KFC Regular Chips $1

2010

Was just in KFC in the Perth cbd and looks like $1 regular chips are back. Couldn't find any information on their website or fb page, but I was able to buy them so I guess it's started?

  • Nationwide?

    • Not sure I couldn't find any other info other than the picture in the store. Normally these deals are though, maybe it hasn't officially started.

      • Cheers, will look out for this.

    • +1

Yeah nationwide except for tas. Its supposed to start tomorrow, along with a new zinger burger. It has a black dyed bun with chilli flakes as well as BLT on the burger.

      • +24

        nationwide except for tas.

        So, nationwide.

      • +1

haha - Tassie is unique (in a positive way) because it is both "Interstate" and "Overseas".

      • Its not dyed black, has Vegtable Carbon in which is found in licorice/jelly beans.

Just had KFC after a long time on the weekend. I suppose I can't complain. The food was shit, but for $10 I was full.
The chips are so rubbish compared to the kind you get at steakhouses.

    • +5

Mate get them fresh next time. Ask for no salt so they cook a new batch then you ask for it ;)

      • +22

The face you would receive after doing this sounds priceless.

        • +8

You probably couldn't see their faces behind the acne and the hair.

        • +1
        • Loool its worth the price just for that.

      • +2

That is actually a genius idea. lol

      • +3

I do this every time. No salt fresh chips beat salty old chips any day

      • King idea

      • +7

But I love kfc salt. Can you say after they hand them to you "actually, you know what, I think I will have salt!"?

      • +6

You don't even need to ask for no salt at kfc. The kid behind the count already won't bother to salt your chips anyway

        • +2

That's so true. I have to ask for "extra salt" now to make sure I get some.

  • +3

They've been $1 on the app since forever

    • +18

The app still works with about 1% of their Australian stores?

      • +3

Nah, works at all my regulars in SA

        • +11

That's the law of large numbers at work in that research.

  • Is regular their small or large?

    • +4

      regular = small
      large = large

      • Actually, their small comes in a paper bag, not one of the cardboard cartons.

        • The small cardboard cartons are equivalent to the paper bags. It's pretty silly. lol

    • +4

      It's $1, do you really have to ask . .? :)

      [small]

      • +1

For $1 you can get a LARGE frozen coke from Maccas.

        • +10

What's that have to do with the price of chips?

  • -6

Sorry, I haven't eaten KFC in years. I just remember their chips were OK but they also had a huge variance in sizing. The small was like a match box of chips and the large like a 1 litre milk container. That's my recollection anyway.

    • +7

      Cool story bro

      • -5

Ha, I remember when "cool story bro" was funny.

        • +60

You have done a lot of remembering today, dan76n

        • +3

          @Tm15: Gold.

        • -2

          @rawm: +1 wasn't enough?

    • +4

What's your recollection of other foods? Very interesting. Ever thought about doing a reality tv show on it?

      • +3

Why are we promoting trolls on Oz bargain. It's only a downward spiral from here on out. I think people should be able to voice their decent comments without negative replies.

        • +2

Depends on what you see as a decent comment. Several year old experience about your subjective assessment of a take-out joints food doesn't add much to the discussion.

  • +1

Man, Perth is killin it with these fast food offers!

    • It's weird how we aren't a small city anymore..

      • We sure have come a long way since the early 2000's. Dat sweet, sweet iron ore.

      • I thought non-small cities allow shops to open at whatever time the store choose to.

  • Nice find op

  • +1

Not much chips but for $1 guess you can't complain.

If I am inclined I will buy two boxes and two large boxes and weigh them on my digital kitchen scales that I picked up for the cheap as well.

When I get the results I will post back on whether this is a bargain or not.

    • +9

or you could just go to the kfc website where it has all of the nutritional information.

Small chips is 100g, large is 227g. So as long as the large is less than $2.27 its cheaper to buy the small chips.

    • the Regular chips box is 1/2 the size of the large chips box exactly. What you should be able to do is purchase 2 regular chips for $1 and then ask the staff member to pack them in a large chips box :) You now get a large chips for $2

      • Really? Damn thought they were less. Still gonna buy and find out though. Need more chips in my life lol.

    KFC Regular Chips $1

Are these better than their irregular ones ?

  • +3

Believe it or not but I use these for bait ( no chicken salt) and the flatties love them.

    • +3

Try potato cakes* if you're after Snapper…

(*potato scallops) for those on the wrong side of the border…

    • +8

Fish and chips all in one package

    • Are they Jewish fish?

    • +6

I read flatties as fatties for a second there.

    • Wouldn't the salt just dissolve in the water anyway?

      • Wouldn't the chip just dissolve in water? :(

      • Isn't there salt in the water anyway?

  • It works through the KFC express app. However make sure the store is participating in the promotion. Tried it at KFC Dickson and was slightly embarrased when we ended up having to pay full price for chips.

    • It has been $1 through the app for ages, just limited to participating stores

  • +3

    Ozbargain hack…

the KFC that I go too has a Hungry jacks next door..buy the chips then head over to HJ and ask for some free chilli sauce (50cents at kfc) and BBQ sauce for free…now you saved one dollar… Then you go back to KFC again and u buy another chip.

  • Starting tmr in Victoria at least it will at Flemington KFC, missed out today ;(

  • cant wait to combine this with you know who or what tmr…. (cheap 9 pieces tuesday)

    • +5

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news but I believe the 9 pieces Tuesday deal ended last week (unless you're in QLD).

      • Awwwww man! I had planned my whole day out expecting to devour 9 pieces of delicious fried chicken tonight, but now my whole day is completely ruined :(

        • Hey, the 9 for $9.95 will be on the app for every day for the next week!

      • Cardiac ward breathed a sigh of relief :P

  • It Begins!!!

  • Just complete the feedback survey instead and get a reg chips and a drink for free..

    • Yes. I wonder why more people don't do that?

I have yet to encountered one person who did the survey while I buy KFC for the free chips and drink.

    • +1

My local KFC deliberately avoids giving or asking you if want the receipt.

      • Really? One of my local KFC actually tells you about it and all stores around me will give you a receipt.

        • My local probably gets low ratings hence better to avoid negative feedback.

        • +1

          @JB1:
Stores need to meet a certain number of surveys per month. They gernrally shouldnt be avoiding giving out receipts

  • Is it nationwide?

    • Doesn't include TAS, Maximum 4 per customer.

  • Saw a banner for it outside my local store in WA.

  • Saw this the other day. Is the $1 chips the small one in the bag or they changed to small box? (always bought the large one….)

    • always small box

      • -1

that's crap. $1 for a small box of chips. Not worth it
