Living Colour plant giveaway

When: Sunday 13 March 2016

Time: From 8am – while stocks last

Where: St Marys Cathedral forecourt College Street

The City of Sydney will spread colour across the city when it gives away thousands of beautiful blooms and plants from the stunning Living Colour summer displays.

More than 5,000 plants including marigolds, petunia, salvia, celosia, lavender, mint and basil will be given away in support of the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.

Living Colour is a twice-yearly floral exhibition that brightens up public areas at Martin Place, Green Square, Town Hall, Alfred Street and the forecourt outside St Mary’s Cathedral.

Lord Mayor Clover Moore said it’s a great opportunity for Sydneysiders to come along and pick up a free splash of colour they can take home and nurture.

“Our beautiful Living Colour display has brought inner city streets to life over the past few months, this is an opportunity to keep these blooms growing in homes across the city,” the Lord Mayor said.

“In return for taking home a burst of colour, we’re asking people to support an important cause with a gold coin donation to the Ovarian Cancer Research Foundation.”

Living Colour has brightened Sydney’s streets for the last 10 years and uses water-wise, native and edible plants which are always re-homed or composted after the event. The displays are designed and installed by a team of specialist landscapers and the flowers are grown locally in NSW.
