens

    • This "Portrait pack" includes a lens cleaning pen I believe.

      • and a microfibre cloth :)

the portrait packs for the II came with a remote too

  • I have crop sensor camera. should i wait and buy 35mm instead? Any suggestions//

    • Depends what you want it for. 50mm on full frame is equivalent to what the eye can see and is a good general lens. on a crop its equivalent to 80mm which is good for portraits.

I have a crop 60D, a 35mm (Zeiss) and 50mm (non-STM, which was my first lens) plus other zoom lenses. If you're on a tight budget, get this lens. It'll teach you a lot, is very sharp in low light and excellent for portraits on a crop sensor. If you have the money, buy both. A 35mm is very versatile and again will teach you how to frame your subjects. I'm of the opinion that you only need these 2 lenses but that's just me, i'm just an amatuer

  • Another noob question, would this work on a Canon EOS 6D? Hoping to take portraits mostly, and baby photos etc

    • +2

      yes

      • Thank you!

  • EDIT: Not expired. I just typed in the code incorrectly. Decisions, decisions.

  • Tempting.

  • Offtopic, will it be wrong if i say Canon actually have got their shit together first, nailed lens design for digital photog and offered simpler lens choice range over Nikon?? Nikon has so many varriants for a given focal length… Gahh.

  • whats the filter size for this lens?

    • 49mm

      • thanks! yeah i bought this last night, its a bit zoomed on my cropped camera but hats to be expected.. nice lens with the blurry background
