  • They have both at Costco in Ringwood. The original lightweight one is $5 more so I assume it is still better but 1.5T

    • The other one is 1.8T so not a huge difference except in the weight.

  • +1

I just picked one up. Holy f*** they weigh a lot

    • Yea I tried to pick the display up from just the handle and failed so walked away haha….
      Definitely best for home usage

      • Nearly threw my back out loading into the trolley. 40kg would explain it. I need the low and high height range for my car as I'm sick of using bricks to raise the height of the car

  • I have had the Alloy one form Costco for the past 3 years and it is great. Still weighs a heap, but not as bad as the steel one listed here.

  • I bought this on Sunday and used it a few times so far it seems good.

I was planning to get the $180 one and wasn't sure which would be better suited to my needs. The Arcan (semi) aluminium 1.8T version is much lighter (24KG) this one is MUCH heavier at over 40KG. The benefits are that it is rated at 200KG more capacity, can go lower and higher therefore greater range also.

The only negative about this is that it requires more pumps to get to the same height than some of the other more expensive brands/models.

    • From my understanding, both these Arcan ones from Costco use a system where you don't need to use as much force to push the 'arm' down but needs a few more pumps, whilst others (like those used in Nascar) can jack the car up in like 2 pumps but need put your whole body weight into it to jack up.

The designs are different as those used in Nascar, the main aim is to get the car up as quickly as possible, whilst home usage 'ease of use' is more important than speed.

Still dunno if I should buy one… already have their Alloy version which is more than sufficient but I like this low version!! ><

    • 47KG according to the literature (nowhere to be seen outside the box), and stacked 6foot high, calls for some fun times getting one home..

  • I'd really love this beauty but sadly no Costco membership and would like to see the price drop a bit more!

    • yeah, I'd love one also, hmmm wish it were easy for us "non" members to buy at this price.

      • 3 ways you could do it:
        1. Get a costco member to take you in as a guest, and you can buy whatever you want (though I don't think they allow split bills or multiple transactions at the register).
        2. Get a costco member to buy you a costco gift card, then you can get in without a membership and buy it.
        3. Slightly unethical, but they have a full satisfaction refund on memberships - sign up, buy jack, refund membership.

  • Good for getting ya missus in the car.
