  • Any deal on DDR4 compatible mobos?

    • There are a couple but not that much cheaper than local stock, some have been posted previously too.

This one seems good if you're one of those who prefer the best !!

      • Sorry, I was talking about motherboards. :)

        • Thing with buying overseas mobo is that if it DOA you're in for a long wait till you can get your system running. I'd rather pay a few more dollars locally than having to deal with that. Same goes for CPU.

        • @educalifa: Depends which company and how they deal with DOA/warranty issues. Noting that their policies evolve over time, it's important to know what the status of that is at the time of purchase. Also if you bought some obscure item that does not get sold in Australia, that can be more difficult for them to repair or replace.

EVGA has complete Global warranty: http://www.evga.com/articles/00671/
Asus also has fairly generous international warranties. https://www.asus.com/au/support/article/599/
MSI does have global warranty but with some minor caveats. https://www.msi.com/page/warranty-condition

Some details specific to notebooks: https://whirlpool.net.au/wiki/import_notebook_warranty

As for CPUs, you're dealing with either Intel or AMD. Intel/AMD OEM (for a CPU in a complete system) is dealt with through the vendor, so for that, any warranty doesn't come from Intel/AMD. And also Intel forbids sale of CPUs on Amazon outside USA, so. AMD retail boxed CPU would have international warranty.

On the other hand, if it's saving $30 or less (10%), I would definitely buy in Australia. You have very strong rights as a consumer so much more flexibility.

        • Oops :) Was in a rush and didn't read it properly - No, I don't think Amazon ship any of the big name mobos.

  • Does the cokour of the ramnkae any differences? Apart from the colour.
