Yeah, well… I'm gonna go build my own animation program, with blackjack and hookers. In fact, forget the program!

    • +2

      Bahhh, forget the whole thing.

        Bite my shiny metal @$$…

          Antiquing?

        • How about you interface with my ass? By biting it?

    • You dont hear me not complaining

      • Err…so we hear you complaining?

^Didn't mean to come off as rude, was just pointing out the double negative light-heartedly.

    Good news everybody!

Just watched the features video lol… no chance in hell anyone, if not already in the industry will have any idea what and how to use this.

But free is free,so I'm in!

    • You mean "multimedia" isn't going to let me make my own tv show? :|

    • Im curious. What evidence would suggest that?

Awkwardly, this means you'd have to throw your phone out because its either based on open source UNIX (iOS) or open source Linux (Android)

    • +1

      Funniest quote ive ever heard.

    • LOL. It's actually the total opposite, you can download the source code and verify exactly what the app is doing.

    • +1

I heard "linux" is an open source tool used by hackers.

People don't seem to be in a joking mood today.

If it wasn't funny the first time, It's unlikely to be funny on the third try.

You sir, are a masterful troll.
I just thought I'd point out that you're trolling, because its stupid obvious.

I, however, have a lot of time, so i'm going to feed you :P and enjoy the amazing stupidity on a surrealist level :)

      First of all,

"Popular hacker software includes "Comet Cursor", "Bonzi Buddy" and "Flash". "

Comet Cursor is has cookie grab adware
Bonzi Buddy is Adware and a little bit of spyware, yes.
Flash is made by Macromedia (back in 2001 when that article was written) and was NOT open source.

      I also enjoyed this part:
"If your son has undergone a sudden change in his style of dress, you may have a hacker on your hands. Hackers tend to dress in bright, day-glo colors. They may wear baggy pants, bright colored shirts and spiky hair dyed in bright colors to match their clothes. They may take to carrying " glow-sticks" and some wear pacifiers around their necks. (I have no idea why they do this) There are many such hackers in schools today, and your son may have started to associate with them. If you notice that your son's group of friends includes people dressed like this, it is time to think about a severe curfew, to protect him from dangerous influences. "

      Ravers == Hackers… cool!

I also like 'QUAKE" being a virtual hacking training ground. So good.

You must be trying to 'social engineer' us.. I know how that works and what your intention is. Anyway im not stupid and I hope others here realise the dangers of open source.

It can't be worse than always-free Synfig. I could encode 3D animation in Blender faster than 2D animation in Synfig.

Toonz are clearly planning to become the benchmark by default.

    • I tried more than once to get into Synfig, but couldn't both for performance and UI, and I end up with toonboom instead, price was quite reasonable and amazing work flow.

Looking forward to try Toonz; personally I prefer software like toon boom (or manga studio anim, not sure about name) since they have the advantage to automate part of the process with bones and deformations, very productive solutions for small budget teams or one man band.

Still it's great to see so many awesome opensource alternatives for graphic getting the popularity they deserve . (written while working with inkscape and gimp :))

      • I tried using Inkscape but found it very unstable, this was for very simple applications as well. Went back to using coreldraw.

        • till around 2010 was pretty crappy,
          now on windows is very stable, never had problems on any machine;
performance are good for what in do, if you use a lot of blur glow, bmp filters and image it gets slower, but on a modern computer will not really give any performance issue. (i'm talking of the main stable releases)

I use it a lot to autotrace and cleanup, and classic vector graphic works.

          the main issues are:
not out of the box professional colours division for printing
advance editing tool like in illustrator

Tren, you're either a troll or got trolled into believing such ridiculousness. Calling open-source itself a "scam" is plain silly.

Open-source software (OSS) is computer software with its source code made available with a license in which the copyright holder provides the rights to study, change, and distribute the software to anyone and for any purpose.

As per above, blaming open-source itself for viruses and such is ridiculous. Sure, they could be inserted into the code and distributed, but just like downloading any other program, make sure it's from a trusted source or it's generally your fault. Open-source actually makes it easier to find viruses and such if there are any as you can study the code before downloading. There are plenty of programs to scan source code for potential malware and use anti-virus programs if you need to. As in the case of this deal, you're downloading from an official release from big companies so there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

Pulled beef is more believable as a "scam" than this.
Please learn more about open-source and programming in general before going on propagating this BS POV.

Pulled beef is more believable as a "scam" than this.

I'd like to hear more about the pulled beef, please.

      • +1

Stay away from pulled beef and the "hackers" that hack up said meat.
It is likely to be full of viruses (like Bovine spongiform encephalopathy).

    • A long, wordy answer written in an overly self-righteous tone like the author is actually annoyed and needs to set someone straight. YHBT

      You made this?

      I made this.

      • Is this meme open source?

    • +4

The link you provided is newer than the OZB listing.

    • Why?

  • Cheers, let a mate know about it.

I took your advice and let a mate know about it., thanks for the tip FabMan

I may be blind, but I couldn't find the link on their site to the free download.
Their GitHub site is here though: https://opentoonz.github.io/e/index.html
