    Only 3g……
    Prepare for slooooooow buffering

how much buffering does one need for facebook?

    • How else will I find out what Shazza thinks of what Dazza thinks of what Trevor said about the Kardashians?

  • hi OP, if it's free, why there is a request for a credit card?
Could we hide our credit cards' details after we sign up to avoid additional charges?

  • incredibly good deal for the mobile. 3 cents per month. no contract; same with broadband. ty.

  • Just spoke to livechat and apparently they charge for the days from activation to the 28th of the month and only then (maybe??) start the 3 free months, so be very very very careful.

It could be a trap all together, I used a virtual CC, so they won't be able to charge too much, but could be a data collector company.

Btw, the charging-terms mentioned above are not mentioned on the website, I only found out when I saw "4 days left" for the month and asked.

So beware, if you are ok to be charged for the first month and want to risk your CC data for possibly 3 free months after the first month, it might still be good value.

I have my doubts though - no clear terms on website - BIG warning sign for me.

    • do they accept prepaid cc?

      • Worth a try, my cc had $1.23 on it and they took 2c.. I am pretty sure they won't activate it though as soon as I get the SIM and it won't be able to charge the $59 or part thereof - oh well..

    • ty. very devious. they should not charge this way. what happens if we sign up on the 28th? almost fraudulent.

      • According to live support (I had a copy sent to me via email to have proof) it doesn't matter when you "sign up", but when you "start using it" - they will then charge you until the "next 28th" for a portion of $59. So I guess you would be charged a full month then until the "next 28th".. In theory you can minimise the risk to 1 day, but this is still pretty… "unusual" and I'm glad I used a pre-loaded cc and not my real one. Will see how it goes, but will probably not even get a SIM. Oh well..

        • the student edge rep [OP] gunwalls should respond to this.

        • @Peccadilloes: Hi Peccadilloes & DavidRu, thanks for the feedback. We've taken your concerns around the T&Cs and the billing cycles (both very valid) back to MeU mobile and will ask them to update their site to make clear, and we'll make any appropriate updates accordingly. Also, please rest assured this is not a data collection company. DavidRu, there should be no issues with the delivery of your SIM, if you do not receive it or activation fails, please contact MeU or feel free to contact us at Student Edge and we can follow up if needs be. Thanks again for raising your concerns and hopefully MeU will resolve swiftly.

Hi @DavidRu, thanks for flagging the concern about T&Cs. MeU have provided us with their full T&Cs link which we've updated on our site or you can access here https://meu.mobi/terms-and-conditions and they will update their own site soon. They are also reviewing the information about their billing and will update this shortly.

As per the previous message, there should be no issues with the delivery of your sim, but any issues please contact MeU or Student Edge and we'll do what we can to help.

Thanks again for raising the concerns and helping us and MeU improve their information and listing for all members.

      • Any latest updates?

        • Hi Durant, thanks for the follow up. Yes, on the question around billing, MeU Mobile have provided the following:

“Our billing cycle runs from the 28th of the month to the 27th of the following month. Bills are issued on the 1st or 2nd of the month. Any charges incurred will be direct debited on the 15th of the month.

While we do have a set billing period, for the offer made to Student edge members they will receive 3 full months of access fee free. This is irrespective of the billing period, so the 3 months free will occur from when a member activates. For example, if someone signs on the 20th of March:

          • They will receive a bill on the 1st of April showing a pro-rata amount from the 20th of March till the 27th of March plus a discount for the full month of access fee April.
          • So if a Student Edge member signs up on the 20th of March they will receive free mobile access fees till June 20th
          • Mobile Access fee does not include special calls and any data used outside of the plan details. It’s best to read the critical information summary for each plan.

The Standard Form of Agreement (SFoA) is available on sign-up and acknowledgement of an understanding of these terms is required before a member can proceed."

Hopefully this addresses the question and concern. Please let us know if not.

          Thank you.

        • @Gunwalls: Thanks. Is there an expiry date to activate the sim card? For example, can I active the sim card on Nov. this year, then still get three months free from that?

        • @Durant: Hi Durant, unfortunately I think that may be a tad too far in the future. The response from MeU Mobile is:

"We will keep activations open for April and following that review each order individually."

So they will definitely honour for a month after and post that may well honour but may need to be a discussion with them.

Hope this helps and sorry you're probably not going to be able to wait until Nov.

          Thank you.

  • Their 3G mobile network is on Telstra, Optus or Vodafone, which one pls?
