So, the NUC are not consider good prices?

    • +3

no, futu just raised the price of the i5 5th gen by $20, only thing worth noting is Kogan with the i3 4th gen around $270 mark but it's still a meh

      • thanks for the info. waiting for better time

      • +1

futu just raised other prices as well, for ssd m.2's…. surley this goes against the ozbargain ethics.

        • Futu/Shopping express do it all the time with these types of sales. You will get fanboys here saying 'it's the aus $$$' or 'price fluctuates with supplier its not their fault'… Yeah in less than a few hours??

Saying that SE do have some good deals.

        • @Saiya: Yea, wish SE Rep gets a better deal and can get some sales. Not happy when they raise the price even ebay is paying the discount.

        • I got my futu deal on Monday when i got the original code to work. They pumped up the price of the Samsung pro 512 M2 drive by $50 since i got mine 2 days ago

        • @too_much_boost:

yea, at 5.15pm on way home from work it was still 499…. when i checked after dinner and tv, it was 550… feel duped. bad karma to futu.

They also have a 128gb microsd for $70 after 20% off

    • +1

Thanks, adding stuff as I go lol :)

      • TA, can you get some NUC deal from them? :)

  • What's the better brand for micro sd cards - Kingston, SanDisk or Samsung?

    • SanDisk is usually the better card - at least I find. Same-same. Just check speed tests if you're picky about small differences.

      • Thanks got the 32 gig SanDisk

  • Well PC Byte never responded when I asked for a deal on a 16GB. Looks like I'll have to go to Futu.

  • any deals on UHS-3 ? pls point me :(

  • Is the Sandisk Ultra II better/equivalent to the Samsung 850 EVO???

    Given the $19 difference

  • I want the 500gb 850 evo at $190 again

oh wow, FUTU just jacked up its SAMSUNG 950 PRO 512GB devices from $499 yesterday to $550 today, to rake in with the 20% bonuses.

THIS ATTITUDE HAS PUT ME OFF BUYING FROM FUTU….. ESP. as the AUD has just GOTTEN STRONGER this past week!

    WTF !?!

Yep I had my eye on it too. Seeing as you can get it for 460 locally that makes it not worth it

      • is the futu stock imported (aka. 12 months warranty), where r u looking at locally (aka. 5 yr warranty), to source it? not kogan i hope —- that's also imported.

        • No my bad I think it's local stock. 461 on static ice (but have to pay postage). I guess it's still slightly cheaper from futu. I wrote to them asking why the price hike. :)

    • Futu and Shopping Express are the same. Not sure why they did it. Their rep is present here and might be able to explain. TA also knows them.

      • +2

out of principal, i will buy this item somewhere else, until they return the price back to the original $499 during the current ebay 20% off.

it put a foul taste in ur mouth, akin to why people hate kogan. nice one futu!

  • Thanks for sorting it OP.

  • Samsung 64GB PRO MicroSD $55.96

That's a bit meh to be honest. Amazon had them for $29.95 USD a few days ago (about $45). The shipping was negligible when added to other items in your order.

  • I just bought a TP-Link archer D7 modem for $138.40
    cheapest I could find online

  • couple of items already listed here
    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/237694

  • I bought Samsung Evo 250GB. Didnt saw that it was only for Laptop. however I want to use this SSD on my desktop. Is it possible to use this in desktop or it is only for laptop?

    • Of course, SATA is SATA. Just screw it into the side of a 5.25" bay or use some double sided tape rather than mount it in a space where 3.5" drives normally go.

  • Guys, I bought the Sandisk Extreme UHS-I Class U3 64 gb cards in one of the other deals. I was just wondering what is considered a 'reasonable' read/write MByte/s speed?

It is my first time trying out h2testw for whether a card is genuine. It is still running but all i'm getting so far is 10,000 MBs written, and on average the write speed is hovering around 16.0 MBytes/s.

THe packaging claims speed up to 90 MB/s (read from memory) but that write speed should go up to 40 MB/s.

Is my card likely a fake then given I'm only getting 16 MByte/s? I need to use the micro sd card in a gopro hero+LCD, it'll be my first time using a sports action camera but I was under the impression you need very fast class speeds to ensure HD quality video?

Can anyone comment on whether I should query the card (bought from pcybte. Came very quick, bought, shipped o a tuesday from syd, here by thurs in WA)

    • I got the following:

Warning: Only 60873 of 60874 MByte tested.
      Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
      Writing speed: 15.8 MByte/s
      Reading speed: 16.8 MByte/s
      H2testw v1.4

Is this ok? I thought the Sandisk Extreme was > Sandisk ultra? With some users stating sandisk ultra doing 80MBps how is this anywhere near the 16.8 I'm getting for my reading speed? Am I missing something?

      • +1

Card speeds are also affected by the card reader you use. Are you using a good quality USB 3.0 card reader?

        • I was using the sd cards reader slot inbuilt into my laptop? Does that help to explain anything?

        • I tried again with the U1 version of an older sandisk extreme iv'e been using in my dslr a few times, that seems to work 'fine', but of course never tried with HD sports video. I'm getting the following results - does this mean perhaps my inbuilt sd card reader is bottle necked given this is a U1 class card and it is coming up with similar readings to my U3 class sandisk extreme as posted in my other post adjacent?

This was a 32 gb card as opposed to the 64 gb one, but it shouldn't matter speed wise i would think?

Warning: Only 29160 of 30424 MByte tested.
          Test finished without errors.
You can now delete the test files *.h2w or verify them again.
          Writing speed: 15.5 MByte/s
          Reading speed: 16.9 MByte/s
          H2testw v1.4

If there is no bottle neck I am worried - why would this old U1 class UHS-I card be the same speeds nearly as the UHS-I U3 card? I wouldn't need to buy U3 over U1 at a premium in that case?

  • whats the write speed on the samsung evo microsd?
its better to get the sandisk ultra 80mbs right?

  • No Sandisk Extreme? It's the card I know works with a GoPro 4!

  • If i have 4gb ram in my laptop can i get an 8gb aswell or do they both need to be the same. Like 4gb and another 4gb or 8gb and 8gb?
It might not be worded correctly

    • Doesn't need to be the same, youll see the memory add up. But it won't be running optimally either on dual channel mode

      • Thanks for that.
So your better off with the one but that one being larger like 8 or 16gb?

        • Preferably you'd want 2 sticks from the same kit since they're matched. But mix and matching will just cause the faster one to slow down to match the other. Perfectly fine if you're not looking for absolute bleeding edge performance

  • SanDisk 64GB Micro SD 80MB

These the best price so far?

    • I think so

    • It's the same price from PCBYTE and I think it is the lowest it has ever been.

      • +1

yeah its out of stock best price point on the whole list haha

  • is the futu rep reading this thread, or have they gone away to count their $$'s… (cf. price hiking allegations). ebay should be made aware of this and they should be banned from such future deals, including free advertising on ozbargain.

    • notably quiet, and i guess we know why.

assume the typical 5% profit on these "low margin" items, on a $499 sale they'd profit $25. (taking in p+h etc).

by bumping price to $550, they take in to profit $75… which is 300% greater.

(ebay pick up the 20% off bonus, as part of their marketing expenses, in their bid to justify their continued existence).

ofcourse they'll do it, if they can get away with it. and they will, cause nobody stand in their way, and they continue to get OZBARGAIN support.

      disgraceful.

Been waiting for MONTHS on a decent deal for laptop RAM!

Almost bought 16GB of mad stuff from Amazon, and parked current 8GB KVR16LS11/8 for later.
All got too complicated, trying to find an easy deal that would actually ship!

That price is by-far the best in the country. Great score! Grabbed one, thanks.
$53.90 + delivery was the best. This is 13% cheaper, delivered free!

Just took delivery today of my 5x128GB MicroSD from Amazon though.
Now THAT was a steal. AU$46.30 each, delivered. Perfect for the mobiles/tablets.

    • umm, there are customer reports those 5x128GB microsd's u got are confirmed not suitable for android/windows phones :-?

      • Source, please? I can only find 5 year old concerns, related industry-wide to 32GB cards.

Mostly, friends wanted them to double their MacBook Air storage… But I definitely want to use in my Android phones/tablets.

  • Samsung 64GB USB 3.0 Flash Drive Fit Memory Storage. Price went up $1 since yesterday.

  • SanDisk 240GB Ultra II is sold out.
Is there much difference between that and the SanDisk 240GB SSD Plus ?

    Just older packaging/branding ?

  • bought a Sandisk 32GB MicoSD when it was showing only 2 available. Now when I go to the page it says "Last one". hehe

    http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Sandisk-32GB-Micro-SD-Memory-Card…

  • Can anyone recommend an SD card for me? I have a Sony Z2 mobile, I think it takes a Mirco SD? I need to check. I have 16GB in it, but I need more.

I also have a Samsung Galazy Tab 3? Well it's only 6-12 months old and latest model I believe.

I will only use for movies, games while traveling.

I have no idea tho? I was just going to head into Officeworks and buy something, unless it's much cheaper online!

    Thanks

    • Samsung Galaxy Tab 4, sorry.

All good, the 64GB Ultra Micro will fit my phone, but I believe Samsung Galaxy Tab 4 only allows mirco sd up to 32GB.
